  1. Hi. Ive been on accutane for nine weeks and this has been my dosage so far: -Week 1 and 2: 20 mg/day -Week 3 and 4: 20 mg and 40 mg every other day -Week 5-9: 40 mg/day My question is: my derm told me one month ago that in about one month (today) I could increase my dosage to 40 mg and 60 mg every other day. But im still breaking out pretty bad, so Im wondering if I should stay on 40 mg/day until it has calmed down, or if I should increase my dosage regardless of my breakout. Im so afraid
  2. I just started taking one 20mg pill per week. NOT per day. I tried 40mg per day a while back and didn't get very far due to the side effects. so it has been about a week so far on 20mg/week, obviously not going to see any results yet but I am looking for others to share their experience with taking a low dose course like mine so i can get a general understanding of how long it usually takes for people to see positive results with this kind of dose. so please share your experience(s), there are n
  3. First day on accutane! I'm turning 21 in a couple of months and I've had acne since the eighth grade (so about 8 years). Every year it gets worse. Right now it would only take a glance to know that my acne is severe. My forehead is usually okay, with minimal scarring. However, both of my cheeks and chin are pretty much all covered with marks and breakouts. And recently, I've started breaking out near both my temples, which makes my whole face covered in acne. Since I probably can't get

    From the album: My Acne

This is when I started my Accutane Journey. 40 mg. I also learned that my forehead acne was being caused by not properly rinsing the shampoo and conditioner off of my face. I started making sure washing my face was the last thing I did in the shower and everything along my hair line cleared up. This gave my some insight on the kind of acne I have. The acne I have on my cheeks and jawline has always been the most stubborn and its not caused by anything on the outside; it is all hormonal.

    Day 3

From the album: Accutane (Zenatane) Journey

Skin starting to peel a little around my acne.
  6. Hi there, I'm currently on 40mg of Accutane and I'm 40 days late on my period. I'm just wondering when my cycles will go back to normal? I've heard browsing through some past posts that irregular periods can occur, but it's not listed as a side effect on the medication pamphlet that comes with Accutane. I'm not on any form of contraceptives but I'm not sexually active and I will never be at a risk for engaging in any sexual activity. I got my blood test results back last week which revealed I'
  7. Hi everyone! Today is my first day on Accutane and I decided to read some logs on here to sort of give me hope. Well, it scared me more than anything. I would like to know what products you ex or current Accutane users are using to reduce common side-effects. I've heard about chapped lips so I got myself a repairing lip-balm. I've read that some users get nosebleeds and that is something I've never experienced before and I don't want to experience it so is it safe to use a nasal spray for dr

    Week 5 on accutane

I’m a bit late updating as not much has really happened. Just over a week ago my doctor upped me to 40mg, he warned me that because I had such a good first month my skin would likely get worse for a while when increasing my dosage. My skin has actually stayed the same, I haven’t had any breakouts, the only think I’ve noticed is that other parts of my body are starting to get really dry now too like my arms and knees. One thing that did surprise me is the price of the Isotretinoin. 20mg onl
  10. Went to the Dermatologist 17 days ago but I was waiting to see how my face would be after receiving several steroid shots in my face! WTF! Those pesky ones on my left cheek just wouldn’t go away and the Derm suggested steroid shots to help them heal. I got 3 or 4 injections…and a couple of them did sting. Took almost a full week and those pesky ones finally went away! I feel a lot better and look a lot better! Also wanted to wait to post to see what would happen when that time of the mont
  11. Hello all, So, I am about 4 months in on accutane; first 3 months I was on 30mg/day, and this previous month I was on 40mg/day. Before this past month I noticed a very slight increase in sweating in my eyebrows. This month It has definitely increased. I can't find too much about this on this site or any other site. I have contacted my derm and waiting for a response, but I was hoping maybe someone could tell me if this is potentially a permanent side effect? There is absolutely no history of hy

    End Of Week 6

Hello All, So I mentioned before that I was going to see my Derm this week to see where I was with my treatment etc. looks like my body is taking accutane very well, as my side effects are not as severe as what most people go through. 1. My initial breakout was a couple of big cysts, only lasting for just less than two weeks. Apparently some people can suffer from IB for a month. However, she did say that this can be curbed with antibiotics and it's rare that it should last that long -

    End Of Week 11

Oh I am so sorry guys - January has been a particularly crazy month....! So in my last post it was end of week 8 and I have seen some great results. Really, the only thing that I have to deal with now is the scarring. Mine is so bad from all the awful blemishes and my complete inability to NOT mess with them.... As I can't exfoliate or use any products that encourage peeling etc. I will just have to let time run it's course. I did think about perhaps using BioOil, as people seem to see res

