    Frustrated With Derm

Hi all,I am currently 2 months into my accutane course. I am taking 20mg/day and I weigh between 52-53kg. I visited the nhs derm last week and he said that my skin was looking good and I may only have to do a 4 month course. However he only gave my skin a brief glance and said that I had no active acne... a massive lie! that day I had 2 new cysts on my left cheek as well as some on my back, as well as blackheads on my nose, chest and back. Is my derm blind or optimistic? My acne isn't severe how
  2. Hello everyone, I've never been one to log things or to write diaries but as I know friends who have taken accutane a few years back, no one seems able to remember their experience so well. All I remember is nose bleeds, the typical dry scabs either side of their lips and a really sweaty forehead in any mild heat. (This is still happening with a friend who ended their course over two years ago. So I decided I would like to document my journey in hope it may help someone else some day!
  3. My skin is getting more and more oily but it doesn't bother me much. I had 3 days of binge eating chocolate, crisps, cake, cheeses, everything and I got a few comedones and bumps on my forhead and chin which just intlamed, blistered and then peeled off. I also got this weird bumpy rash around the sides of my face but it disappeared as soon as I started eating properly I'm very glad I do not get cysts anymore and My acne may not be much of a problem but I think I still have some kind of dermatit

    Week 27 20Mg

Well my friendss, I am down to my last two packs and I'm am tapering down to 20mg The marks left from last weeks breakout have only just healed and I know they are going become lovely new scars to add to my collection It has been so hot and sunny here in the uk and the sun always helps my skin No actives just one weird little non inflamed thinggy on my forehead next to a scar Only thing I am really annoyed about is the fact that my nose still has blackheads and still produces oil but ohhweee
  5. Hi everyone! Today is my first day on Accutane and I decided to read some logs on here to sort of give me hope. Well, it scared me more than anything. I would like to know what products you ex or current Accutane users are using to reduce common side-effects. I've heard about chapped lips so I got myself a repairing lip-balm. I've read that some users get nosebleeds and that is something I've never experienced before and I don't want to experience it so is it safe to use a nasal spray for dr

    Week 5 on accutane

I’m a bit late updating as not much has really happened. Just over a week ago my doctor upped me to 40mg, he warned me that because I had such a good first month my skin would likely get worse for a while when increasing my dosage. My skin has actually stayed the same, I haven’t had any breakouts, the only think I’ve noticed is that other parts of my body are starting to get really dry now too like my arms and knees. One thing that did surprise me is the price of the Isotretinoin. 20mg onl

    Hello

Hello Guys, so I have started taking Accutane about 5 weeks ago. As I am very interested in the topic and have been reading a log of logs lately I thought it might be nice to share my experience with you. First, a little bit about myself. I am 16 years old, I am from Germany (so pardon any grammar mistakes) and I have been suffering under acne since I was about ten. I have had all levels of acne. It started out really light and kept getting worse until I was 14. Then it went back and for a fe

    One Week

It has been one week since i started taking the 10 mg pills twice a day, so 20 mg. There hasnt been many changes yet, but i have had stomach pains twice, but I took paracetomol and they went away. The ores around my nose have become very visible and large, and Ive been getting tiny little bumps around my chin and forehead where i dont usually get them. Havent experienced any dryness in the lips and skin, although I feel more thirsty. I hope my skin will start to clear up soon.
  9. Hi all, In October 2017, after >15 years of antibiotics, contraceptive pills, topical treatment and a few dietary approaches I stormed into my doctors office and refused to leave before I was prescribed roaccutane. A colleague of mine had just said my shoulder would look like a "moon crater" which gave me the last push. I was breaking out every month around the start of my period, the scar tissue on my face and back worsened considerably over the years and there was no other cure in sight. H

    First day on Roaccutane

Hey guys! So yesterday I had my appointment at the hospital to start my Roaccutane journey. I was so excited and couldn't wait to get started. After doing a pregnancy test and a long chat with the dermatologist I signed the papers regarding pregnancy and birth defects and was prescribed Roaccutane YAY. I am only on 20mg to start which is the lowest dose but said I will go up to 40mg in month two. Was just wondering if anyone who is on 20mg could let me know when to expect side effects e.g dryn

