  1. Hey guys, So I finished a 6 month course of Oratane/Accutane in November last year & now on my 5th month post course I have started getting pimples again. Needless to say, I am SO. GUTTED!!!! I started a new job this week & what is most probably due to the stress of the change I have broken out crazy I have gone from having almost perfect skin since I finished the oratane to having like 15 pimples on my face in the space of the week. Does anyone else have any experienc
  2. Hey guys!! Haven't done an update in a couple of months, so I thought I better let you all know how things are going! So I have been on Oratane (Accutane) for 5 & a half months (25 weeks, 172 days) now and I had a dermatologist appointment last week. He told me that once I have completed the rest of my pack that I have left - I'm done!! Only 8 more pills left! So that's 6 months, 3 on 20mg & 3 on 10mg. & I couldn't be more happier to be back to normal!! He told me if I wa
  3. I just started taking one 20mg pill per week. NOT per day. I tried 40mg per day a while back and didn't get very far due to the side effects. so it has been about a week so far on 20mg/week, obviously not going to see any results yet but I am looking for others to share their experience with taking a low dose course like mine so i can get a general understanding of how long it usually takes for people to see positive results with this kind of dose. so please share your experience(s), there are n
  4. Hey everyone!!I've had moderate acne for the past 4 years and after endless medications and prescriptions I have built up the courage to go on Accutane! I've read so so many threads and logs and so many people have had great results! For the past 3 months this summer my acne took a turn for the worst after I got bronchitis and had to take a lot of medication (i thought antibiotics would help me??). Anyway, I've been even more depressed than usual and I barely leave the house so I don't pigment m
  5. Acne has ruined my life I have had acne since I was 12 years old I didn't really care when I was younger. I was on doxycycline on and off for 7 years it helped while I was on it but it wasn't the cure. I tried changing my diet no milk no sugar nothing help. I don't have any friends anymore because I don't like going out anymore.People thought I was really weird because I have social anxiety now it's because of acne. I don't have a job because every time I go for a interview I can't
  6. Is experiencing tinnitus immediately on Accutane normal or a big concern? I was prescribed one 40mg pill a day a month ago- and after just two pills (two days) I had a high pitched ringing in my ears that was noticeable in all quiet spaces- especially when going to sleep and waking up in the morning. I had also experienced a headache, located on the back of my head, with a pressure or clamped sensation rather than in the temple area. Knowing that tinnitus was considered a "rare" side effect on
  7. Hi everyone, I've had acne for quite some time now, nearly 4 years ever since I was 16 years old.I've tried many thing in those 4 years to try and cure my acne and nothing worked. So many facewashes, spot treatments, using tanning beds,Tactuo/Epiduo,Biacne,some other cream that I forgot the name of,Doxycyline, and did a laser based treatment called Lumicleanse just this summer.I told myself that if the Lumicleanse wouldn't have worked I was just gonna give in and try Accutane once and for all t
  8. im 27 year old girl and my acne is mild to moderate at times - hormonal i think, but I am really tired of having bad skin at my age. My dermatologist has given me a prescription for very low dose of Roaccutane (10mg) to take but i am really reluctant to do this after lots of research , since there seem to be so many side effects some apparently which can stay with you forever. in any case my acne is thankfully not as bad as a lot of people's but it does really get me down at my age to always ha
  9. My skin journey has been for a lack of better words...a journey. Throughout my teen years, I never had acne on my face. I did struggle with a bit of back acne when I was 16-17 however, I live in a pretty cold climate so it was easily covered up for about 75% of the year. Once I hit 18, I went on tricyclen-lo (BC) to keep it under control and it cleared up immediately. About a year later, I decided to get off BC but luckily there was no flare-ups with the acne. My doctor prescribed Retin

Still not a single cyst or inflammatory acne however I am noticing more of those small bumps popping up again which is discouraging Skin looks pretty bad mostly because of all the scarring and lingering red marks, every little comedone or blackhead or anything I extract (i know i shouldnt)seems to leave a mark I'm still hoping the drug will help with the clogged pores, if anyone reading this who has taken accutane could tell me if or when they noticed any improvement with their pores? This
  11. Hi there, I have finally reached this stage of getting my hands on Accutane... I so want to finally begin my path to clear skin and start my life. I have such low esteem, I say no to social outings, I struggle to look people in the eye, my entire headspace is filled about thoughts of my skin. A little info about me: I'm 17 turning 18 this year, Asian, female, from Australia. My height is 168cm and I weigh 50kg or 110lb. The derm has prescribed me 10mg of Oratane 3 times a week. I eat very health
  12. I've been on 10mg of accutane once a day for about 5ish weeks now. I have moderate acne w/ cystic bumps and pretty dark scarring. It cleared up in a week but after the second week it started coming back but I assumed it was purging (also is purging legit? or a myth?) because all my blackheads in my nose and on my cheeks and chin began pushing out. My hair stopped being extremely greasy and my nose was smooth but now my hair is getting greasy again and I'm getting more pimples again. Am I purging
  13. So I'm wondering...how do I convince my derm in a soon-to-be visit to allow me for like, 10mg? I'm fairly sure from the studies I read that it would knock my acne on its ass, and I'm tired of having acne. The hyperpigmentation is awful because I get like 3 new spots a day, so my skin never has a chance to heal, and it leaves deep red marks, plus I have two moon shaped indents now ( for those who think moderate acne doesn't rip up your face sometimes). I still use salycylic acid but it just m
  14. Gday! I have just been recommended for another round of accutane by my dermatologist. I will 10mg for first 2 weeks then up to 20mg from then on, this apparently combats the initial breakout and minimises side effects. Has anyone else had a similar course? Please share if you did. Thanks heaps!

