  1. Have had SEVERE acne, along with the severe depression and anxiety that can go with it. My family always acted as if it didnt exist, but when id be at a party or in public I could see people looking at me with disgust or pity in their eyes. Cant imagine anything worse for a young person trying to find their place in the world. Was also suicidal for many years...acne was so bad id cry every night, cursing god for cursing me. How I made it through is nothing less than a miracle. My advice after
  2. Wow, been a long time since i was here...hope old friends are doing better.
  3. Many of us have been there Baal, and made it out. You can also. And when you do, you will be 10x stronger than someone who hasnt been through it.
  4. Nothing wrong with that advice! It just pains me to see people give advice based on their own results, when everyone who takes it will not achieve good results, and some will have horrendous results. Even though, I have myself benefitted from taking this drug, I would not want my hands full of blood encouraging people to go on so damn easily. It must only be for severe cases, anyone who says differently is a fking moron.
  5. I didnt have just mild acne, Jack. If i felt i had to prove anything to you, i would show you just how bad my moderate acne was. I had mild (as in about 7 actives daily) acne in the in between times of major moderate acne flare ups. I knew the side effects, my derm had been wanting me to go on accutane for 2 yrs prior. I was afraid of it, until i was at my wits end. I was made aware of all the percentages and possiblities, none of my derms other patients had experienced anything like the few
  6. YW. Also...what so many people dont realize, is depression does not have to be logical!!! Some will look at you and say "what do you have to be depressed about??" It is not about logic!!! ANYONE CAN BECOME DEPRESSED!!! And some are so depressed they kill themselves! Ever hear about someone you know doing it and not even understand why? Or a celebrity that has it all, money, fame, all the girls they could ever want...take Kurt Cobain, WTF could he be depressed about right? I have periods whe
  7. I said it. And I stand by it. Great, it worked for you. But your risk did not equal your reward. Had you wound up with liver damage, or all your hair fell out(or even just spot balding) or you had some other debilitating effect of the drug, you would be here saying you regretted it. Having mild acne is certainly better than some of the very serious side effects this drug produces. I dont care how much of an ass you want to be about it, thats the fact Jack.
  8. WOW!!! Im shocked at these low costs....I thought it would be more than when I took it!! Incredible.
  9. Your acne was mild???? I just dont understand this. Did your dermatologist insist you go on accutane, or did you insist?? I feel terrible about your reaction to it, but I just cant see a competent dermatologist putting you on Accutane for mild acne, its malpractice and he should be removed from practicing immediately!! i wanted accutane, she really didn't think it was severe enough as well but i was getting so many bad side effects from antibiotics that she decided to give it a try, id b

  11. I am in the US, this is what my google comes up with http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=y...mp;aq=f&oq= You chide me because I have not been a member that long and state that you have been doing research for 10 months, how many of those months were spent in med school again? You do not just tell people about what happened to you, you try to make them believe that long term effects happen to everyone, which is simply not true. See the two people I mentioned above. There were no
  12. What is the going rate these days? Its been more than 10 yrs since I took mine, I think the cost back then was around $3000. for the 6 months of treatment. And the bloodwork was around $60. IIRC.
  13. My thoughts exactly. This guy is not doing you any favors, get another derm ASAP!!
  14. This is an obvious scam. Its not possible to clear your skin that fast. It takes months, as acne is deep into all your skin layers, not just the surface. Anything that seems too good to be true, is. Run away.
  15. I posted it because 1 out of 4 people who took accutane said it was their worst decision ever. And since you are a cementhead, and dont care, my replies are not directed to you, but to others who are on the fence about taking it. :wall:
  16. Your FIRST visit and hes already talking accutane????????? FIND ANOTHER DERMATOLOGIST! NOW!
  17. I agree, if its life or death for the person, its a no brainer...but realize that not every dermatologist will let you on this unless they feel its absolutely necessary. I bet they could get their balls in a sling for perscribing it to someone with mod. acne(not in the medications usage directions, ty AsiaXiah)and that person had serious or fatal reaction. I think you might be just a little too cavalier about it thats all. BTW...here are the poll results from this thread: Do you regret

  19. The dermatologist sat me down and went over the possible side effects. He was very reluctant to perscribe accutane, and only did it in the severest of cases. He had a large supply of the stuff from the mfg. in his office, and told me he would give me(I was broke at the time) the accutane for free, but I had to pay for all the blood work in the process. Being as suicidal as I was, none of the "possible side effects" meant shit to me, it was life or death, as I could not live in the shame and humi
  20. I had kind of the opposite experience....noone in my family seemed to acknowledge my acne at all!! My mom especially. I wish I could have communicated to them how dire my situation was to me, but I retreated into a shell....my personality just went away completely. I have some resentment to this day that I felt they should have gotten me the help I needed. But Kuhoolish, my experience with 'friends' and acquaintances was much like yours. People would look at you long enough to notice your

  22. Its not about taking chances. Its about risk vs. reward. Mild to mod acne does not meet the risk IMO. Accutane is a serious drug, with serious side effects, for lets say 10% of users. Its fatal to some, with lessening degrees of medical issues on down to losing your hair. If you are at wits end, and suicidal (like I was) then the risk is justified. If you want to take the easy road to clear skin and thinking that accutane will be a magic pill, then you are unduly irresponsible to yourself. T
  23. Its not? You just said it is? Its all the evidence I need. I honestly don't care if it works for the 'study group' if it works for me Im a happy guy.
