  1. Hi everyone, i would really appreciate anything you know about this pill / if youve taken it what was your experience? some background about me: i started taking 100mg of spironolactone in the beginning of august. by mid-september i was 90% clear and SOO happy for the first time in 5 years or so. (but the spironolactone made my periods come every two weeks and so my doctor prescribed me yasmin along with it). I went on yasmin in october and broke out in the WORSTT cystic acne i have everrr had

  3. Hi.. so i have been taking spiro since august and the pills were made by the lab Actavis. A week and a half ago, i go to pick up my pills and while they are spironolactone, they are different - larger with different writing, and made by the lab Qualitest. And these past couple days i have been breaking out more than usual... Has this happened to anyone else? Could the switch be a reason for my breakout? or is it all in my head lol?
  4. Pleaseee.. anybody who is currently using both yasmin/ocella and spironolactone??.. i really need advice on this!!
  5. Hi, i am on Yasmin (well actually Ocella, the generic version) and i take 100 mgs of spironolactone.. so during the 3 active weeks on ocella, it means im on 125 mg of spiro. SPIRO USERS- on the inactive weeks - should i still continue taking 100 mg of spironolactone or should i increase to 125 mg since the inactive week means no spiro in the ocella?

  8. ok i think i have the same plan of action in mind.. be on spiro for about 6 months and then switch to accutane. did you have to wean off the spiro? or you just stopped cold as soon as you started accutane?
  9. Hi Sophiena.. i just went on spiro 100 mg a couple of months ago (i chose it over accutane) and my acne has really improved. i was wondering how long you were on spiro and why you chose to go off it to accutane? did it not help you?? I'm scared that im going to have to be on spiro for the rest of my life.. because there was one week in which i was completely lazy and never took my pills and my acne came back full force..
  10. Im not overweight (i weigh around 115). My periods are regular BUT they are 7 weeks apart (which is a sign that your DHEAS levels are high). Having the symptoms you mentioned could mean that you have a high level of testosterone but there are other hormones that are responsible for acne such as DHEAS that does not cause overweight-ness (lol not a word)
  11. so i started 100 mg of spiro on saturday along with 100 mg of minocycline and its 5 days later and im breaking out... This could be a coincidence and not due to the spiro but i really think its the sprio causing it (despite the minocycline). This is really depressing and i cannotttt deal with my skin getting worse right now
  12. Hi pink. Do you mind telling what kind of acne you had? That is, was it mainly on your cheeks and jaws etc.? Also was it cysts, pimples, mild/moderate/severe? Did you have any other symptoms of high androgen like facial hair etc? Also do you have acne since puberty or is it like adult onset acne?
  13. Hi Melody.. no it was not expensive- with insurance it came out to be only about $10 for me. I took a blood test to test different hormones. There were 8 hormones that the derm. ordered and i definitely remember testosterone, LH, FSH, DHEAS, prolactin, and i cant remember the other 3. Tell your doctor about these.. i'm sure he will know what they are
  14. i have been battling acne for four years and in those four years have tried EVERY possible over-the-counter medicines, home treatments, topical ointments, antibiotics, etc. and my dermatologists have never ordered blood tests to be done to find the underlying cause of my acne. I went to a new derm. last week who sent me to get a blood test on my hormones- testosterone, LH, FSH, DHEAS, prolactin, and a couple more that i cannot remember. It turns out that my DHEAS(androgen) level was DOUBLE the