    Week 3 10Mg

Breakout definitely subsided, although it feels as if all the small bumps and comedones are coming to the surface slowly which feels horrible but kinda encouraging to know my skin is 'purging' out all this crap. It's is very hard to measure progress when the whole texture of your skin is also changing, the dry skin has started and I have flaking skin around my nose and chin and strange dry patches on my arms. I'm quite surprised at how fast I'm noticing changes at such a low dose My lips were p
  16. Hi there I'll be documenting my progress on my low dose accutane course and hope to hear from others on a low dose course as it would be great to compare experiences with progress, effects etc For the time being I will be taking 10mg and plan to up my dose to 20mg after a few months if needed. I suffer from mild yet very persistent cystic acne and terribly clogged and congested skin I believe I am experiencing my initial breakout however I usually always breakout around 'that time of the month
  17. I am a 54kg female (early 20’s) with mild/moderate (although annoyingly persistent) acne and my derm has prescribed me 10mg Roaccutane per day as a starting dose. My acne is characterized by mainly closed comedones all over my cheeks and jaw with some cystic which tend to scar very badly. I’ve attached some pictures below of my skin pre-Accutane for reference. Weirdly it seems to be way more severe on my right side, with my left only having a small amount of closed comedones (no cysts).
  18. Im a 20yr old female, ive been on bactrim double strength for 2 months with epiduo, but it hasnt worked it helping me with really stubborn cystic pimples on my cheek. (but bactrim has done wonders for my back acne!) I started accutane about 1 week ago, my skin before accutane had actually improved heaps because i had to wait so long to the dermatologist, but she prescribed me accutane anyway, She told me to continue using bactrim for two months (gradually decsreasing the dose befores stopping a
  19. Hello! 4 days ago my dermatologist prescribed me with 10mg of Clarus a day along with TactuPump (Adapalene and benzoyl peroxide, 0.1% / 2.5%). I am 16, male, and on the thin side. I will try to be posting every day or every other day because I know how helpful these forums were when I decided to try Accutane. I would say I have mild-moderate acne. I've had acne for a long time, since I was about 11, and I've tried everything from topicals to antibiotics but nothing worked. So as a last resort, I
  20. I am beginning a 20mg/week microdose of accutane, I have seen forums where people take one 20mg pill once a week and others take a 10mg pill twice per week, and examples where some people take 40mg once a week and others take a 20mg pill twice per week... does anyone know if there is a difference when taking a certain amount of accutane once a week as opposed to achieving the same weekly amount by taking smaller pills less often? when i tried 10mg twice a week (20mg weekly), i noticed a tiny bit
  21. I have had mild acne that is sometimes moderate since I was 15 years old. I am 19 now, and I have tried almost every single topical under the sun, and also going dairy free and gluten free (didn't work for me, go figure). Because I wanted something that was almost guaranteed to clear me up, I began taking 10mg per day of Accutane nearly 3-4 months ago after seeing almost everyone get great results with such a low dose, and I wanted to avoid the higher side effects. I no longer have oily skin, in
  22. I have started on a very very low dosage (10mg / once a day). I actually asked my dermatologist to go higher, but she wanted me on a low dosage for 6 weeks before upping it. First day, nothing major, the only thing I noticed was being really thirsty/ feeling dehydrated. I think I ended up drinking like 4-5 litres of water and still not feeling satisfied. I made an effort to take Accutane with a reasonably fatty meal (a butter croissant) but going forward I'll try avocado on toast / somethi

  25. Hi, im begining my accutane journey tommorow and will be keeping a journal so i can keep track of my progress and results. Im going on a low dose of 10mg to lessen the side effects. I will also be doing heavy lifting and strength trainning while on the drug. To begin, ive had acne since the 8th grade. It began to get worse and worse. I started by taking benzol peroxide which did help but didnt solve my problem. I then went ahead and tried tretinoin. This helped but also didnt cure. Ant
