  1. Yes, you can get a flu shot. I asked my derm the last time I went in, and I am scheduled to get a flu shot tomorrow morning.
  2. My dose was just increased to 80mg (40mg 2x /day). This is starting my 2nd month, my first month I was only on 40mg once a day. I'm only about 120 pounds -- does 80mg seem too high too fast?? Maybe my doctor just did that since I was responding so well so I won't have to be on for so long?
  3. That is weird. My derm told me to make sure I use plenty of moisturizer, which I am. I'm only on day 6 so I'm not really too dry yet, but I can feel my lips are "trying" to get dry, but I keep chapstick/carmex/Burt's Bee's on at ALL TIMES. I wash my face in the morning when I get up and at night before I go to bed and I put moisturizer on each time I wash.
  4. I heard somewhere that even though your skin can be extremely dry, it can still be extremely oily at the same time. Your skin may be producing extra oil to make up for the dryness, at least until the accutane starts to slow down your oil production. I still have a couple weeks before I start accutane, but I have had this same problem with other treatments. My skin was so dry, flakey, and cracked that it hurt to move my face, but at the same time I had this ridiculous oil slick on top of it al
  5. I know, this sucks. I've been dealing with this for 18 years now and enough is enough. I just hope that now that I can finally do this it actually works and I'm not one of those people that it doesn't really work for. There's really not much I can do after this, so my fingers are crossed, but it's really hard to not get my hopes up. Good luck to you, too!
  6. I haven't paid anything yet. When I get my prescription filled I will have to pay $32 for that, insurance will cover the rest. Hope this answers your question.
  7. I got ok'd for Accutane today!!!! I did bood work today and I have to go back in 30 days. I still have to wait a while to get started, but I'm so excited now! FINALLY!!!!!
  8. I'm in the same boat as you. I go to a new derm in 9 days. I have had acne for 18 years and have been on tons of prescriptions. My acne varies from mild to horrific, fluctuating all the time. I wouldn't say that I have cystic acne, but I do get at least 1 underground demon about twice a month, the rest of my "regular" acne is still all over my face...and my back..and my chest I keep going over in my head everything I want to say, just short of getting on my knees and begging him for Ac
  9. How long do woman typically have to wait from the time they first visit their derm to the time they can actually start taking Accutane? I know there is iPledge, and if you are not already on the pill you have to start taking it and be able to have a negative pregnancy test. I have been on the pill for 12 years so I'm hoping my waiting time will be a little less. Can anyone offer any information to help me understand better? I go to the derm on 3/31 & I'm really anxious and just trying to
  10. I am so glad that I read this. I just called the derm that I am going to in a couple weeks and I just found out that he does not prescribe Accutane "anymore." Guess I'm not going there now.
  11. I'm going to the dermatologist in 10 days. I have been on so many prescriptions that I do not even want to deal with it anymore. What I really want to do is go in and say, "GIVE ME ACCUTANE ALREADY!!!" I'm going to a new derm because my old one relocated out of state. I will obviously fill him in on my 18 year history with acne (I'm 30 years old) and all the meds I've tried. I've learned a lot about Accutane, the good, the bad, and the brutality of it -- but I think it would be totally wort
