  1. How can you be so sure she's going to scar..?
  2. How long have you been on the other topicals and doxy? He may tell you to wait it out and see if those work for you before trying Accutane. If you can, see another dermatologist. You can tell them that the other treatments haven't been working and that you're ready for Accutane.
  3. Oh god I've had the same type of experience. My friends at school liked to have 'Bathroom parties' where we'd all go and wash our faces and brush our teeth and shit together. Someone with acne, like me, dreaded this..but I still did it and just hid in my towel afterwards Anyway, my friend would go 'Ugh I feel a zit coming in, I fucking hate this!!!!' and I would just go 'Shut up.' and walk away.
  4. accutane literally changes the DNA to shrink the size of the sebum. i have been reading your posts in other forums, you seem to frequent the "emotional and psychological effects of acne". Your answers are rather humurous, perhaps that's one way to cope with your persistent acne. from what i have read, you're not on accutane. but in any case, if you have been having persistent acne then accutane will decrease sebum production (number one culprit of acne), in the mean while changing the chemistry
  5. My acne was mild but very persistant, Ive had it for 5+ years and tryed many things to cure it. And by "better and better" I mean my face is not flaky anymore, my lips are returning to normal, and the few red marks I have left over are fading away. Oh! This gives me some more hope about my Accutane course I hope to be on this summer. My acne is mild but persistant as well. You never answered..did your derm really only prescribe it for 2 months?
  6. Hey all, I just wanted to say thanks so much to all your advice. I made an appointment with my dermatologist for this Friday. I'm going to ask him for Accutane, and not leave until I get it!! I hope I don't walk away disappointed But I've tried everything in the past, retinoids, antibiotics, OTC stuff, etc. My physician even said it herself that if BC didn't work, Accutane was the next step. I'm very excited, though. Even with a face full of acne right now I'm very optimistic. I know th
  7. Only 2 months, eh? That's awesome! Did your derm really only put you on it for that long? How bad was your acne to begin with? & I see you're only washing with water now and you say your face is looking better and better..complexion wise? 'Cause you said your results were flawless skin. Congrats on seeing results, though!

  9. I have a question as well.. I know for girls it takes a month before you are actually able to get your Accutane prescription. If your skin decides to clear up within that time, will Accutane still..work? I know that's sort of a strange question. But my acne is so persistent, but sometimes likes to go away in the summer from being in a stress-free environment.
  10. Thanks so much for your reply, I'm really looking forward to Accutane. Has it changed your life? glad i could help abit. yeah changed loads. ive had acne since i was 12 and im now 27. i felt like it would never go. my face is totally clear now and has been since jan this year. only thing is i just wish i had gone to see my derm when i was about 18. just keep positive because i think if you expect to get all the side effect you sorta will. i had none apart from dry skin (which moisteriser s
  11. Is it tough to get your derm to put you on Accutane? I've tried retinoids, OTC products, antibiotics, BP..you name it, and none have tackled my acne. It's very persistent, but it is only mild/moderate. I also have rolling scars and tons of red marks. What exactly does it take to be able to take Accutane? I'm very excited to go on it, despite all the side effects like the dryness and IB. I just can't wait to be acne-free for a long period of time.
  12. I know what you mean. I'm in the process of getting a summer job, and I had to apply at retail stores like American Eagle and Aeropostale. Granted, I shop there. But it was hard going in there because most people with low self esteem don't shop at those places, so beauties walk in all day long.
  13. Do low doses deliver the same long term results as higher doses? I have mild/moderate acne as well and I'm going to ask my derm for Accutane on Friday. FINGERS CROSSED!!
