  1. I use Cerave moisturizer. I have never been able to tolerate any other moisturizer without breakouts. This one is very light and gentle on my skin.
  2. Birth control can cause all of the things that you mentioned, BUT not in all people. You really should discuss these things with your doctor. They will know your history and can help you make an informed decision. Birth control pills should definitely help with hormonal acne.
  3. I feel your pain. I am a 28 year old femal and I have been suffering from acne since I was 12. I have been on every different kind of treatment there is except accutane over the last 16 years. I just started seeing a dermotologist again since my skin has gotten progressively worse over the last couple of years. She just put me on spironolactone which I had not heard of. It is a blood pressure med that they use at lower doses to treat the hormonal causes of acne in adult women. It takes about 3
  4. I had a very severe case of intestinal candida last year because of antibiotics. I saw an infectious diseases physician for it and was treated with antifungals and went on the candida diet because they were afraid it would become systemic. My acne did not change at all when I had the infection or when I was being treated for it.
  5. Thanks for the input. I am happy to hear that your skin is under control! My derm told me that Accutane really only works well for teenage boys. She is willing to prescribe it to me, but told me that adult women don't have good results with it. I had heard otherwise so I am feeling very confused and torn about what to do. I am tempted to request a blood test to have my hormone levels evaluated to see if it is purely hormonal or not. I just want to get my skin under control.
  6. I am a 28 year old woman with moderate to severe acne (mostly non-cystic ) on my face, neck, chest and back, which I have had for the last 16 years. I have tried all forms of treatment including any over the counter product you can name, 3 types of oral antibiotics, topical erythromycin, Retin-A, Differin, and birth control pills. Nothing has worked for more than a couple of months to control my acne. I am considering Accutane as my next step, because I am not keen on using spironolactone as it
