  1. I don't have acnee, I have really oily skin and scalp. ( I mean really oily scalp ) I've been on Spiro for 3 weeks now ( 25 mg the first 2 weeks and 50 mg for the past 8 days...so far, no results...and I've been spotting all the time.) Cannot take birth control pills because of too many cancer risks ( familly history of breast cancer )
  2. I'm wondering if you guys are planning to stay on Spironolactone for many many years? I've heard that the acnee, oil production etc come back as soon as you stop taking it so I guess we'll have to stay on this medication for the rest of our lives? Don't you think it's scary? I mean...in 10-15 years from now, will we have kidney failure? Renal problems? ect? Please, tell me what you think...
  3. I've been on 25mg once a day for the past 2 weeks with no side effects at all. I've increased the dose to 50mg once a day this morning. My generalist was scared to put me on Spiro because of my low blood pressure. For the moment, it has not changed. I hope I'll see results with a low dose because I don't have acnee at all...just oily skin, really oily scalp and hairloss. I just can't stand all this oil anymore.
  4. Thanks for your answer. I did used the search option to find an answer but I did not find anything about it...english is not my first language so it's difficult for me to understand everything that is written.I'm sorry. Bravo on your English. It seems to be better than most who speak it as their first language. But this is not the point of the message boards, haha. I have been taking spiro 50 mg/day for about four months and just recently got it increased to 100 mg/day. I have not ha

  6. Have you changed your diet since you are on Spiro? My generalist told me I should not change anything since I'm young and healthy but she said ''just make sure you don't eat too much food that is rich in potassium'' I'm wondering if those of you who have been on spiro for a few months of even a few years have changed their diet? I don't like the idea of eating less fruits/vedgetables etc.
  7. Thank you so much for your answer mizzbuddy ! I'm scared to death to take my first pill but I'll give it a try...I have to! I'm also scared of the potassium thing...I don't know if I should change anything in my diet. My generalist told me to avoid eating too much bananas and potatoes and that's all....but there's potassium in almost everything we eat!
  8. Hi there, My blood pressure is quite low ( 100/60 ) and today, my generalist gave me a script for 50mg spiro to give it a try...but she told me that it could make my blood pressure go lower and that I might feel really bad and even faint!!! Is there anybody here who has tried spiro with an already ''low'' blood pressure??? Sorry for my bad english...
  9. I'd like to know if your eyes are feeling dry and if you have problems wearing your contact lenses since you are taking Spiro?
  10. Well, in june 2006, an endocrinologist did gave me a prescription for 100mg spiro + yasmin BCP because of my oily scalp and also because I was having hairloss... He said my hormones were quite normal but he thought I was very sensible to male hormones. ( hey, sorry for my bab english!!! :ninja: I'm french!!!) In the same week, I found a lump in my breast so I decided not to take any medication before I had a biopsy because I was afraid it was cancer ( 2 of my cousins have breast cancer so..
  11. Hi, I'm new here! I'm a 33 years old woman and I have an extremely oily scalp and an oily skin in general. My problem is I can't find anything that can reduce the oiliness of my scalp and face. ( I wash my hair in the morning and it gets oily at the end of the after noon...and the next morning, it looks wet, it smells bad and I can't go out if I don't wash it agai
