  1. This has absolutely not been my week. Maybe because they didn't up my dosage and my skin has gotten used to 60mg a day? Idk. My skin is feeling pretty oily again and my lips are a million times worse. They are almost constantly bleeding and burn because they're so dry and I use every thing under the sun to moisturize them and they refuse to heal. Those I can atleast deal with bc I care so much more about my skin than my lips. But my skin has gotten worse this past week. Four new friends popped u
  2. So I’ve struggled with mild acne for 13 years now. I’ve tried everything under the sun. I finally went to see a dermatologist after all these years and the first thing he said to me was “try a low dose of Accutane”. Now trust me, I’ve done my fair share of research about this ‘miracle drug’. I was very apprehensive at first due to all of the side effects, especially the liver damage! However, after much deliberation I’m now on my 12th day of Accutane. The results have been pretty dra
  3. So I missed week five but my skin hasn't changed much since week 5 anyway. My skin dryness is under control but my lips have given up on me. It might have to do with the 10 degree weather and the insane winds that come with living in the mountains that add to the dryness but my lips have never felt so bad. Burt's bees and blistex no longer work. I exfoliate them and drown them in chapstick and Vaseline but they start cracking and bleeding anyway. My skin is not that dry surprisingly but I do al

    Day 1

I went to the dermatologist yesterday and after fighting insurance I was finally able to start accutane. The brand I'm using is Clara is, which seems to be a very common brand of isotretinoin. Clearly nothing has changed yet but it's my first day so this is what my skin looks like before accutane. I've never had several acne, only moderate acne but because of its persistance for 7 years my dermatologist finally recommended this for me and I'm SO excitedI was told to stop using "harsh" acne
  5. Good afternoon everyone, Today is day 46 of me being on Accutane. In my last post, I mention that I was going through the purging period/ initial breakout phase and I am happy to announce that it is over!! It lasted for about 2 weeks and now my skin is definitely clearing up. As of recently, I noticed I have been really tired all the time. It's hard for me to get up in the morning and the days I wake up earlier, around 7/8am, I am ready for bed at like 6pm. That is totally unusual for
  6. Low Dose Accutane (10mg/day): Day 55 Only one cystic acne that got popped during shower (still taking so long to get dried up). Few small ones come out but they disappear in 1-2 days. A lot of left over red/brown spots. Got 2 new pitted scars from breakouts.. I notice a lot of facial hairs grown up after I started Accutane (I am pretty sure I never had this much before) Eczema developed around my eyes and nose and it made me extremely itchy... but after ap

    Accutane Journey

20 years old, 125 lb, 40mg for the first 2 months - 50mg from 3rd month onwards. So I started Accutane towards the end of May this year. I expected to see results straight away, despite constantly reading blog posts and watching videos that told me otherwise. I was nervous but after a 5 month wait on the NHS I just wanted to start the course. My lips did become chapped and dry after the first week or two so I ordered Aquaphor lip ointment from amazon and slathered it all over my lips. This ma
  8. I’m a bit late updating as not much has really happened. Just over a week ago my doctor upped me to 40mg, he warned me that because I had such a good first month my skin would likely get worse for a while when increasing my dosage. My skin has actually stayed the same, I haven’t had any breakouts, the only think I’ve noticed is that other parts of my body are starting to get really dry now too like my arms and knees. One thing that did surprise me is the price of the Isotretinoin. 20mg onl
  9. Hi guys, I am writing this to help and to get helped by people who are suffering from acne (and scars) like me.. I am 26 years old Asian guy and I live in Canada. I have taken a full regular dose Accutane course about 2 years ago. I was cleared up after taking Accutane for about 7months and stayed acne free for about 6 months but it left me a lot of severe acne scars.. After 6 months, it started breaking out again, nothing really serious though. Acne was pretty much moderate and under c
  10. Roaccutane journal 10mg /day I am 24, female, and have been struggling with chin/jawline acne. This is a week by week journal of my skin while on 10mg/day roaccutane. I am currently 3 months in and will update as I progress. Week 1 (ending 9/6/18): Slight lip dryness (dry from winter anyway-not sure if this is a side effect) No new breakouts Still lots of existing congestion under skin around chin area (large cystic as well as little bumps) Wee
  11. Hi everyone, When deciding on Accutane I didn't realize how vigorous and demanding going on the drug was. If you've been struggling with persistent acne like a lot of us out there, Accutane seems like the holy grail of acne medicine. Many dermatologists recommend that people who are interested in going on Accutane need to explore other options (if they haven't already) such as doxycycline or azithromycin to fight acne. These are antibiotics that target the acne-causing bacteria from within the
  12. Still breaking out Had a few bad days of picking that may have aggravated the situation. Mirrors and touch are big triggers for me, so I’ve already had the mirrors in my room and bathroom covered for a while. I’m using my brother’s vanity bathroom extension for putting on makeup (which I’m trying to do less but self-esteem has always been low and is even lower now that my face is extra bad) and I used paper to cover part of the mirror so I can’t lean in close and over-analyze my pores. My face
  13. Hello, lovely people of this website! My name is Marissa and I'm 17. I just made this account today. I thought it would be hella cool to start a blog so I can keep track of my progress (or lack thereof), spread information/be a reference for people new to Accutane, and hopefully make some friends on here. So here I am. Nice to meet you. Some background:So I actually started Accutane last month (4/27/18) - I'm on my 25th day today (5/21/18). I've never had great skin, but around age 15-16 it starte
  14. it's been about 2 months since i last updated my progress. it has been hard to use this cream in a consistant manner. there were a few weeks i completely forgot to use it. Now, i'm trying to get into the habit of using it every day instead of every other day like when i first started. my skin has gotten so much better. i'm not red like i use to be with accutane and my scar redness has gone down. i still have scars but they're not so prominent now. very pleased with my results!

