  1. DAY 68: My posts are very rare because there isn't anything to report. Progress is improving daily, and side affects are very minimal. I can say that I have NO ACNE and it's been that way for more than a month now. Not even one spot. My scars are beginning to fade and my face has a perfect non-oily appearance. The only thing I've noticed now is very large scars and marks left over from old acne. I never noticed them before because they were mixed in with my acne. Maybe a few (3 months+) afte
  2. DAY 32: Well it's definitely been awhile. After 2-3 weeks of not seeing any results (or sides) at 40mg/every other day. I bumped it up to 40mg everyday. So far I've noticed much dryer skin, oil production has gone way down, and my joints crack and need a bit of extra care. I picked up Glucosamine, Chondroitin, and MSM for that and it's been working fantastic along with the Fish Oil. I'm using Eucerin Dry Skin for body moisturization with great results. Scalp is very itchy at times a
  3. DAY 10: - Experiencing mild dry lips and dry hair. Regular chapstick is enough to handle it at this point. I've taken to washing my hair less often (maybe every 3-4 days instead of every other day) and I've always used cold water and conditioner. - I'm going through an pretty mild initial breakout, and have started to spot treat the major areas with small amounts of Dan's Benzoyl Peroxide. - My skin is becoming much more sensitive to the sun. Yesterday, I had a long 1hr drive and my le
  4. DAY 6: Took my 3rd 40mg dose yesterday. Since it's almost been a week I should make a quick report on what I've noticed. - Gym performance is the same (if not better) - I've had no tightness/joint pain whatsoever. - I've noticed my face produce SLIGHTLY less oil (so slight that it could even be a placebo). I normally take cold showers anyway which will be a good habit to prevent some dryness. - I've gotten 1-3 small deep spots on my face in typical areas, but I assume this is because I'
  5. DAY 2: Went to the gym today for a heavy squat session. Strength (as expected) haven't decreased at all as it's only my 2nd day on. I'll be taking my 2nd 40mg tomorrow. No changes to report although I'm enjoying the fact that I don't need any special creams in the AM/PM, just cleanser and moisturizer. No signs at all of an initial breakout either. Will report again at the end of week 1.
  6. Finally got my prescription of accutane so it's time I start my own log to keep track of my progress. At the moment my acne is not 'severe' but I have: very very oily skin at all times 1-2 active cysts (painful, deep and inflamed acne) a moderate amount of scaring 5-7 active zits at all times (on face) the rest of my acne is on the back and chest which have a LOT of very small zits BACKGROUND: Male, 22 years old, 75kg (165 lbs), muscular build. I've tried dan's regimen for a number o
  7. That might be true, but I don't want to take any chances. After reading this thread - http://www.acne.org/messageboard/topic/295030-repairing-the-long-term-damage-from-accutane/ - it seems accutane gets stored in the liver long term (up to years after stopping) and inhibits bile flow meaning the side-effects like dryness, hair thinning, etc seem to persist even after the course. Although a lot of the people in that thread were on much higher doses and for longer than I am, I don't want to be
  8. Just noticed the tyler's had palmitate not just beta-carotene, so it's definitely out of the question while on. What supplements are people using for liver support? NAC and a milk thistle?
  9. I'm picking up my Rx for accutane in 2 days and am taking every precaution to avoid long term side effects. Of course, I've looked into liver support while on accutane and have 2 possible products: - Tyler's Detoxification Factors [Removed] - Liv.52 by Himalaya Herbal Healthcare [Removed] I'm learning towards the Tyler's because I've heard much better reviews, and it's more readily available here. One thing to mention, is I notice it has Vitamin A (IN BETA-CAROTENE FORM)
  10. I've been slowly reading the first 10 or so pages of this thread and it's leading me to the question... Will the acne come back once your liver has been cleared of remaining accutane? Are you finding you're getting more acne as you recover from accutane?
  11. Well just got back from the derm and he says he would only perscribe me a regimen of 80mg/daily and thinks low dose therapy isn't worth it. If instead, I took the 40mg pill every OTHER day would this be the same as taking 20mg/daily?
  12. I'm seeing my dermatologist next week. Initially he wanted me to start accutane, but I opted to try out Retin-A. During this appointment I'm going to try and have him prescribe the accutane. My question is, I want to try low dose therapy (either 10mg or 20mg daily). If my derm doesn't believe in low dose therapy and is only willing to prescribe me the full dose (40mg, 60mg, or whatever), can I have the same effect as low dose therapy if I take the accutane less often? For example: I
  13. Very interesting. It seems we have a lot of commonalities with acne type, i have almost the same pattern (mainly temples and jawline - occasionally nose). Have been on clindoxyl and retin a mico for almost a year now with significant, but not enough improvement. Was thinking of starting a 10mg/daily accutane program and then going back to retin a micro just to control it (if needed). Did you have any gastrointestinal issues or any other health side effects while using (or that emerged after
  14. Hmm... I've actually never even considered that the bacteria would become resistant, seems so obvious now - especially after so many months. I'll try stopping the clindoxyl and see if anything changes when I replace it with some benzoyl peroxide. Do you think continuing to use the clindamycin would make it WORSE than if I just stopped using it (without replacing it with BP) ?
  15. True. I really hope that using less RAM will fix this. I'm also going to stop moisturizing before bed. I find my skin is very very oily and all flaking has stopped completely. Post your vitamin profile results if your doc finds anything deficient. I've been watching my diet very closely throughout as well
