  1. I love Accutane / Isotretinoin. To make things simple, I posted my story in Acne.org under the blog section. I hope I can help someone with my story! http://www.acne.org/messageboard/blog/7979/entry-29321-sores-to-soaring-i-love-accutane/
  2. Does anyone have any idea when Absorica will be available for prescription in the UK? My dermatologist mentioned it to me as an option that may be worth looking at since I relapsed after each of several courses of roaccutane. This may have been due to poor absorption in my body so definitely worth considering this new medication. Thanks.
  3. Welp, after around 4 years of being off of Accutane, my acne has returned. Not as bad as it was in my junior year of high school, but I'm getting more and more painful nodular cysts on my back and neck. I'm currently 21, a junior in college. I've decided to go back on Accutane, hopefully for the last time. My dermatologist has started me off on a dose of 80mg/day of Absorica. That equates to about 1mg/kg per day. I weigh 175 lbs. give or take. As of the time of this post, it has been 10 days
  4. I have been taking Absorica for 44 days now (30 days- 40mg, 14 days- 50mg) & I have not seen any effects on my skin. It is somewhat dry, but my skin is always dry during the winter. I would say my face is moderate-severe, but more severe, & I also have acne on my neck, chest & back. Up to a year and a half ago, my acne was very mild, but since a year and a half ago, it has quickly become worse & worse. I am 15 now. My acne has continued it's worsening since I have started accutan
  5. Hello. I am in my 30's and have been on birth control for most of my life. I never had acne before other than a pimple here and there. last year I decided to stop taking birth control because I wanted to start a family and two months after stopping the pill I got acne. Not regular acne but big nasty red cystic acne all over my face. Well I freaked out and went back to birth control. After a month my face was clear again. This year I stopped the pill again and the same thing happened I went to t

    Week 3

Not sure if I've been extremely lucky, or if it's just the calm before the storm but I have hardly experienced any side effects. *Knock on wood* Lips are still dryer than usual, but thankfully not chapped. I have noticed some improvement on the acne in my cheeks, but have sparked a breakout on the top of my back, which I never had before. I will try to post pictures of my face tomorrow so look for it the gallery section. I just started working out at Planet Fitness, and am hoping that I wil

    Day 6

So today is day 6, and I can honestly say my skin looks better already! Granted, it's the time when I clear up anyway, but normally not THIS much. I haven't gotten a single new pimple since I got a couple of tiny ones on day 3, and they've all cleared up for the most part. I basically have no pimples on my face at all right now... there are a couple bumps from ones that are toward the end of the healing process, and of course my usual red marks, but even those seem to be getting better. I swi

    I Survived A Friday Night!

DAY 5: After Wednesdays incident, I stressed out about alcohol for the next two days, its Memorial Weekend, and I was going to be really ticked if I had to spend it without any drinks. I decided to test the waters on tonight, but change the way I conducted taking my medication. I purposely ate dinner early and took my medication, and waited about 3 hours before I went out with friends to celebrate our friends birthday at a brewery (talk about temptation!). I had 1/2 a beer at the brewer

    Back Pain!

Last time I wrote about the obnoxious pimples that were surfacing out of nowhere, and luckily they went away quite quickly except for the monster on my forehead that I kept picking at...my fault, I know. So during my Absorica journey, I've been following other peoples blogs, Instagrams etc. and I kept reading about how people have had horrible back pain but never understood what they meant because I never had it. I chalked it up to me only being on it for 2 months and figured the worst had y

I have been on accutane for 3 days now but first I wanted to make an introduction about my acne. here we go! I am a 17 year old female and have been struggling with face and back acne for 3 years. I have very oily skin. My acne began when I was 14 years old. It wasn't too unbearable at first. I had a few pimples on my forehead and around my nose. Never anywhere else on my face. But after a couple months my skin grew worse and became very oily. Products from the drugstore were not helping
  11. Hello All, I am 24 years old, male. I have had acne since I was 14 and tried everything from Proactive to everything from over counter medications, face washes and so on. I even tried two different antibiotics, which helped facially, but overall I needed something else. I took antibiotics for about four years and finally decided about taking Absorica (Accutane). Originally when I heard about it, it freaked me out and I wanted nothing to do with it because of the potential of serious side effect

