  1. bump...hoping for anyone to help out with some advice
  2. Yeah that's unfortunately how I'm feeling as well. I really don't want to start another medication that I'm never going to be able to give up - I just want to be able to wash my face, moisturize and go to bed. Any others?
  3. Merry xmas and happy new years to everyone! For my xmas gift, I have finally completed accutane after 7.5 months. A GREAT gift. But I have been on accutane twice before, for a total of three times. Each time, obviously, I've relapsed and have issues with acne. My derm followed the same protocol and prescribed me retin-a micro once again for maintenance therapy after this last time. The issue is, it doesn't seem to be working for me. Each time I have applied the retin-a micro after accutane
  4. From what I've been told and have researched, taking other vitamins such as vitamin C, zinc, fish oil, etc. is just fine, and some claim may even be beneficial during treatment. One thing to look out for with the fish oil is to make sure it's not cod liver oil, as that contains high levels of vitamin A.
  5. As anyone on Accutane who still wants to take a multivitamin during their course knows, multis without vitamin A are hard to find. I've spent quite a bit of time researching to try to find one besides the ebA Multivitamin, which I feel is overpriced - especially with shipping costs. I got lucky today while at Walgreens, and randomly picked up a multivitamin that was geared towards eye health - the kicker is it doesn't have any vitamin A. I was definitely surprised and happy about this discove
  6. I'll be completely honest, I drank quite a bit my first course of accutane, and all my tests came back normal. I'm sure I wasn't doing myself any favors, but I haven't experienced any issues as of yet. *knock on wood*
  7. The first time I took accutane, I went up to 194mg/kg - my acne still came back. I've also read that anything beyond 150mg/kg is relatively marginal in difference i improvement. I'm on accutane again, with a goal of approximately 150mg/kg this time around.
  8. I could only find this excerpt from the rxlist website: OVERDOSE The oral LD50 of isotretinoin is greater than 4000 mg/kg in rats and mice ( > 600 times the recommended clinical dose of 1.0 mg/kg/day after normalization of the rat dose for total body surface area and > 300 times the recommended clinical dose of 1.0 mg/kg/day after normalization of the mouse dose for total body surface area) and is approximately 1960 mg/kg in rabbits (653 times the recommended clinical dose of 1.0 mg/kg/da
  9. I started out with bad acne - It was all over my chest and face, with some on my neck and even scalp. A lot of that cleared up but I was still breaking out pretty badly around month 6. It was only around month 7-8 I started clearing up much more, and now I only have 1-2 a week. I am just stuck in a position where I feel like I've come this far on the course...I feel like I may as well just do it to ensure I'm getting maximum results and won't have to go through this again
  10. Has anyone heard of any studies being done on this?
  11. I agree I feel like I am putting a lot of that medicine in my body - I'm willing to pay the price for clear skin but I didn't know if there was a ceiling for exactly how far I can go. I know my body is doing alright (blood tests are good, I don't feel bad besides the usual side effects) but I have not found any documentation on this issue throughout all my research on it
  12. So I just finished 8.5 months on Accutane, doing 80mg a day. My derm said he wants to have me on until I have at least a 2-week period of time where I am completely clear...This has not happened yet. I heard the optimal dose for cumulative Accutane intake is roughly 125mg/kg. Currently, here are my stats: I weigh 100kg I have taken 20,400mg of Accutane My ratio is then 20,400mg/100kg = 204mg/kg. Is this too much? I still have to go see my derm on Monday and he may prescribe another box. Ca
  13. So I'm wondering what the best treatment is to use after Accutane might be. I understand that many choose to go without using any further treatments - which is what I would love to do. But I understand it might be important to have a "maintenance" topical. I would like to see where everyone's stance is on this topic
  14. Moderators - Accidentally entered this topic twice. Please delete this one - thank you!
  15. i heard about some complications with indented or pitted scars occurring because of kenalog shots...has this ever happened? and does the area stay clear after the shots?