    Day 13 and 14

So definitely noticing some dryness and my nose has been a little bloody. Lips are gradually getting a little more dry too. But overall the last couple days have been okay. Still getting breakouts daily.
  15. Ok I am now into month 4 of my accutane treatment. I originally started on 20Mg for one month, then they upped me to 30mg for two months and then last month I was put on 40mg - I have been told this will be my limit. I am a little deflated to be honest with you. My skin has only made a slight (and I mean slight!) improvement, I am still getting many spots each day, much cystic acne on my face. My back acne seems to come and go (at the moment it seems to be clear). I am suffering still fr

Day 18 (Clavaris 40Mg Once Daily)

Sooooo like i've been reading alot on this site, its very common for people around day 15-21 to get like an exersion of blackheads :/. Welp this is currently happening! I knew something would have to come up sooner or later!!! I've read almost every comment on them and people say they should just completely fall out in a few weeks. Hopefully they do because this is terrible and the most i've ever seen on my face at once. Ofcourse i'm staring an inch away from the mirror examining, but it's hard

    Day 71 - 10 weeks in

Greetings ladies and gentlemen, So, it’s been yet another week but it’s been pretty easy I guess. I was off of my accutane for 6 days. Why? Well I guess my insurance covers accutane but only under the name of “zenatane” so every time my derm writes the prescription for “accutane”, my insurance doesn't allow my pharmacy to fill it and phone calls have to be made and it takes forever. So, it was not filled until the night of my last day to pick it up when I was completely unavailable so calls to
  18. Day 6 on Zenatane 40mg a day (20mg morning and night): Skincare and makeup: CeraVe foaming facial cleanser (morning and night) DHC deep cleansing oil (to remove makeup) CeraVe moisturizing lotion (morning and night) Aquaphor (for lips) Tarte amazonian clay foundation NARS creamy concealer Update: Minimal symptoms / side effects No major breakouts - small pustules near both temples but smooth texture overall Eyes feel a little dry and tired Feeling more lethargic than usual (although did
  19. Sorry, I actually started Claravis 13 days ago but i have a WILD story to share with you guys. 40mg a day background: used to be mild acne when i was 14-15 it turned into moderate acne next couple years then into severe acne when i turned 17 I was on antibiotics 4 months prior to taking accutane. My derm told me since i had been on antibiotics my IB wouldn't be so bad....WOW was she wrong....read this horror story below. Days 1-6 - I didn't have any noticable side effects other tha

    End Of Week 5

Hello All, So, I feel confident enough to post a pic...before my roaccutane treatment began (check out that STONKER on my foehead!) and after 5 weeks. Happy to say that the results are great ! Still on the same skincare regime and not experiencing any flakiness on my face or dryness - so Body Shop's Vitamin E range is perfect for me. Seeing my derm this week for my first follow up appt, quite excited to hear her advice on my prescription, if she'll bump me up to 60mg a day. Still no

    Day 5

So last night while I was working (5 HOURS LATER THAN I WAS SUPPOSED TO) I got anxious and annoyed so I picked at my face, horrible I know but I won't anymore. There were just so many pop-able ones. Anyways, oddly enough my face looks better today kinda and I've had a bunch of little baby pimples pop up on my checks, nose, and chin. No dryness yet other than potentially inside my nose. Also, my mouth tastes a little weird/different right when I wake up. I wonder if that is related to accutane.

    Day 17

Helllooooo, so my nose continues to be dry and a little bloody. My neti-pot is going to become my best friend so I don't look like a 22 year old that still picks their nose. My scalp is already drying out. I'm blonde and I used to barely get away with going 24 hours without washing my hair cause the greasiness would turn me into a brunette but today I actually had to question when the last time I washed it was because it still hasn't gotten greasy! I've been tired/lazy lately but I don't really

    Day 2

From the album: Accutane (Zenatane) Journey

Nothing has really happened or changed at this point. This picture is just mostly for reference for a before/after for later. Mostly blackheads but some cystic bumps on my back. Few whiteheads.

General update. The right side of my face is currently the worst.

    Initial breakout

So, yeah. I'm 11days in. I guess I'm getting some of the initial breakout, but it isn't so bad: pimples on my T-zone that showed up yesterday, but they have already mostly deflated today and are manageable. I put ice on the inflamed ones immediately to reduce, and then a little tea tree oil, but they definitely reduced faster than they would have before accutane. Also I'm not too worried because except for the T-zone my skin is awesome, and I have whole parts of my face where I didn't put any