    Day 2 of Accutane

    From the album: Accutane journey

2nd day of Accutane and I broke out on my chin and upper lip.
  12. I just started taking one 20mg pill per week. NOT per day. I tried 40mg per day a while back and didn't get very far due to the side effects. so it has been about a week so far on 20mg/week, obviously not going to see any results yet but I am looking for others to share their experience with taking a low dose course like mine so i can get a general understanding of how long it usually takes for people to see positive results with this kind of dose. so please share your experience(s), there are n
  13. Hey guys!! Haven't done an update in a couple of months, so I thought I better let you all know how things are going! So I have been on Oratane (Accutane) for 5 & a half months (25 weeks, 172 days) now and I had a dermatologist appointment last week. He told me that once I have completed the rest of my pack that I have left - I'm done!! Only 8 more pills left! So that's 6 months, 3 on 20mg & 3 on 10mg. & I couldn't be more happier to be back to normal!! He told me if I wa

    5 Months Post Accutane

Hey guys, So I finished a 6 month course of Oratane/Accutane in November last year & now on my 5th month post course I have started getting pimples again. Needless to say, I am SO. GUTTED!!!! I started a new job this week & what is most probably due to the stress of the change I have broken out crazy I have gone from having almost perfect skin since I finished the oratane to having like 15 pimples on my face in the space of the week. Does anyone else have any experienc

    Week 28 20Mg

Since decreasing my dose, my side effects seemed to blow up all over again, my back kills, excema literally appeared overnight and my lips got so so sore Got a couple closed comedones on my forehead which I extracted and have now gone, but my skin is still so sensitive and fragile I'm so terrified of coming off accutane I just have this mortifying, deep down feeling that it will come back straight away, from tomorrow I will be taking 10mg a day for another week and then that's it.. After accu

It's been a week since I've started using Accutane again. So far, so good! My skin doesn't look too different RN, I've had a couple of new spots but the ones from pre Accutane are still there but slowly drying out! My skin just looks really red and blotchy though which I feel is just as bad as having spots. I have noticed my skin to be a lot less greasy though. As far as side effects go, the first 3/4 days were fine, I didn't really notice a change in my skin, but in the past couple days my

    Going private - Accutane

A Bit About My Acne: I started getting mild acne at the age of 13; as I got older I started getting under the skin cysts and my acne became more moderate. I’m 20 now and my acne severity has lessened with the help of the pill and creams, although my skin is still not where I would like it to be. My First Dermatology Appointment: After a bad break out last month I begged my Doctor to refer me to a dermatologist. The waiting list in my area to see a dermatologist is 8 months, so I ended up
  18. Gday! I have just been recommended for another round of accutane by my dermatologist. I will 10mg for first 2 weeks then up to 20mg from then on, this apparently combats the initial breakout and minimises side effects. Has anyone else had a similar course? Please share if you did. Thanks heaps!

    Week 7 / Day 46

Hi guys! So I am at work right now & I'm not wearing any make up! (From the photos I am obviously wearing lipstick but I mean no make up to cover my skin ie foundation or concealer!) I just wanted to share a quick update with everyone, because I'm so so excited about this! I have never come to work without make up on, even before my skin got bad. So this is an AMAZING step for me & my confidence! It's been 2 weeks since I've had even a small pimple & my face is completely cl

Week 10 - Itchy, Moody, Itchy!

I am into my third month!! Wooo so happy about that. So I'll start with the good news: I am still completely clear! It almost seems years ago that I was obsessing over & so upset about my skin, & no matter the side effects I get I have to remember that it's the whole reason I'm on Oratane & it's doing what I want it to! But there are definitely side effects I'm getting. At the moment the main ones are: Eczema: It is OUT OF CONTROL!!! It's the worst it's ever been in my who
