    day 1 - 25 accutane

I have had acne since age 10! It is mainly hormonal and oily spots. I basically been on anti-biotic for 6 year trying to treat it but its persistent! My acne compared to some cases ive seen is mild. I have lots of little pimps on my forehead, cheeks, and breakout regularly in some puss spots but no cysts etc. However i thought i'd grow out of acne but 8 years on it's still persistent! I always denied accutane as i was young and didn't want to deal with the side effects like dry skin and mood swi
  2. I’m a bit late updating as not much has really happened. Just over a week ago my doctor upped me to 40mg, he warned me that because I had such a good first month my skin would likely get worse for a while when increasing my dosage. My skin has actually stayed the same, I haven’t had any breakouts, the only think I’ve noticed is that other parts of my body are starting to get really dry now too like my arms and knees. One thing that did surprise me is the price of the Isotretinoin. 20mg onl
  3. Greetings ladies and gentlemen, So, it’s been yet another week but it’s been pretty easy I guess. I was off of my accutane for 6 days. Why? Well I guess my insurance covers accutane but only under the name of “zenatane” so every time my derm writes the prescription for “accutane”, my insurance doesn't allow my pharmacy to fill it and phone calls have to be made and it takes forever. So, it was not filled until the night of my last day to pick it up when I was completely unavailable so calls to
  4. So, yeah. I'm 11days in. I guess I'm getting some of the initial breakout, but it isn't so bad: pimples on my T-zone that showed up yesterday, but they have already mostly deflated today and are manageable. I put ice on the inflamed ones immediately to reduce, and then a little tea tree oil, but they definitely reduced faster than they would have before accutane. Also I'm not too worried because except for the T-zone my skin is awesome, and I have whole parts of my face where I didn't put any
  5. Went to the Dermatologist 17 days ago but I was waiting to see how my face would be after receiving several steroid shots in my face! WTF! Those pesky ones on my left cheek just wouldn’t go away and the Derm suggested steroid shots to help them heal. I got 3 or 4 injections…and a couple of them did sting. Took almost a full week and those pesky ones finally went away! I feel a lot better and look a lot better! Also wanted to wait to post to see what would happen when that time of the mont

    Day 17

Helllooooo, so my nose continues to be dry and a little bloody. My neti-pot is going to become my best friend so I don't look like a 22 year old that still picks their nose. My scalp is already drying out. I'm blonde and I used to barely get away with going 24 hours without washing my hair cause the greasiness would turn me into a brunette but today I actually had to question when the last time I washed it was because it still hasn't gotten greasy! I've been tired/lazy lately but I don't really
  7. So definitely noticing some dryness and my nose has been a little bloody. Lips are gradually getting a little more dry too. But overall the last couple days have been okay. Still getting breakouts daily.

    Day 5

So last night while I was working (5 HOURS LATER THAN I WAS SUPPOSED TO) I got anxious and annoyed so I picked at my face, horrible I know but I won't anymore. There were just so many pop-able ones. Anyways, oddly enough my face looks better today kinda and I've had a bunch of little baby pimples pop up on my checks, nose, and chin. No dryness yet other than potentially inside my nose. Also, my mouth tastes a little weird/different right when I wake up. I wonder if that is related to accutane.

    Week 22 40Mg

Skin was decent until the day before my residential trip and it just decided to explode again, so angry and upset as my skin alway always turns bad right before anything special or important. Got 3 pimpes on my forehead and a cyst on my chin, skin is also very very red and I'm starting to get pitted scars which is terrifying Oh wellll The side of my lip has been split for a couple days now and just won't heal, also as I'm a smoker, when I put a cigarette to my lips it will stick and pull away

    End Of Week 11

Oh I am so sorry guys - January has been a particularly crazy month....! So in my last post it was end of week 8 and I have seen some great results. Really, the only thing that I have to deal with now is the scarring. Mine is so bad from all the awful blemishes and my complete inability to NOT mess with them.... As I can't exfoliate or use any products that encourage peeling etc. I will just have to let time run it's course. I did think about perhaps using BioOil, as people seem to see res
  11. Hi everyone, So over the past few days I got probably 5 to 10 new zits that were on my cheeks. They were all pretty small, but I was worried that my IB was starting. But when I looked in the mirror this afternoon, my face was not nearly as bad as I thought it was. So, I think that some of the zits that I got just went away because they were so small. Still, not really experiencing any intense dryness. I obviously do have some dryness but it's not bad enough for me to be using mois