    Accutane Journey

This is my first post on Acne.org I've been struggling with acne since I was about 11. I'm now 24 and have tried every acne product under the sun. I finally decided to take the tane plunge and I'm now in my fourth week. I've been logging my experience but I wasn't sure where to post it until I found this site! Hopefully this can help someone who's just starting out. I would love feedback from tane users that are ahead of me on what to expect! Week one: I haven't really noticed much of a di
  13. Day One Today is my first day on Accutane, more specifically the name brand Absorica. To be honest I am starting this new treatment quite suddenly. Just this morning I had my first appointment (ever) with a Dermatologist. I have had Acne since about eighth grade, and now that I am officially through my first semester of college, I definitely am getting tired of dealing with it. Throughout the years I have tried many different regiments and programs, some worked better than others, but never

2 WEEKS IN.. Like in my last post I will be breaking this one down into parts. SIDE AFFECTS: Pretty much the same but getting slightly dryer as time goes on. I haven't had any more nosebleeds and the joint pain has gone down. My lips are very dry and I feel myself always having to apply lip balm or they will hurt. My face is peeling a little bit but that's just because my skin is so dry. My body is not that dry yet. HOW MY SKIN IS LOOKING: I think my skin is definitely purging because I've
  15. IM SOOOOOOOOO SORRY I haven't been on here in a while. February was a crazy month for me and I didn't get around to posting. It was very eventful. I know I'm kinda late in the game to be saying this but THE PANTHERS LOST THE SUPER BOWL AND MY HEART WAS BREAKING but anyway back to my progress. And I've had a lot of progress with my skin. I'm kinda mad at myself for not posting but plz forgive me. Lets get started. First I wanna do a recap for Feb and then I'll get into this months news. For Fe

    Week 4 On Accutane

Hey everyone! So here's an update on what's been happening with the accutane. Week 4 was sort of bad-ish. I feel like my good weeks and bad weeks keep alternating. Hopefully that stops soon. Anyways, the area between my eyebrows is staying clear, but my chin is continuing to break out. I guess this is supposed to happen though because I had a ton of under-the-skin whitehead-ish looking bumps before starting accutane. =/ I had a bump above my upper lip and one of each side of my nose also. =/ Tho
  17. Day 19! I have to go have my bloodwork redone somewhat soon and I'm dreading it... I don't do well with needles. But oh well, it's totally worth it. Results so far: Amazing, this is the part of my cycle where I normally break out badly. Last month (pre-accutane) around this time I probably got about 5 or 6 somewhat painful pimples/ whiteheads on my cheeks/ the sides of my chin. This month, one whitehead right next to my nose and that's it. My skin really has been great since starting my co

    Week 3 On Accutane

Hey everyone! So I am almost finished with week 3 on accutane... and I have good news! My skin has looked better than it ever has in the past two years. I am extremely impressed with this product. All of the bumps between my eyebrows are gone. Almost all of the bumps of my chin are gone (a few are still underneath the surface). The areas between my eyebrows are still red and the pores are still open, but this is easily concealed with some foundation. Foundation that I recommend: Chanel perf

Accutane Round 2: Absorica, Month 2

Hey guys! I'm a 20 year old female, 5'4'' and 115 pounds. This is my second round on accutane. I was only on it for three months last time until I had to stop because I couldn't afford it anymore. Last round I was taking Claravis and it cleared my face up really fast without any initial breakouts at all. Now that I can afford it again, I'm on accutane for a second round because it came back a little more severe but still moderate. I started Absorica on July 29, 2014 at 20mg. I'm currently at 40m
  22. Hey everyone. I'm writing this as a summary of my Accutane experience. I'm a 34 yo Male who's suffered from moderate to severe acne since my mid-teens. I know it's cliche, but I've done everything under the sun (basically all products) and very expensive food sensitivity tests and monthly esthetician visits. My acne would go through brief periods of clarity (although there was always a little acne) and then breakout quite regularly. About once a year i would have a MAJOR breakout where whi
  23. In the middle of MONTH 3! Still in the "Gets worse before it gets better" phase... and am TIRED of it. Side effects- Dry, swollen lips (bearable), dry skin(better than month 2 though), hair thinning. 60mg Absorica, now taking both 30mgs with high-fat dinner per derms request since I wasn't "dry enough" at my last appointment. Feeling: Extremely discouraged.. Tired of the redness (Thankful for Mac concealer!) My face has definitely never been this bad before. Does anyone's face look
  24. I'm a 17 year old female who started Accutane in February. After being on many different expensive prescriptions (i.e. Clindamycin Phosphate + Benzoyl Peroxide, Minocycline, Adapalene) since 7th grade that did absolutely nothing for my face acne, my doctor said the last resort was for me to be put on Accutane. I was on this for 3 months and saw no results. I experienced only some of the many side effects associated with this drug. My skin was severely sensitive to the sun- it turned bright toma
