  1. hi, so I've been struggling with acne since I was about 13, but recently it has flared up as a result of the birth control pill that I started in late June-early July. I've been on 5 different medications that have all failed (duac, zineryt, differin, oxytetracycline and lymecycline), switched to a vegan diet in April and plus have tried every single over-the-counter method (like everyone). yet nothing is working! I exercise regularly (dancing and occasional running and gym) yet I still look
  2. I have used accutane twice in the past when I had really bad cystic acne. The 1st time was Jr year of high school and then the 2nd course was Sr year of college. I'd say that after each course, the amount/type of acne that inevitably came back was milder and less in number - but it did come back... Before my first coure, I had acne on my upper chest, upper shoulders and some on my back; after that course, the acne never really came back on those areas. I took my 2nd course mainly because I wa
  3. I have been visiting the derm since feb and started accutance on march ever since i started on Oratane , i drank around 6 litres of water everyday almost i think ? and been eating Lots of veggies like almost 4 days a week ? Im not sure if 10mg of oratane would help me in 2 months . But i definitely know that drinking water and lots of them would help . 2 months ago i will be really sad when i look at the mirror but now erm im pretty fine with it . no one is making fun of me anymore , I dun think
  4. I just started to have severe acne last year december during the holidays ... it was really bad until i lasted to february and went to the derm so i took antibiotics for a month and it made all my acne worst............ so the derm decided to give me accutance 10mg a day ? i think its quite little compared to others who gets over 30 or 40 mg ? im 59kg . So now its around mine 4-5 month and it feels like it just got worst .... when i just started accutance it has initial breakout and now i got mo
  5. Hello, a little background on my treatment. I took a cycle of Accutane starting in the spring of 2011 that lasted for about 6-7 months. I cycled between 40 and 60 mg. Too make a long story short, I went through the inital breakouts, lathargy, joint pains, and eventually my skin cleared. Accutane worked very well for me beside the joint pain. I am an ameatur mma fighter (martial arts). I was training during my treatment when I hurt my knee. I felt like the healing process took longer than
  6. I was 14 years old and having a sleepover at my friend's house when I realised that my skin was a noticeable problem. Not just to me, but to other people. I know her older sister won’t even remember making that comment but it’s stuck with me in the back of my mind ever since. The most frustrating part for me personally over the years hasn’t been my skin itself, but people giving me their (unwelcome) opinions and telling me why I had “bad” skin: “You don’t clean your face enough.” “You
  7. Improvements... over this past week I have noticed the most improvement so far throughout this journey. Most of the bumps are starting to flatten accept for a couple of deep cysts that continue to boil below the surface of my skin. Dry, flaky skin... with the increase in dose, my skin has become very flaky once again and my lips are cracking a lot. I continue to use the same lip product and moisturizer and limit makeup as much as possible to let my skin breath. Forehead breakout… Although I
  8. Hey everyone! While I was sitting in the office at my now full-time job, I came across an article on buzzfeed that reminded me how bad my acne used to be and how soul-crushing it was for my self-esteem. Now, I've graduated with a bachelor's degree in english, a master's in journalism and at 23, have a very happy life (despite a few breakouts here and there). I haven't logged on to this site in YEARS, but I wanted to share another update, post-accutane about how my life has gone since then. S

    Accutane IB

Hi Everyone, As most people have, I've dealt with acne for a while and ran through the gamut of treatment options with my derm. We're trying doryx/epiduo combo one more time before I head for Accutane. I've done my reading on accutane and I know what to expect, but I wanted to ask some questions about it and get a few answers from people who have experienced it. I'm hoping to field answers from people who have similar skin but will take anything I can get! I am a 24 y/o male. I have struggle
  10. Just started , i am taking 10 mg per day and the derm told me that the course will be for 3 months and the dosage will steadily increase everytime i visit '6 week' . He said that he gave me 10 mg because he doesn't want me to experience too severe side effects . i have already taken 11 pills . No changes so far though , I haven't experience anything new such as IB or any bad side effects other than dry lips . For some reason half of my forehead is clear because Clindoyx which the derm prescribed
  11. (Been reading here for some time now, but it's my first time posting. Sorry for the long message! ) Hi, I'm a female woman of African descent. I had acne since I was a teen and it went into a mild form of acne. It was only concentrated on my face (no bacne, etc.)and never ever had problems with the rest of my body(not easily scarring, healing very fast, etc.). On 24 yrs, my skin broke out all over my body ( I mean no inches of skin was free from that reaction) on a couple of days and just wo