    Day 13

My first entry is written on the 26th of May, the 13th day I've been on Roaccutane. I only had the idea of documenting this journey today, but better late than never right? Oh and my dose for the first month and a half is 40mg per day. The first week on the pills went by pretty smoothly, no significant difference in my skin except for a little bit of dry, flaky skin on my nose and chin. My lips started drying very soon too, but I bought a jug of Vaseline to carry everywhere with me, and so fa

    Pre Accutane

Hello everyone, I'm new here and I just want to share with you my accutane process. I think it will be nice to exchange opinions and experiences. I'm actually starting next week. it will be nice to meet some people that are in the situation I am, Thanks for reading me!
  18. Today is my fifth day taking Accutane, and my face has definitely developed a few more blemishes. Really haven't experienced any side effects, although my lips are a tad bit dry. I will also add that my face is feeling VERY oily right now, but I have been reading that is usually pretty common when you first start your treatment. It just feels very weird because my skin is never very oily, usually more on the dry side. Oh Well. No initial breakout so far that has been too bad, like I mentione
  19. Skin still bad.. I think I am going to do next update only if I see some positive improvement..thr is no point is updating the blog with the negative effects.. let's hope I make some positive update soon.
  20. It took me a few longer days than expected to get on my Accutane because of my pharmacy, but I finally got it. My official dosage of right now is 30mg in the morning and 20mg at night. Before I started this process I read a lot of other reviews of people just starting out at 20mg and then their dermatologist increased the dosage over time and I think the reason for my higher dosage is because of the severity. So far I don't have any severe side effects but when I did first take it I felt a littl
  21. IM SOOOOOOOOO SORRY I haven't been on here in a while. February was a crazy month for me and I didn't get around to posting. It was very eventful. I know I'm kinda late in the game to be saying this but THE PANTHERS LOST THE SUPER BOWL AND MY HEART WAS BREAKING but anyway back to my progress. And I've had a lot of progress with my skin. I'm kinda mad at myself for not posting but plz forgive me. Lets get started. First I wanna do a recap for Feb and then I'll get into this months news. For Fe
  22. On day 12 of accutane and my skin is really starting to breakout all over, lots of little red pimples everywhere which is not something I've ever really had, hopeing it will get better soon
  23. Hi, recently the pass 6 -7 months I have been struggling with moderate to serve acne and some days are better then others. But no day is perfect. Before these 7 months I would get maybe one or two pimples a week and they were easy to deal with and NEVER once did they ever scare. Now I find every pimple I get scares for a week at the shortest and some have been here for months although have slightly faded are still there and red. Acne has ruined my social life, I can't remember the last time I
  24. SO This is the fourth week into the process... As like my other posts I will break down this blog. SIDE AFFECTS: DRY LIPS AND FACE. I recently picked up this cerave moisturizing lotion and its like white goo. It works wonders. It works even better than than the medical moisturizer the derm prescribed. VERY DRY EYES RECENTLY. I've been noticing my eyes are extremely dry and they would water if I didn't put at least two drops of eye drops in each eye. In the hallway I would walk and it would
  25. 2 WEEKS IN.. Like in my last post I will be breaking this one down into parts. SIDE AFFECTS: Pretty much the same but getting slightly dryer as time goes on. I haven't had any more nosebleeds and the joint pain has gone down. My lips are very dry and I feel myself always having to apply lip balm or they will hurt. My face is peeling a little bit but that's just because my skin is so dry. My body is not that dry yet. HOW MY SKIN IS LOOKING: I think my skin is definitely purging because I've
