  1. mmh I dont know but if I put some Crisco on my face, I'm sure I wont have to wait a full month for the pimples to apear... more like the next day hehe good point
  2. Y'all have helped me see sense, it probably wasn't just the olive oil. It was just so out of the blue that I immediately jumped to that conclusion The breakouts do seem to be winding down (knock on wood) so I'm going to hope it's just one of those mysterious skin freak-outs and will never resurface! PS Wynne: I did some research and I definitely plan on trying your Aleve idea. Thanks!
  3. yeah, i'm on pretty much the same stuff that gave me good skin before, plus some additional spot treatment. i don't think i can do much more without drying my skin out etc., so i'm just wondering how long i'm going to keep breaking out like this it's not really skin coloured bumps, just regular pimples. thanks for the reply!
  4. In short: I used a pore clogging product about two months ago, started breaking out one month ago, and am still not back to normal. Do y'all think it will end soon? The long version: I've used olive oil in the past with mixed results - I liked it but suspected it was clogging my pores. (I'm pretty sure the olive oil is the culprit in this story, but that's really besides the point - it was either the olive oil or a new primer I got, and I quit both.) I tried it again, about two months ago. I s
  5. Yeah, all in one night. I know it sounds like a lot but if I'm sure to be gentle with the exfoliation it doesn't irritate my face at all. I don't have a set number of nights per week, but usually just one or two (as it's kind of time intensive).
  6. I've been doing a mask routine like this for a while, but tonight for some reason it worked really well - that is, after I finished, I was amazed at how much more even and clear my skin looked. So I thought I'd post it here, so maybe y'all can get some ideas... 1. Aspirin Mask Dissolve 5-10 uncoated aspirins in apple cider vinegar. Add 1/2 to 1 tsp of cinnamon. Add several blobs of honey and mix, then slather on and leave it on for 10-20 minutes. Rinse off without scrubbing - just
  7. The skin isn't actually broken, is it? It's just red dots underneath the skin? This used to happen to me a lot because I squeezed pimples with way too much force, and ended up just pinching the skin real bad... I suspect that booacne is right and they are broken blood vessels or something of the sort. Unfortunately, I never found a way to make these things disappear overnight. Sorry I don't have a remedy for you But they did usually go away on their own within a week.
  8. Thanks for the replies. Things have been going well and it's probably because I haven't been stressing as much about an IB, since y'all gave me hope! stopthemaddness - I hadn't thought of easing into it that way. I think I'll try it, since I've been experiencing some dryness.
  9. Tretinoin is a generic name - it's the active ingredient in Retin A Micro. Tazorac has a different active ingredient; that may be why you had that breakout switching to Retin A. My situation is pretty different, though, since I'm not switching ingredients. I'm just increasing the dosage strength because it hasn't been working as well as I'd like =P I hope you're right that I won't get an IB! I'll find out soon!
  10. I've been using tretinoin for over a year. About two weeks ago I switched from .05% cream to .1% cream. Do you think that I should expect some sort of an initial breakout resulting from the new, more intense concentration? I've switched before (with no noticeable IB, I think...), but going from .05% to the highest available strength seems like a bigger deal than going from .01 to .025%! Thanks for any thoughts
  11. Does anyone know the concentration of glycolic acid in Mario Badescu's Glycolic Foaming Cleanser? I'm asking because I currently use this product* but am considering purchasing another glycolic product, Aqua Glycolic, and I want to get an idea of how much more potent Aqua Glycolic might be. (Aqua Glycolic has a concentration of 12%, I believe. I'm sure the Mario Badescu cleanser has much less of the acid, considering how far down on the ingredients list it is, but it would be nice to know the a
  12. Hey, thanks for the reply fletch. I know, he did go really heavy on them - but my mom actually ended up convincing me to try the topicals first before filling the prescription for the doxycycline, so as yet I haven't taken that particular antibiotic... I'll take your advice about not stopping and starting from now on! Just have to ignore the slowness of results... I'm already pretty good about not mixing the meds with OTC products, but thanks for the advice.
  13. Definitely try out some of those homemade masks; I've found that just smearing on egg whites for half an hour is very effective for overall skin tone improvement. My suggestion: green tea. I've found that it's really good for overall redness in addition to red marks and stuff... (I usually use the ground-up leaves from inside the teabag.) Oh, and the Queen Helene Mint Julep mask is only like $3.50 for a big tube - so unless you have really sensitive skin or something, you probably wouldn't be r
  14. Hey y'all, thanks for the replies. I'm glad that you're done with the IB Bridgette! Lord, 4 or 5 months?! Crap! Thanks for the warning, I think maybe my expectations were a bit too high! About three weeks into it my skin was pretty great on the Ziana/Benzaclin, like only a couple zits...but I stopped the prescriptions because I thought they were irritating my skin (don't know if they really were or if I was just imagining it! ) About a week ago I restarted the Ziana, and bam! I think that was
  15. Hey everybody…I’m new to this forum, but I just got back from my first visit to a dermatologist and was wondering if anybody had any comments on my new regimen (suggestions would be very appreciated – I’m totally new to the world of acne medication! ) Here’s what the doc prescribed for me: Adoxa (doxycycline 150mg)Benzaclin (5% BP + 1% clindamycin)Ziana (clindamycin phosphate 1.2% + tretinoin .025%) As far as I understand, I am to take an Adoxa pill once a day on a full stomach; us
