  1. Give it at least until next month. The pill balances your hormones. If you just started it, it's not done its job yet. It takes up to 3 months to see any benefit from the pill (other than birth control). I took the pill to get rid of acne, and it took 3 months.
  2. If my hands are particularly dirty, I will wash them with hand soap before doing my regimen. Otherwise, I figure my hands and face get clean together.
  3. I did try it, and I liked it, but it did nothing for my acne. Turns out topicals were not the cure for me. My acne needed hormonal treatment.
  4. 8 weeks, 6 days on regimen: I haven't updated in forever. Isn't that what happens when things are going well? ;-) So here's the deal. My skin has been steadily getting better. I don't have any big cysts, and everything deep beneath the skin has cleared up. Still have surface breakouts and blackheads, and lots of scabs and red marks from where I continue to pick at my face. If I'd just stop picking, I think I'd be a lot better off. I took pics last week which I will post tomorrow, along
  5. I was also given steroid cream for this issue around my nose/upper lip. Afterwards, my derm said my primary doctor should not have done that and may have made it worse. He gave me some cortisone cream and told me to use dandruff shampoo. I did that, and it has not come back for more than 5 years. p.s. I never had visible dandruff, but somehow using the dandruff shampoo helped. Go figure.
  6. pakifairy, I had awful jawline cystic acne that has almost completely cleared with my current regimen: NeoBenzMicro 3.5% in the AM (BP) Differin 0.3% in the PM Doryx 200mg per day 1 hour before dinner Yaz birth control pills The combination of prescription topicals, oral antibiotic, and bcp to level my hormones seems to be exactly what I needed. Good luck to you.

I love when my skin looks good enough to wear less makeup. Yay! Oh and I know what you mean about makeup on top of flaky skin - it looks worse than acne! I moisturize on top of my Differin, and it doesn't seem to have any negative impact. Hope your new regimen works for you!

I've had the same mentality recently with makeup. Caking on the concealer and foundation just makes my skin look ... cakey (duh). So for the past week or so I have just put a little bit of foundation on my fingers, dabbed it all over my face and gently smoothed it in. A little bit of loose powder over that. My spots aren't covered, but my skin looks smoother and more even. I think I look 100% better when I wear less makeup.
  9. Week 5, Day 1 Diet: My diet has been pretty good, but I have cheated and had some sweets recently. Specifically, a scone yesterday and today. So, let's see how that affects my skin next week. Skin condition: My skin is actually feeling pretty good in the last day or so. There are not many cysts or deep spots. I still have a lot of marks, and some active spots, but it's the deep stuff that really bothers me. When I wash my face, my skin doesn't hurt and it actually feels pretty smooth. Th
  10. That's what I was afraid of, b/c it is omega-6, but I often see it recommended for acne. I thought the omega-3 pills would counter the omega-6 and ensure my omega-6 to omega-3 ratio was good.
  11. bump. I also take a pill that has 15mg of zinc, plus some vitamin A and B6, L-Lysine, yellow dock, burdock, and sarsaparilla. I take that pill in the AM and PM for 30 mg of zinc total per day.
  12. Definitely it would be better but you must still take into account how much you burned during exercise and if you depleted sugar. Keep in mind that anaerobic exercise burns mostly sugar in the form of glycogen and muscular ATP whereas aerobic exercise burns less glycogen and more fatty acids.
  13. Today I purchased the following supplements by Natural Factors. What do you think? Any advice on dosages? I weigh 115 lbs. and am 5ft 6in. Evening Primrose Oil 500 mg -- directions say take 3-6 per day Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil 1000 mg -- directions say take 1-2 per day MultiAcidophilus with FOS - 4 billion active cells, non dairy -- directions say take 1-3 per day Thanks for all your support and advice.
  14. Really? It doesn't kick in for that long? I know my doc said to give it 8 weeks, but I didn't realize it would take that long to "kick in" -- I just thought it was because of IB and all that...
  15. Jane, I'm 3.5 weeks in and still breaking out like mad. I am beginning to feel very discouraged, but reading this from you makes me feel a bit more hopeful. Thanks.
  16. I do think it's genetic, but I also am hopeful that by the time my children will suffer from it, there will be more understanding of the causes, prevention, and better treatment.
