  1. After reviewing the many scar treatment options, I feel Fraxel is my best option. I have some minor/moderate rolling scars and I hear Fraxel can be quite effective for this type of scarring. I did go to an consultation back in August but upon examening further issues, I have a few worries that weren't present when I went to the consulation.. I am thinking about calling to make an appointment but I wanted to gain some feedback from the quality members of this board. I have a few questions to th
  2. I have my 1st Fraxel Laser Scheduled this upcoming week. I am 21 yr old male and I havent had significant active acne for about 5 yrs now. I do have some concerns although I have heard Fraxel 2 is the best possible treatment of rolling scars, which I have. In addition, its been noted Fraxel's significant lower downtime when comparing Co2 lasers. I do have a few questions. Sensible responses would be greatly appreciated. 1) Im worried about the downtime/ healing regime. I plan on going to vac
  3. Hi, I have traditionally used Neutrogena or Aveeno for the acne on my face. However, where I reside, the winter months are extremely cold and these acne medicated soaps cause my skin to become dry since I have sensitive skin. As a result, I have been looking at other alternatives that will cause less dryness yet not cause me to breakout. I like using something out a container/ bottle for my face like neutrogena/aveeno products come in rather than bar soaps such as Dove. As such, I went to sto
  4. I have suffered moderate/severe acne from the ages of 13-16 but now im 20 and only get the occasional pimples on my temple areas. I have not any signficant breakouts in about 4 years which includes my face. Although it has left some scarring on my cheeks and chin area, this has bothered me so much in recent years. The scars are by no means deep like ice picket marks, infact most of the scarring is somewhat light although it has left red marks, which bothers me even more. I have heard that red
  5. The article explained that a male gets its level of androgens from the mother (testosterone, DHT...and so on) and they say the level of androgens causes the sebum/oil, which then causes acne, so i dont know. Has anyone ever heard that a male inherits it androgens levels from the mother VS. father?
  6. I wanted to ask this question because i read an article that suggested a male has a greater chance of suffering acne if the mother had it Vs. father and my case that does prove true. My mother had bad acne and my dad never had it, but i do , so i dont know???
  7. Im 20 years old and get some minor acne on my forehead area but i dont need any sort of surgery there because there really is no marks/or scars. My main problem is my cheeks, i dont have at all severe or even moderate scarring. I would say minor scarring- no deep identations or holes just slight uneveness throughout. I havent had considerable active acne on my face for a good 3 years, i get the pimple here and there once a while but nothing severe at all. My chin area has some more pronounced s
  8. I figured they dont cover scar treatments. As many on these boards, i have had some mental problems and all arrised when i started suffering acne. I just figured maybe if you could convince insurance comp. that the acne scars are effecting your mental well being maybe they would consider... I would think the first step in having any chance at recovering some sort of insurance coverage is to see a certified MD ( psychologist). If you have at least a professional backing you up, the the case look
  9. Blue Cross/Blue Shield HMO EAST, does any body know if this insurance company cover this?
  10. Now im completely unknowledgeable in this area but for starters under certain circumstances insurance does not cover acne scar removal via plastic surgery( laser treatment), right??? But one important question to ask since it seems that there are many members of these boards who have suffered mental disorders(depression, generalized anxiety, obsessive complusive disorder) and claim it all started when acne started, if you go to a psychologist for mental problems and you and your doctor definit
  11. I have read many articles on net on what causes androgenic alopecia( male pattern baldness) and acne and both mention high levels of increased free testosterone and high activity of the 5 alpha reductuse, an enzyme that converts testosterone to DHT, a powerful androgen responsible for the minimization of the hair follicles and the creation of the excess oil ( sebum) oil and thus the acne? A Few questions... 1) They are people that have dry skin yet still suffer the acne, this defeats this agru

  13. cause acne. I asked my derm this question I said to him " if you dont wash your face or any other part of the body that has acne present, does it worsen the active acne that you already have" and i also asked "if you dont have any active acne in one area but have had some in that area in the past, will it cause acne that wouldnt be there otherwise", he told me NO, it is all controlled by hormones/ Well, i reconize some days when i am busy and have things to do or i am just lazy and dont wash
  14. I was wondering if anybody on the boards have asked if if crying causes acne on acne prone skin, not the actual process of crying but the teary substance that runs down your cheek... I ask because when i get bad colds and allergies, i get very teary eyed and tears will run down my face, a few days later like 2 or 3 it seems i break out more than usual, is there any correlation?? Also, when i have a stuffy or runny nose and that gewy stuff drips out of your nose, when that snot drips on my c
  15. I hear you parker, that's why i avoid any type of hair products, it just makes me paronoid , so i completely exclude any chances of my scalp getting worse by avoiding all products. But its gets annoying some times, with no hair moose or gel, the wind fu*kks your hair all up but i will sacrifice this for the acne on my scalp not worsening
