  1. Hey, I've had erratic live enzymes for years. I've lifted weights for 15 years so have always had a high protein intake at the same time that my enzymes were high...I don't think that's just a coincidence. About 2 years ago I wanted to go on Accutane but my derm wouldn't let me because were enzymes seemed high. I decided to find if there was anything I could take to improve my levels and liver function. I found out milk thistle is supposed to be great for your liver. I took it for a few mo
  2. Yeah, did all the time for over a decade. Either no one is there to listen, no one up there gives a sh*t, or I'm just supposed to deal with it and be a better person for it. Well, I say bullsh*t to all of those. I'd just assume be less of a person with clear skin...no freakin' contest.
  3. Yeah, it's definitely a trigger for many people but it's sad that a lot of dermatologists refuse to advice people about dietary changes. I began getting bad cysts again back in May '07 after not really dealing with them for years....I had severe cystic acne as a teenager. I went to the dermatologist who of course jumped right to the Retin-A and antibiotics which after many months had done nothing for my acne plus now my skin was dry, flaky, and irritated. Then, in November, I realized my prob
  4. I was in the Vitamin Shoppe the other day looking for some aloe and vitamin E when I noticed this line of products. They had an Ester-C lotion with aloe and vitamin E in it so I picked it up. I really like it so far. I use it mostly at night since it doesn't have sunscreen in it but it smells nice, leaves no residue at all, and mosturizes nicely. Just wondering if anyone else has tried it?
  5. worth it, but rough? I don't mean to pry, but could you elaborate slightly? I'm about to start isotretinoin (pending the bloodwork) and I'm dreading the side effects.
  6. Hey, I recently had the worst cyst of my life and was in the same situation you are in. I followed the advice found in the link below. Mine was dramatically better in 6 days time so you should be fine. When I iced it, I put a cube in a plastic bag and alternated 1 minute on 5 minutes off until the cube as gone. If I had time, I would do another cube. Just don't pick at it anymore. You've already got the infection out. You'll just cause nothing but extra damage messing with it now. Hope i
  7. Well, I accutane helped me win a major battle with acne but the war was ongoing. I went on it when I was 19 or 20 after having severe cystic acne from the age of 13. It dramatically reduced my cystic acne. I still had issue with inflamed acne throughout my twenties and still got the occasionally nasty cyst but I never really had multiple one all over my face like before accutane. Several months ago I did began getting cysts consistent again. I would have 1-2 at any one time. They just keep
  8. Moppie, I urge you to give it a shot. Dermatologists have their place but there are certain things most will never advise simply because they won't waver from the accepted "protocols" of how to deal with acne. I can't help but believe diet can be huge part of some people's problems. Almost all of your body functions are dominated by hormone levels. They can be incredibly powerful even in small amounts. Almost everyone's acne problems began in adolescence when our bodies begin producing muc
  9. Well, I don't know if the science will prove that it causes aging but I've used it for years to try to control my inflamed acne. I do believe it was giving my skin a very dried out, dull appearance that no amount of moisturizing seemed to help. I always had my worst break outs along my cheeks, and I feel I have far more fine lines than I should. I believe it's exaggerated any natural aging that has occurred. So just over 3 weeks ago, after using retinoids and BP since I was 13 without ever
  10. Hey, I've been using the 10% serum for about 3 weeks now. I have a combination of inflamed acne, cysts, and large pores on my nose that always seem to have blackheads in them. So far, I'm extremely happy with the results. I have had no new acne since I began using it with the exception of a cyst that began forming before the product could have done anything about it. My red marks from previous outbreaks are fading very rapidly and the pores on my nose haven't been this tight and blackhead f
  11. Thanks for your input. I guess I'm just rather desperate. I have the worst cyst I've ever gotten. I'm just freakin' out because I have a week long vacation with a bunch of friends coming up on Jan 19, and I want it gone by then. There are no dermatologists anywhere around me that will do injections for them. I'd take my chances on scarring if it would just go away. I read your recommendations for dealing with one. Do you think there is any value in using an aspirin paste on it?
  12. I posted this over in the cystic acne area but thought I'd put it here too since it concerns a prescription product. I just got back from my dermatologist and he gave me a sample of Tri-luma to try on a stubborn red spot leftover from a cyst that has been long gone. After reading up on this medication, I'm wondering if anyone has used this for an active or receding cyst. It's a combination of bleaching agent, retinoid, and a medium strength corticosteroid. It sounds like the perfect thing to he
  13. It sounds like the perfect thing to help kick a cyst in the ass. So, anyone have any thoughts or has anyone tried it? Thanks.
  14. Hey, I'd love to know how you do with the mandelic acid. I'm on day 5 or 6 with it. I've actually had 2 nasty cysts come up with the last 2 days. I'm hoping the mandelic will prevent them from turning in to monsters. Some people have said it helps with that. My redmarks from previous cysts are fading very fast but its too soon to tell if it will help prevent anymore. I have seem to have 1-3 at any given time and all the retinoids and BP don't do a damn thing to stop them. I'm hoping mande
  15. is anyone that gets cysts using mandelic acid? I'm wondering if I can spot treat with it. I'm on day 5 or 6 using it and have developed 2 large cysts. I thought I saw someone mention it helped keep them at bay and speeded the recovery. Any suggestions?
