  1. Has anyone experienced breakouts from kojic acid soap? I purchased through amazon and used daily for maybe 3 weeks. My face was clear for the most part only a few breakouts here and there. I heard the soap was good for dark spots and that’s why i chose it. But now i have very moderate/severe breakouts all along my jawline, chin, and forehead. It’s awful! I saw that the soap has coconut oil in it and I’m thinking that may be the cause. I was also using bio oil at the time too. So maybe it was a c

    Betaine Hcl

I have been taking Betaine HCL on and off for a few weeks now. Maybe a month or so. I stopped for around a week becaus ei was getting weird reflux feelings in throat. At first i thought my skin was getting better but was just coincidental. Skin has been very bad last week or so, so started takign it again. Erythromelalgia has been bad last few weeks may or may not be related to betaine hcl. - The tablets stink like cat piss. - need to research what and how they are made from.
  3. Hi Everyone. This is my first post on the forums. The question is concerned with my wife who is 27 years old. There is no history of pregnancy. She and her family never had any history of acne problems but about 3-4 months back she had a sudden breakout of acne on her cheeks. And since then it has not stopped. She has consulted 2 doctors till now and below is what the doctors suggested:1) She hits the gym everyday so the first guess was that may be a supplement like protein/multivitamin/BCAA(All GNC p
  4. Hi all, My name is Danielle and I'm 25 years old. I never had problem skin until i turned 22 years old and my body started to change. Im not really sue what the cause of it was, maybe stress, maybe just changes but it sucked. My acne was big cystic pimples that would last for a really long time. They were only on my cheeks and nothing i did would make them go away. I would look at myself in the mirror and just cry because i felt like there was no way of curing this. I went to doctor after do
  5. I am planning on doing a glycolic acid peel at home hopefully today if I can get the answer to my question, I am doing it for the red marks/scars I have left from my cystic acne and to clear up the pimples I have atm I have waited for all open skin to heal and my face is now ready for the acid but the one thing I'm still unsure about is wether or not I can put it on my eyebrows I have a lot of red marks under and around my eyebrows so I want to put the acid on them but I'm worried it may effect
  6. Hiya people! Was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with both Dermarolling and Salicylic Acid Peels to fade shallow acne scarring? I've had "moderate" acne for 3-4 years now! Approaching 20 in two months time so I know how much of a pain acne can be. Not just a pain in the bum, but it has literally wrecked my self-esteem to the point I've isolated myself behind the glow of my computer screen frantically searching the net for a glimmer of hope when it comes to removing these dr
  7. Hi! im relatively new to the regimen, i started it a couple weeks ago and made the mistake of using 10% bp, my skin turned red and eventually i had a layer of dead skin that peeled of in large flakes, my skin felt tight and moisturizer did little to help but my acne seems to slowed and such. Im planning on buying from acne.org so i can stop with the hit and misses when buying from the store. As of right now i still get smaller dry flakes on my skin and cannot apply any more bp since i only have
  8. Hi everyone! I have been lurking on the board for a little over a week. First, thanks to everyone for sharing their stories and advice as it helped me through my most recent situation. Secondly, I figured I would post the nutrition portion of my plan in this area as it has made a tremendous difference (in my opinion) in my speedy recovery. If you want to read my whole story I posted it in "Introductions" here: http://www.acne.org/...paying-forward/ Here's the diet portion. My Diet:
  9. I want fast results to remove hyperpigmentation. I have brown marks that are acne hyperpigmentation. I still have active acne but wanted to sort as much hyperpigmentation out as I can before roaccutane as I know you can’t use peels for a long time after roaccutane. Should I get a glycolic or salicylic peel? Or some sort of lasering? Where is the best place in the London area to get a chemical peel/laser done. Does it have to be done by my actual dermatologist or can I just v
  10. Hi everyone: I just wanted to know if someone has experience treating clogged pores and comedonal acne with azelaic acid. My derm prescribed me azelaic acid in the night and then Cetaphil cream to avoid the side effects. Any information is really appreciated!
  11. I have a few questions regarding my current acne treatment and any kind of help or insight would be really appreciated. I'm a 25 year old guy with oily skin, have been doing acne treatments on and off for the past 10 years or so. Unfortunately, I have had a very bad luck with dermatologists and I can honestly say that not one treatment has helped me for more than a month tops. I have been using Glycolic Acid 20%, a tone adjustment cream for the past 7 months (because my skin got disastrously
  12. Hello, I have only been on the regimen for about a week and I have just started to used Dan's AHA for my dark spots/acne scars. I know that you are supposed to be on the regimen for 4-6 weeks before using the glycolic acid but before the regimen I had been using Epiduo for about 6 months, so my skin is used to the benzoyl peroxide. I have only used the AHA for two nights, and both times I did what Dan said and mixed a little bit with my moisturizer before bed. So for my nightly routine I: cleans
  13. Hi, I purchased a 10% glycolic acid peel and have used it a few times, for the maximum recommended time (15 mins). It makes my skin smooth and is helping my acne scars a tiny bit, but barely. I don't want to go for a professional peel or use a higher concentration at home because there's never a good time for my skin to "flake" for days - I wouldn't be able to leave the house if it did this, or if it reacted with hyperpigmentation. What would happen if I left the weak 10% peel on fo
  14. Basically, I'm burnīng it off with sōme acid. FYI Bandaids If I do bandaids, they only last up to 1 day on the wound. Quit being professional, ans Keep it 100 I used Heinz Distilled white vinegar, n like a total of 9 or so q-tips. I dipped one end of one in, and soaked the scar repeatedly for a couple of minutes. Then I started wetting it with one end, then rubbing it in with the other end repeatedly for what might have been 10-15 minutes or so. I'd rub it with the wet end a bit, as w
  15. Hi, currently I am just using Retin-A 0.05% as well as Clindamycin which keeps my skin pretty clear and nice, yet it feels like a battle? Lately, I have restarted using the Retin-A after pausing for a bit, and not getting enough sleep so it seemed to give me a wrinkle-like line on my cheek (smile line area). Is this normal for initially restarting Retin-A, since I know it is supposed to help with wrinkles? I mean, I am only 20. In about a month, I will start the birth control Yasmin, which I
  16. Hey Guys I'm beginning my vitamin b5 trial next week by starting on just 500mg and then working my way up to 10 grams. I've read a lot about Dr. Leungs theory on pantothenic acid and also other peoples reviews on them using the vitamin which tend to be all good. The only scare I have about it is hair loss, the thought of my hair just falling out gives me shivers and I want to try my best to make sure it doesn't happen. Has anyone got any tips to make sure this doesn't happen or any vitamin
  17. I have been using Benzoyl Peroxide for around a year now and ever since, my face has been red. I tried lowering the concentration but that didn't do much. I was thinking of switching to Neutrogena's Oil-Free Acne Stress Control® 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment. Has anyone tried this before? Would this be a safe switch?
  18. I have started using AHA glycolic acid 10% from acne.org for fading hyper pigmentation brown acne marks. I use this on top of my Duac once daily gel (Benzoyl peroxide 5%, Clindamycin 1%) so I apply the AHA after/on top of the Duac and I leave it overnight. To get the best results from the AHA glycolic acid is it best to use it without Duac underneath? Would I see faster results from glycolic acid for removing hyperpigmentation if I used AHA in the morning and having just AHA on my face alone
  19. From the album: My scars...hope they go away

