  1. thanks so much for such a kind post :) to answer your questions... -i have had chemical peels as well as microdermabrasion in the past and sadly i really don't think either of them did a thing for my acne. for me anyway it was a waste of (A LOT) money. -yes you can be on the nuva ring while on accutane. you have to be on a form of birth control while on accutane. i'm still currently on the nuva ring and i don't think it effects my skin in any way. not sure if it will help your PCOS but i hope i
  2. hey all : ) just wanted to drop in to give an update! it's been a little over a year since i've been off accutane. since then i've had a couple minor breakouts but also a few random cysts that i needed to get injected. i'm getting married on sept.18 (28ish days!!!!) and i know this might sound self centered and stupid but as the day gets closer i find myself thinking about my skin nonstop. i keep wondering what i will do if i do break out and amping myself up about it for no reason. it's like,
  3. i'm a HUGE advocate of cortisone shots! so i just had to reply to this. over the years i've probably gotten a couple dozen. i became to rely on them actually because they gave me such great results. i'm not really sure what you mean by 'indent'... i don't think this happens very often, and from my understanding it only happens if your derma injects too much cortisone (along with other reasons maybe i guess) but if you have a good derma hopefully you won't have this problem. i NEVER got an inden
  4. just wanted to give a quick update on how it's going with the Tretinoin cream. my skin is over the awful awfulll break out i was having when i first started using it, and it stopped peeling as well. now my skin looks exactly like it did while i was on accutane. it's clear, it's smooth, no bumps. but no dry skin anymore either- yay! i'm crossing my fingers for this. i'll post a picture. oh i've also been taking zinc and niacin for a few months now which i think is having a positive effect. i wash
  5. thanks c'est : ) i can always count on you to be amazing

  6. just wanted to give an update.. i've been using the Tretinoin cream .025% for about a week and a half now and my skin is breaking out like crazy. i'm not getting pimples or cysts that are coming to a head, but instead i'm getting these weird red blotchy bumps alllll over my cheeks that aren't going away. i'll post a picture sometime. my skin is also peeling pretty bad. i'm trying to not get all depressed and crazy like i used to be, and i'm trying to deal with it the best i can. when i find myse
  7. hi amanda. yes, he was the only derm in that particular office (it's like in the basement of a family practice). he said they were not going to fill his spot. no, he did not offer to start me in the ipledge system/tell me to take a preg.test or start me off with a prescription. he did not see the point in this because he wouldn't be able to be there to follow up with the whole process, which i can understand. he gave me the name of a different dermatologist, one of the only ones in maine who ac
  8. besides it making you red, did you have any other negative experience with retin-a? did it help you at all?
  9. hey guys! just thought i'd update you about the derma appointment i FINALLY just had today. first of all, let me just note that it took me almost 3 months to actually GET an appointment because there are NO dermatologists around my area, not to mention one that accepts insurance. so, i show up, and i explain my situation. he tells me that he would consider putting me back on accutane, if not right now, but a couple months before my wedding. problem is, he goes on to tell me, he's leaving the pra

best make up i have ever used. i will not put ANYTHING on my face except for this. gives me great coverage, whether i'm looking for full coverage or light coverage. i used this when my acne was at its worst and it still covered it up completely. now i just use it to cover up spots, scars, and dark under eye circles. it has never broken me out. it's very soft and natural looking. could get pricey if you go through foundation fast or use it all the time. i tell everyone about bare minerals and rec

dramatically reduced oil, less acne i still got an occasional cyst around that time of the month it's worth a try.
  12. my old derma told me once that she didn't give out spiro to men because it can have weird affects on their bodies...like it's used for males going through a sex change to help grow breasts or something
  13. agreed!! i have used baking soda a handful of times for my skin to exfoliate but i don't think it helped at all but it didn't make it worse either. but i wasn't consistent with it so who knows. i don't use it anymore cause i don't think it did anything. i use a baby brush now which works good.
  14. nope, no change in diet or products. i hope it's just temporary!
  15. I hear a lot about bare minerals, is all you use is the powder and brush? Also is it good for acne as in covering it and not making it worse? i LOVE bare minerals. it's the only face makeup i've ever used and ever will use. it has never made my acne worse and its great at covering it up. right now i use bare minerals bisque for covering up individual spots and scars, but i used to use the loose powder in medium for all over coverage, as well as the faux tan and mineral veil. Awesome

  17. same with me. probably not the best advice, but i've never used sunscreen in my life, and during my accutane course i went outside as i normally would (i LOVEEE summertime & the sun) and never burned. i also went tanning occasionally with no problems. it's better to be safe than sorry i guess, but do what feels comfortable to you. you know your skin by now and you know when you're burning and how much sun you can handle.
  18. hey guys! welllll..i thought i'd give a little update about where i'm at right now. i ended my course in april, and i was 100% clear until sorta recently. about a month and a half ago, i started to feel a cyst forming underneath my skin on my chin area. i obviously immediately panicked, because it was such an awful, familiar feeling. it got bigger and bigger and i made an appointment with my old derma- who i haven't seen since my course ended. i traveled an hour home and paid 200$ for her to inj

cleared my skin within the first week. the only thing that has ever worked for me. chance of risky side effects, monthly bloodwork, ipledge -its a big commitment! if you want to be clear indefinitely and make a huge life change, accutane is the way to go
  20. i have thick, stick-straight hair and i wash it once every few days. it NEVER gets oily. i honestly believe i could go a month without washing it and it still wouldn't get greasy. but i do have to use some sort of conditioner in it every day because once it hits water it tangles easy.
  21. i was in 5th grade and i woke up with spots all over my face. it literally was like it happened overnight. i put my sister's clearasil or something on my face and really thought they would disappear in a couple hours. ha! and the sad part is that it was on the morning of a big school trip to boston. oh those were the days...
