  1. So its been forever since I posted last. I'm now on month three of my accutane road. I moved home for the summer and subsequently changed derms (home is in a different state from college)...what a pain that was! iPledge does not make the process very easy. My 'new' derm (aka the one I've seen since I was 11 years old) bumped me up to 60 mg/day of tane. I was pretty freaked my skin was going to wig out but it's still clear and besides a bit more dryness in the lip area no difference whatsoever.
  2. Hey there! Had a quick look through your blog and at your pics and you skin is looking really amazing! Its given me alot more confidence in my meds, just hope it improves as much as yours! xx

  3. Derm and pharm have to be signed up with ipledge. Blood work lab does not. It just has to be sent to your derms so she can check it out before re-filling your script.
  4. I have to do both. They check my blood work at the monthly draw and also have to pee in a cup every time I go in to the derms office to get my new script for the month.
  5. Is there anyway to switch derms...yours sounds HORRIBLE. I love her logic : 'You aren't sure about the product but I refuse to give you any information on it until you blindly submit to my decision' and why couldn't you start accutane in the summer? You would probably experience less drying in summer then winter due to increased moisture in the air. I'm on my second month of accutane now and won't be done until Oct...so on it all summer, including a backpacking trip to Europe and carribbean
  6. I'm on Lexapro and Accutane currently. Been on Lexapro for about a year for severe anxiety. I asked both my dr's about it and they both said it's no problem and maybe even a good thing since Lexapro has anti-depressant effects.
  7. Aquaphor is the best on the market. It heals the lips while moisturizing. I don't leave the house without it (and have tiny panic attacks if I realize I left it behind by accident). You will still have to reapply several times a day. Sry. But that is life on accutane ;)
  8. 1. what are the usually side affects during the first month of starting? Dry skin Drrrrryyyyy Lips Sone jt pain...mine is mostly in my ankles and it hurt to excercise for about 2 weeks. Drinking LOTS and LOTS of water really helps with this (and with skin trouble in general) keep a Nalgene with you at all times. I used to be a huge soda drinker and now that I've completely cut out all diet coke (it was really painful) and drink only water I've noticed a huge difference. 2. what moisturizer do
  9. I have the same salicylic acid lotion that didn't do alot for me in the past so I switched to the regime listed in the first post (the only thing that ever truly cleared my arms and legs up). I was considering trying it again with the tane but I'm concerned it will literally cause a burn from the acid but maybe since it's not on my face it will be ok. I think I'll give it a shot on a 'test spot' for a few days and report back on what happens.
  10. I'm on my second month of accutane currently and seeing fantastic results obviously my skin is quite dry, though. I also suffer from keratosis pilaris and prior to starting accutane I managed it with a sugar scrub in the shower/omega 3,6,9 fatty acids/linseeds and a moisturizer containing urea. It actually cleared it up nicely however I stopped using the scrub and urea moisturizer when I started tane for fear of irritation which I now think was a mistake (continued with the omega 3,6,9 and lin
  11. Day 34 My derm appointment is tomorrow. I can't believe I'm one whole month through the treatment! I was starting to run low on tane so I've been rationing it over the last few days (1 40mg pill every other day instead of every day) until I get my script refilled. It's been a while since I posted so a short update: Basically my skin got incredibly clear around Day 22 and was looking fantastic. When I bumped down to 40 mg everyother day I started to notice a couple little red spots emerging so
  12. ummmm....you HAVE to be on birth control while on accutane (or at least utilize 2 forms of birth control)....Did you not get your meds through a doc? They stress it like crazy. Horrible birth defects result if you get pregnant while on tane...it's why the whole iPledge system was set up.
  13. Good luck on your course of accutane! I'm on day 20 now and so far it's really not so bad. I wouldn't recommend exfoliating while on tane. Your skin is super fragile and it can cause some major damage. I'm having trouble staying away from the exfoliating scrubs myself but I'm scared of the consequences haha.
  14. Day 20! Two whole packs done and 1/9 of the way through the course. WOW! My skin was looking pretty nice yesterday but woke up this morning with a new spot or two. Not horrible but not great, could be hormonally based. I've stopped caring to be perfectly honest, I figure every pimple is one spot closer to being done with accutane for good haha. Dryness level about the same. I tried the cetaphil cream and it made me look so greasy, yuck. So I'm sticking with the ceraVe cleanser and moisturi