This is my third treatment of tca acid. Here i'm showing one side of my face ( I do both sides) its around $100-300, depending on the dermatologist. Anyway this picture is four days after the treatment. Usually it starts to peel around the third of fourth day and they will just come off after starting to peel. I really hope they fall off before my photoshoot on Tuesday. This treatment has been different from my previous ones because usually they would come off in 4 days tops so i'm kinda nervous
  20. Hey all, I am Thomas Rio, I have had acne since I was about 14. I am now 24. I have managed it many different ways, and have seen very clear skin at times for a few months at a time. About six months was the longest stint I have been clear. I have the type of skin where if I did absolutely nothing, including not washing my face, I would probably end up with over 100 pimples at a time, maybe more. Although by now I have sort of lost the acne growth everywhere but my forehead. However, my up
  21. Hi guys i have been using salicylic acid peel 10% salicylic acid and 15% lactic acid i have been using it on my face and body, now it has cleared alot of the spots/blemishes from my back and arms, but not so much for my face, whys this? and also would like to know if this has worked for anyone else that may have tried it? i have just purchased the 20% salicylic acid 20% lactic acid peel to use on my arms and back in hope that it will clear my bacne up faster... Not sure if i will use it for
  22. I recently bought 30% glycolic acid peel, tried it yesterday on my face, it stung a little for a while, that's normal. But I thought I would see something happening on my face? Not that my acne and scars would be gone overnight, but I thought the skin would be peeling or something? I've tried many things on my face and If I don't see any results I always think it doesn't work so I'm just curious if that's right and if I should continue with that peel. Thank you

  25. Sound terrifying, right? Just something about the words "acid/chemical peel" and "face" together just makes me envision a burn victim or something. It actually went fine. Surprisingly fine (well, I guess not surprisingly, since I read a lot of reviews about doing mandelic acid peels at home, and made sure I knew what I was doing.) So WHY a mandelic acid peel? Well, a few weeks ago, as I was staring at my oodles and oodles of closed comedones on the side of my mouth, I remember thinking back t
