  1. Retin-A is killer. I'm a 28-year old female and I've been on everything under the sun (except accutane which I won't touch). While I do think diet is important, I also believe that the less you do to your face the better. First and foremost, you should be drinking tons of water per day. Try to limit your sugar intake. I use a honey mask on my face which has done wonders, as it has anti-bacterial properties. In fact, I read about it here on Acne.org. Taking antibiotics long term is NOT good. W

Cheap, no harsh chemicals, no nasty smell I haven't noticed any yet.... I've used it for a week. So far, it hasn't caused any new zits, and seems to be "normalizing" my skin. Definitely something to add to your routine a few times a week.
  3. It makes the most sense to wash it at the end of a shower, as your pores are the most open from being in the steam.
  4. Time for an update. Sorry it hasn't been sooner...I've been busy trying to find meaning in my life and doing my best to be happy. Sometimes browsing acne.org makes me depressed. I am still picking...but, I'm doing a lot better! I think it's because I've found products that work, and keep working. I use Dan's BP and AHA...by far the best products I have ever used. I made one huge change to my daily routine, and that is my make-up. I have changed from using Gerta Spillman's Biofond makeup to TAR
  5. I've heard several people say moving to Hawaii wreaked havoc on their skin. I don't know maybe there's something in the water... Definitely make sure you're using sunscreen, as your skin looks pretty irritated. Also, I can't stress it enough...the more shit you put on your face, the worse it will be. And I don't agree with the person who said BP is the worst thing you can put on your face. I've been using it forever it seems, and it's the only thing that keeps my skin under control, until I fou
  6. So first let me make sure all of you know, I am not someone who is paid to go onto sites like these and promote products. I've been an acne.org regular for around 3 years now. You can see my thread on skin picking in the emotional and psychological effects of acne page entitled, "skin picking is ruining my life." Now that that's out of the way, I'm like most females on here in that I do NOT leave the house without makeup. It's something I've come to rely on to exist in this world. I'm a compuls
  7. Hi! Dan's AHA is the best product I've ever used. I would however, not use it twice a day...that's overdoing it. The worst thing you can do it overdo it with too much product. It will make your face hate you. I wash my face in the morning with Paula's Choice skin balancing cleanser, and apply moisturizer. I then apply Tarte skin balancing make-up which is an AMAZING product for people with acne. It literally controls the oil on your face and helps curb the break-out cycle. At night I use the s
  8. Stop using the Proactiv! I used it for 2 years, and one day it stopped working. It's extremely harsh, and the moment I stopped using it, my skin got better. Keep your cleansing simple. I'm a compulsive skin picker myself...if it was so easy to stop picking, we all would have done so by now! You're not alone, glad you stopped by at acne.org. The way you treat your skin, is the way it's going to look. If you're kind to it, it will be kinder to you in the long run. No abrasive cleansers, BP, perhap
Makes skin look gorgeous! Reduces the size of pores, corrects pigmentation problems, gets rid of blackheads, and ensures painful zits never emerge. Bad initial breakout. After battling adult hormonal acne for almost ten years, I think I have found something that actually works on a consistent basis. This product is seriously the REAL DEAL. Not only does it moisturize, but it clears your skin. I didn't think there was a product on the market that could do that! I am IN LOVE with this.
  9. Right now, I'm using Dan's AHA EVERY night. I'm literally forcing my skin to purge, internalizing that I'm going to break out and it's inevitable. It's not a very harsh product, and is especially good in conjunction with BP. So far, even though I'm breaking out a bit, my skin tone and texture have improved A LOT...and I've only been using it for about 2 weeks. I have hope with this and am willing to stick it out for a few months as I don't really have any other options at this point. Remember,
  10. I think it's really self-centered to say that your post is the most important on this thread. For me personally, I have spent almost a decade battling this skin picking problem. I HAVE answered the question you pose, and YES I want to change. It's why I've spent thousands of dollars on products, dermatologist appointments, therapy, etc. If I really wanted to be like this, why would I have gone through the trouble of doing all that? For some people, it's not as simple as answering if they want
  11. Well, stress is definitely a cause of acne, so step one is chill out I don't know about the brand of cleanser that you're using...never heard of it. I'd switch to a really basic cleanser that won't strip your skin of its natural moisture, like Dan's cleanser, Cereve, Cetaphil or Purpose. Then I'd put a shit ton of Benzol Peroxide on the area you're breaking out, followed by a moisturizer. Don't pick at the white heads even though it's tempting. Best thing you can do is not freak out. If you
  12. Hey guys. Back to ye ole message board for another fun update. Wish I could say that I'm cured...but we all know it's not that easy. I've been reading everything that everyone has posted. My heart goes out to all of you...I know what you're going through and it's tough. On a positive note, I scrapped all the products I was using, and have tried to go back to the MOST BASIC form of treatment that I can without over-drying/overdoing it. So I'm trying Dan's products. I've been using the cleanse
  13. I read an interview a while back with Keira Knightly, and she was asked how she always looks so flawless in all of her movies. She replied that she actually has really horrible skin, and spends on average from 4-7 hours a day while she's filming a movie in the make-up chair. What I thought was really interesting was that she explained how the editors of Pride and Prejudice had to go back through the whole movie and "digitally perfect" her face so that no one could see her acne. I didn't believ
  14. I just want to start out by saying that when I first started this topic a few years ago, I never realized that it would get over 6,000 views. It makes me feel like I'm not alone, although that doesn't make me want to stop picking. So yeah, I still pick at my skin. I'm practically just as obsessed as I was when I first wrote this. I want to not discourage anyone who is reading this by mentioning that. I continue to sympathize with everyone who has this problem. If there is anything positive that
