  1. I'll start this blog/forum/"New Topic" by saying I don't usually participate in the melting pot of information that is the internet. I don't blog, I don't comment, I don't tweet, and aside from the occasional "Happy Birthday!!" I don't post on facebook. If my bafflement at what to even call...whatever this is isn't proof enough, then it would suffice to say I'm pretty out of my element. I'm starting this blog/forum/post, however, because I think it's important. To survive the cracking-dry skin-c
  2. Just finished blood testing, and taking the quiz on iPledge website. My derm said I could pick up my prescription after completing that. Do I just go to the pharmacy and say I have a prescription to pick up? Will they have that info in their files? Did my derm already send in the prescription? Do I need to say I'm beginning accutane? Can I go to any pharmacy or will it be sent to the one in my derm's files for me??? I know I am making a huge deal out of this, but please help.

  4. Hi, Can I take Primolut while on accutane? I need to delay my period for some time. Any idea? Thanks.
  5. Hi, i'm debating taking accutane and i would like to know what sort of after-effects it may cause. I don't care about side effects during the treatment. I Have read about them, so please only post if you have taken accutane yourself, or if you know someone who has taken it and tell me if it changed you/that person in any way. Did it affect your brain at all? Did you take an iq test before and after? Did it make your sex-life worse? I hope as many as possible of you who has taken Accutane,
  6. My first month on Accutane I was on 40 mg. Now I am on my second month on day 35 on 60 mg. I have a few questions can you guys please help me. 1. I don't have dry lips yet. 7. Hello people, Im new to the forum and this is my first post. Im a 14 (soon to be 15) year old male with severe acne (but more on the mild side, its not nor has never been as bad as the acne in pictures that make you cringe). I have been taking Accutane (actually Roaccutan on my country) 20mg since march this year (I have acne since the start of 2013 but before accutane I did a 6 month treatment with a drug called "Tetralisal"). I first started taking one pill a day but about 2 months ago starte
  8. Hi, Has anyone ever experienced carpet burn on their face while on accutane ?
  9. Hi, i'm one of those that's debating taking accutane, and im currently doing my research on it. I'm aware that there's all these crazy "rare" stories that keeps coming up and scares people from taking it, but recently i found a cluster of it. I found 1500 posts where 95% of them were all negative. They involved things like severe joint/back/chest/stomach - pain, aswell as headaches and even cancer. What i don't understand is that on acne.org, the ratings on accutane is on 8/10. Most people rate
  10. Hi, I'm a 20 year old female and I've had acne for about 5 years now. I didn't have acne before I turned 15. Actually it began after I was horribly pressured into getting my face waxed. I've had it ever since. I've been to various dermatologists and have been put on accutane, used benozyl peroxide, tried home remedies etc. Every time I try accutane it worsens my acne and since I am a student I cannot get out of the house with pimples on my face. I usually have a few spots on my face but it gets
  11. Hello, I have been on a course of accutane before when I was 17 and it helped the severity of my acne but now at the age of 21 I still have very oily skin and mild/moderate breakouts around cheeks/nose/chin/neck a lot. If I paid for a private derm would he put me on second course of accutane, maybe a low dosage course? Please help me I hate looking in mirrors, I need something doing
  12. So I have been on one month of accutane and the first month went quite well I cleared up mostly only got occasional small pimples, but recent blood tests showed my chlosterol jumped up so my doctor decreased my dosage from 70mg-50mg and now on month two My acne seems to be a whole lot worse with bigger pimples coming up and lots of smaller ones.. I'm wondering if the dosage decrease was the culprit of this or is it just accutane doing it's job, little confused any insight would be appreciated
  13. Hey guys, I'm 27 and have been suffering from cystic acne off and onsince around age 21. Last year was my worst year and I tried every possible thing available prescription and over the counter but had no luck. I've been on Dianette for the past 10 months and although it has improved the general look of my skin, reduced oiliness and regular pimples, I still get painful cysts monthly. And anyway I can't stay on birth control forever if I want to ever have kids and I do. After wasting yet ano
  14. Hey guys! So first of all I have a little confession that I'd like to make. I'm already on day 40 of my Accutane journey so basically I'm going to start off this log with a basic summary about myself and of how the past 40 days have gone and then I will be regularly updating this log every couple of days, starting from today. Now for a little background info of myself. I'm an 18 year old Canadian male that has been suffering from mild/moderate acne since I was around 13-14 years old. But on top
  15. I will start taking accutane within the next few days after some blood tests. I was a bit worried about an initial breakout but I am on tretinoin topical and have already gone through the initial breakout and will my initial breakout be severe on accutane? Thanks

  17. [side note- I'm new to this place so bear with me and forgive my mistakes, not even sure if I'm making a post properly hahaha..] A little history about my experience with acne- I'm 23 and never had issues with acne throughout middle or high school. I started getting my issues more in my 'young-adult' years, it went from mild acne to painful cystic acne. Compared to many others my acne is/was quite mild but I couldn't seem to be clear.. ever! So I've tried everything under the sun (just
  18. Last month I went to the dermatologist and he decided to only let me do 4 months of Accutane treatment, so he took me off (still completely shocked he did that). I still had a little bit of pimples and a whole bunch of red marks. Completely unprofessional if you ask me! HE'S BEEN PRESCRIBING ACCUTANE FOR MORE THAN 30 YEARS...!! Now almost a month later, my acne is coming back. I have one last dermatologist appointment in 2 days and I am positive I will have to go back on it. I was wondering sin
  19. 20. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAD0DEUw520 I was on 40mg a day for the entire 6 months! I had no side effects other than the dryness but I did keep a very healthy lifestyle while taking it! Nothing else worked for me but this, it was the best decision I ever made probably.
  21. Hello everyone, I've never been one to log things or to write diaries but as I know friends who have taken accutane a few years back, no one seems able to remember their experience so well. All I remember is nose bleeds, the typical dry scabs either side of their lips and a really sweaty forehead in any mild heat. (This is still happening with a friend who ended their course over two years ago. So I decided I would like to document my journey in hope it may help someone else some day!
  22. i'm 22 yr old 58kg weighed , i'm taking accutane 10mg alternate day from past 1 month , so will that be okay if i continue this dosage for 6 months . what will be the side effects i dont have any till now , kindlt replay if someone here has followed this pattern. i have previously taken minocycline , doxycycline and homeopathy . have super oily skin which react to all chemicals .
  23. Hi guys this is going to sound stupid but I had no where else to go so I am on 20 mg of accutane. My derm said I should see results in a week but it has been over 20 days and I still haven't. In fact I am still getting new pimples. The only evidence of the pill is my dry skin and terribly cracked lips. Is this normal? Is it because I am on a low dosage?
  24. I finished my first course of accutane 2 months ago. I wasnt on a large enough cumulative dosage (1.2mg per kg) over the 6 month period and I started breaking out after days of coming off the treatment. I went to see my derm who said she cannot prescribe me with a second course until 12 months have lapsed. she said this was according to the british association of dermatologists legal rules! obviously im very disappointed as the topicals arent working. does anyone know if what she said is tru
  25. Hey guys! My derm just prescribed me 0.05% tazorac gel because of a return in acne 5 months after my first round of accutane. I just wanted to hear your opinions on it and if I should just go on a second round of accutane or use the tazorac? Btw my skin has been breaking out like crazy even on my forehead, where it never used to break out before. The pores are huge and my skin is oily.
