  1. I was prescribed Nicomide tablets last month to help with scarring and redness. Since it is a vitamin, insurance doesn't cover it, and it was 83.00. This month it is 92.00. I'm kind of fed up with the price and was wondering if anyone knows a good alternative? I've been researching it and it seems it is a vitamin B complex with folic acid ect in it. I was wondering if maybe GNC would have a good (and cheaper) alternative? Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks!
  2. I had this same question a while ago too only with different meds. I'm taking bactrim pills and nicomide (which is a vitamin) and evolcin and tazarac. I started tanning in March and stopped using the topicals after one day my skin was all red and blotchy. Other than that I've had no problems. I'd just start slowly, just in case you do have a bad reaction. I put some spf 8 or 15 on my face the first few times or covered my face with a towel. But so far my skin is fine. I guess it just depends how
  3. I've been on Bactrim for about 4-5 months and am pretty much completely cleared up. It worked really well. I started on the lower dosage but was bumped up to the higher dosage eventually. In about a month my doctor said I will be able to get off Bactrim. I would just talk to your derm, they would know the best plan for you.
  4. I just got my first chemical peel on Monday, out of a series of 3 every 2 weeks. There was littly dryness or peeling after it which was good, its been 2 days since. Just a few dry patches but nothing drastic. I can already see a slight improvement, so I'm hoping by the 3rd one it will be a bigger change. Right after the peel my skin was so smooth! And it did not look like I just had one done either, there was barely any redness. The peel itself burned a little bit and was very tight but only for
  5. I just got my first chemical peel on Monday as well. It's a series of 3 every 2 weeks. The first one was not bad. It burned and was very tight but only for the first 3 minutes, and you only had to leave it on for 5. They said there might be peeling and drying in the next few days. It's been 2 days and there has been little drying. A few dry spots but nothing too serious. It does look like its helped the redness a little bit. I'm hoping by the 3rd one there will be some vast improvement. Best of
  6. I'm on Bactrim (the highest dose possibe I believe) since November and it has worked really well. I'm hopefully able to get off the pills in May. I'm also taking Nicomide which is a vitamin and it's supposed to helps with the scaring/redness/marks. I've taken tetracyclin, and all those other similar pills. Bactrim has worked the best.
  7. I went to the derm on Tuesday and she prescriped Nicomide for the scars and redness. I am finally getting off Bactrim hopefully in 2 months. I'm keeping with my topicals (Tazorac and evolcin) and also getting chemical peels. I really hope it helps with the marks and redness. My insurance did not cover it either, and it was $84, but my derm gave me a $40 mail in rebate. But still, it's only for a months supply. I hope it works!
  8. I have never been on BCP before and am currently taking bactrim pills which I've been on for about 3 months and is working really well. I'm just curious as of how antibiotics compare to BCPs. I'd like to go on BCP for many reasons including acne but I just want to make sure they do work. Just wondering if anyone has any insight on which ones work the best for acne. (Can you stay on antibiotics and take BCP?) Thanks!
  9. Hi, I'm new the board (but definitely not new to acne). I've been on all types of medication and am currently on tazaroc, evolcin, and bactrim pills. They have all been working really well. However, I'm a tanning junkie (I know, I know tanning is bad for the skin but I can't help it) and I was wondering if anyone has tanned while on any of these meds? In the past I'd usually just go off my medicine to tan during the summer, since tanning kind of "covers up" acne. But this year I want to contin
