  1. I was like you as well, only I decided to wear makeup a few years earlier than you. I wish I hadn't decided to wear makeup, or at least not foundation, as my acne situation might not have been as it is today! How long did it take for your moisture levels to balance out within that month? My face seems to be getting quite oily (although it's also very hot, so it could be sweat in there too), and when I look in the mirror I'll sometimes see little hairs stuck to my face Do you only shower once
  2. If most of your diet consistes of fruits and vegetables, it is very important to make sure you are getting enough calories for you body type and activity level. Fruits and veggies are not calorie dense, so they will fill you up with less calories than other foods (meat, grains, etc.) Nuts on the other hand are very calorie dense but also full of fat, so don't eat too many of them (though make sure to get enough fat in your diet). I'm not sure if not eating enough would cause dry skin, but it's w
  3. Avocados, nuts, coconuts, cold pressed virgin oils I imagine? "Which raw diet are you going to follow? The high-fat diet, or the high-fruit diet? In my experience, trying to find middle-ground has been a frustrating endeavor. The reasons why are a little scientific. Let me explain: On a high-fat diet, insulin sensitivity is greatly reduced, meaning that simple sugars do not arrive to their destination (the cells) as rapidly. When a person on a high-fat diet eats a lot of fruit (sugar)
  4. Unless the packaging/advertising states otherwise, I would assume it does. Here's a brand I recently heard of that doesn't have residual hormones in it. www.jayrobb.com

  7. This is such an awesome thread! I'm glad to see people having success by not washing their faces. As for me, I never had acne through my pre-teen and early teenage years (I guess I was more of a tom boy), but when I got to be like 15 or 16 I started buying into traditional beauty ideals... I started wearing make-up, washing my face, and using moisturizer. I didn't break out suddenly, but since then my acne has gotten worse and worse. Dan's regimen cleared me up for a long time (also made my s
  8. Thanks for the replies! I didn't even know there were more until today (my e-mail notification thingy isn't working I guess.) Anyway, I've lightened up on my regimen. I only do BP in the evening, and that seems to have helped the dryness (though my skin still has a red tone that I can't stand). BUT since lightening up on the regimen I have more acne. My acne is mostly along my jaw and neck, all over my cheeks, on my forehead, and along my hairline. Haha, I guess that's basically everywhere. Exc
  9. Tigermike, I gave the site a look, and honestly, it just looks like another anti-vegetarian/raw vegan site, and is pretty heavily biased (not to say pro-vegetarian sites aren't biased as well!) I looked through the site a bit, but it's got quite a load of information on it, and I couldn't find the part where it proves veg*n diets don't save animal lives as you said. Maybe you could give me the cliff notes? I do agree with you that wheat, soy, and corn aren't foods humans should be eating. Any
  10. If you have not seen serious improvement in two weeks, I would suspect something else is going on. You could be allergic to one of the fruits or vegetables your consuming. When I stop eating the foods that caused my acne, new cysts stopped forming after just 3 days. Took longer for it all to heal and previously existing cysts to run their course. But I could tell no new ones were forming after 3 days. Of course I don't know for sure in your case. But if I was in your situation, I would
  11. I'm on a diet similar to what you call a vegetable fast. All I eat are raw fruits and vegetables (sometimes nuts for fat and protein). I had been off all sugar (other than fruit) for about two months prior to starting this, and have been eating only raw fruits and veggies for two weeks now. NONE of this has helped my acne yet. I expect it will eventually (because I am a strong believer holistic healing). But my point is, though you suggest to do this for two weeks, it may take longer than that
  12. I always eat just fruit for breakfast. Seems to work well for me In my honest opinion, one cannot eat too much fruit. Yes, it is sugary, but it's pure, natural sugar that your body knows what to do with. Plus fruit's full of nutrients and fiber!
  13. Tigermike, how does veganism not save the lives of animals? Naturally the animals I don't eat are still killed, but OTHER people buy them and consequently the rate of animals being killed for food decreases (even if just a slight amount). And as for the food pyramid... Well that thing is corrupt. Honestly, wheat/grains as the base? Common sense: fruit and vegetables are the healthiest, purest foods available. Wheat and grains have to be processed to be edible. Processed food = bad. (And of cour
  14. Tinted moisturizer is basically moisturizer with makeup in it. You can actully buy foundation and moisturizer separately and mix them together before you use them to make your own tinted moisturizer. This is kind of a nice option because you can get a color closer to your skin tone, and you can customize how opaque or translucent you want the tinted moisturizer depending on how your skin looks that day. And as for when to put on the primer, I think most suggest putting on moisturizer before pri
  15. Well hey, thanks for your replies. The way I eat doesn't seem to have any effect on my facial redness and dryness, but I've been able to cut my bp use down to once a day which has helped a lot (though my skin is still far from where I want it).