    End Of Week 8

Hola All, Merry Christmas!! I hope you all celebrated in style with lots of family and loved ones! My apologies - I have missed Week 7 as I have been on holiday in China over Christmas and a lot of websites are banned there, including this one! However I am pleased to say that all is still going well with the treatment. I am starting to notice more severity in the side effects, my hands are starting to crack and I'm having to moisturise them as much as my lips...(accutane still has N

    End Of Week 6

Hello All, So I mentioned before that I was going to see my Derm this week to see where I was with my treatment etc. looks like my body is taking accutane very well, as my side effects are not as severe as what most people go through. 1. My initial breakout was a couple of big cysts, only lasting for just less than two weeks. Apparently some people can suffer from IB for a month. However, she did say that this can be curbed with antibiotics and it's rare that it should last that long -

    End Of Week 5

Hello All, So, I feel confident enough to post a pic...before my roaccutane treatment began (check out that STONKER on my foehead!) and after 5 weeks. Happy to say that the results are great ! Still on the same skincare regime and not experiencing any flakiness on my face or dryness - so Body Shop's Vitamin E range is perfect for me. Seeing my derm this week for my first follow up appt, quite excited to hear her advice on my prescription, if she'll bump me up to 60mg a day. Still no
  15. Sooooo like i've been reading alot on this site, its very common for people around day 15-21 to get like an exersion of blackheads :/. Welp this is currently happening! I knew something would have to come up sooner or later!!! I've read almost every comment on them and people say they should just completely fall out in a few weeks. Hopefully they do because this is terrible and the most i've ever seen on my face at once. Ofcourse i'm staring an inch away from the mirror examining, but it's hard
  16. From the album: My Acne

This is when I started my Accutane Journey. 40 mg. I also learned that my forehead acne was being caused by not properly rinsing the shampoo and conditioner off of my face. I started making sure washing my face was the last thing I did in the shower and everything along my hair line cleared up. This gave my some insight on the kind of acne I have. The acne I have on my cheeks and jawline has always been the most stubborn and its not caused by anything on the outside; it is all hormonal.

  18. From the album: Accutane (Zenatane) Journey

General update. The right side of my face is currently the worst.
  19. From the album: Accutane (Zenatane) Journey

Nothing has really happened or changed at this point. This picture is just mostly for reference for a before/after for later. Mostly blackheads but some cystic bumps on my back. Few whiteheads.
  20. From the album: Accutane (Zenatane) Journey

Skin starting to peel a little around my acne.
  21. I just started taking one 20mg pill per week. NOT per day. I tried 40mg per day a while back and didn't get very far due to the side effects. so it has been about a week so far on 20mg/week, obviously not going to see any results yet but I am looking for others to share their experience with taking a low dose course like mine so i can get a general understanding of how long it usually takes for people to see positive results with this kind of dose. so please share your experience(s), there are n
  22. Hi everyone! Today is my first day on Accutane and I decided to read some logs on here to sort of give me hope. Well, it scared me more than anything. I would like to know what products you ex or current Accutane users are using to reduce common side-effects. I've heard about chapped lips so I got myself a repairing lip-balm. I've read that some users get nosebleeds and that is something I've never experienced before and I don't want to experience it so is it safe to use a nasal spray for dr
  23. Is experiencing tinnitus immediately on Accutane normal or a big concern? I was prescribed one 40mg pill a day a month ago- and after just two pills (two days) I had a high pitched ringing in my ears that was noticeable in all quiet spaces- especially when going to sleep and waking up in the morning. I had also experienced a headache, located on the back of my head, with a pressure or clamped sensation rather than in the temple area. Knowing that tinnitus was considered a "rare" side effect on
  24. Hi. Ive been on accutane for nine weeks and this has been my dosage so far: -Week 1 and 2: 20 mg/day -Week 3 and 4: 20 mg and 40 mg every other day -Week 5-9: 40 mg/day My question is: my derm told me one month ago that in about one month (today) I could increase my dosage to 40 mg and 60 mg every other day. But im still breaking out pretty bad, so Im wondering if I should stay on 40 mg/day until it has calmed down, or if I should increase my dosage regardless of my breakout. Im so afraid
  25. Hello all, So, I am about 4 months in on accutane; first 3 months I was on 30mg/day, and this previous month I was on 40mg/day. Before this past month I noticed a very slight increase in sweating in my eyebrows. This month It has definitely increased. I can't find too much about this on this site or any other site. I have contacted my derm and waiting for a response, but I was hoping maybe someone could tell me if this is potentially a permanent side effect? There is absolutely no history of hy
