  1. Hey guys, I'm here to share my story about Retin A damage. I used Retin A for 2 months (exactly 12 uses) and it destroyed my skin. I had very nice skin before this happened and was only given Retin A as a preventive against aging and for a few chin breakouts. It has caused huge pores, orange peel texture, dents, lines, cracks, dehydrated, dry, molted skin with a shiny film covering it. I'm extremely depressed about this, but I'm still hopeful that this damage can be fixed. I'm just short of 3
  2. A sensible discussion & compilation of facts about the acid mantle, lipid barrier, retinoid production and more. See also this thread about avoiding chemicals & using cheaper, healthier, simpler, DIY treatments. http://www.acne.org/messageboard/topic/313174-reducing-exposure-to-chemicals-recipes-alternatives-etc/ Your skin isn't dead leather & your sebum isn't dead grease. They are ecosystems for enzymes and other substances that play vital roles in skin function. Your s
  3. As the title says, I'm in dire straits thanks to nearly two decades of acne treatments. In case of TLDR, I was wondering (hoping, really) whether anyone else has been through years of harsh acne treatments and found a product, foodstuff or regimen of any sort that helped them recover fully or at least partially? Over 18 years and a gamut of registered physicians and dermatologists, I was prescribed, and thus took a crazy amount of acne treatments. I can't remember all of them, but several were
  4. Hi guys! I have been a reader of acne.org for a while now and am starting my first log with the Caveman Regimen. Like many of you, I have tried basically everything (topicals, proactive, Acnepractice, Acne.org regimen, spa facials, microdermabrasion, light therapy, antibiotics, birth control pills, checked for allergies, etc.) with the exception of Accutane (scares me way too much!). The clearest I have been is using the Acne.org Regimen which has really been working for me acne wise. The issue
  5. I have followed the advice of a few here and stopped using soap for 2 weeks! I am building my skins acid mantle but I've now run into a question.... HOW DO I EXFOLIATE??!! I have a date coming in a week and usually after I exfoliate my face looks "fresh" and my scars fade slightly but now that I've tossed my soap out the bathroom window to build my natural acid mantle, I wanna know how others exfoliate their skin and fade their scars without soap. Please help. I have an exfoliating
  6. I'm pretty far into my course, enough that my skin would be really dry if i didn't treat it with jojoba oil and grape seed oil. Right now i shower once a day, i try to avoid getting my face wet and i don't dry it. I was thinking of not showering for 5 days ( of course i'll clean myself but by other means) That means i won't wash my face, i'll only use apple cider vinegar to restore the pH and grape seed oil to moisturize. But i won't clean it off. I won't wash my face when i've been sweating (is
