  1. That's good to know! I've moved up to Differin, so hopefully that will help.
  2. I love makeup and think it's fun, but I'm not a "won't leave the house without it" person. I prefer to have it on, but sometimes I'm in a hurry and just don't wear any. When I was younger (high school), I stopped wearing it for a long time because I thought it just made my skin look worse, and I also thought I looked too horrible and that there was no point in even bothering to try to look better. I started wearing it more again in my early 20s, and now I definitely wear it nearly almost every t
  3. hey you say you have mostly boxcar scars.. I think I have the same.. check my thread I made.. it has pics.. I'm too trying to figure out what to do for the best, I'm only 16..but I think I can wait another few years before I get any type of laser treatment done http://www.acne.org/messageboard/index.php...p;#entry2351524 Yeah, yours look pretty similar to mine. They're wider and shallow rather than small and deep. Waiting a while seems like a decent idea at 16, though. I'm 27, and I feel
  4. I'm not familiar with the "Acne Free in 3 Days" book, but my cleanser is glycerin based and I really like it (Aquanil); I use BHA from Paula's Choice and it works really well, and my favorite sunscreen is Shiseido spf 55 cream, though the Neutrogena Dry Touch ones are decent, too.
  5. Thanks, I do mostly have more boxcar type scarring, I think, rather than ice-picks. How is the healing process from subcision? Is there much down time? I probably only have 3-5 scars I would find worth it to have treated, so something localized would make a lot of sense.
  6. Well, I'm still not sure if some of it may be scarring, but in the last 24 hours or so, some of it has become a bit more inflamed and is now dry and peely... Since I've started the Diacneal, this has happened in a couple spots that were very closed, under the skin type bumps, and after the peeling subsided, it left smooth skin underneath. So I'm hoping this is the retinoid at work. I'll see if there's a change in the next few days.
  7. Thanks, this is what I was worried about... Plus with a child in the house, I really don't like the idea of having 100% acid around no matter how securely I try to store it, so I would end up getting it professionally done, which would probably cost as much as some other treatments. Fraxel seems unappealing to me based on the extremely mixed reviews I've heard. Is it difficult to find docs who do smoothbeam, or is it pretty widely available?
  8. These kind of pictures are definitely refreshing A friend and I were flipping through some stupid celeb magazine while we were waiting to buy Wiis super early in the morning, and there was a whole "celebs without makeup!" article. The pics themselves were refreshing, but what annoyed me was the fact that they were presented with this "look how hideous the are! They should never let anyone see them this way!" tone, rather than a "isn't it reassuring to see they look just like the rest of us?" at
  9. There's no need to be argumentative about it Different things work for different people... I believe that a ton of people have good results from CeraVe, I was just sharing my personal experience. The more recommendations someone receives, the more products they'll be able to try, and the better chance they'll have of finding the product that works for them. I've tried a ton of moisturizers based on reviews, and it took me forever to find the one that works for me, but it would have taken even l
  10. The older I get, the better able I am to not let it impact my overall mental state. In high school, I suffered from panic attacks mainly because I hated going to school and even having people see me. For years, I didn't even bother wearing makeup or caring about my appearance in any way because I thought my skin was so bad, there was no point in even making an effort. It's nothing that extreme anymore. But, I definitely am completely unable to think of myself as remotely attractive. I think of m
  11. Not a Paula B. quote, I don't take her very seriously (though I love her BHA!), just what I've found to be true in 15 years of dealing with acne. Throughout high school and my early 20s, I constantly tried to use medicated cleansers, whatever new product at the drugstore that claimed to be for acne, thinking harsh was better. My skin would get irritated and dry, I would get frustrated and stop using whatever I was using, and my acne would never improve. As an adult, doing more research, I realiz
  12. My favorite is Neutrogena's Fresh Oil-Free. Not the regular old oil-free Neutrogena, but a new one in a blue tube. It's light and soaks in well and feels matte and not greasy. I had a horrible time finding a moisturizer that didn't break me out; Complex 15 and CeraVe both clog me and I hate the feel of CeraVe. Some find it to soak in well, but it stays tacky and sits on top of my skin.
  13. The Neutrogena Dry Touch spf 30 isn't photostable. I'm comfortable with it for days I'm mostly indoors, but typically if I'll be in the sun for longer periods, I use the Dry Touch spf 55, which is stable. I clog really easily from products, and neither has broken me out. As for feel on the skin, I prefer the 30, I don't love how it feels when I'm applying it, but it does dry to a nice light, matte finish. For the past week, though, I've been using Shiseido spf 55 cream. It's pricey, but I LOVE
  14. I have a handful of indented scars, fairly shallow. I'm hesitant to do anything too invasive/expensive, because it's fairly mild scarring overall, but it still bothers me and I'd like to do something about it. I've considered TCA cross at home, but worried that it would be difficult to contain the acid in the scars if they aren't terribly deep. Any thoughts or advice?
  15. Well, I think I'm digging this Diacneal Starting week 4, overall really happy. I'm getting ready to start my period any day, and NO big cysts or anything, which is really unheard of for me. Sorry for crappy webcam quality, but this pic is current with no makeup on: (the one red bump on my forehead is actually a mosquito bite...LOL) This was about a month ago (sorry for my horrible hair ): This is a horrible quality pic, but is from about 6 months ago and was pretty typical of my skin befor
