  1. hey all, just a little fyi ... i am not putting down the dove, obviously everyone loves it. however. be aware that often your derm is recommending something b/c that company came to her office, gave her samples, and paid her to recommend it. seriously. just like drug reps. so you can't always trust dermatologists. i actually have a friend who is a salesperson who goes to derm's offices and sells... anyway. do your research.
  2. who has had this done? what are the results? how long are you red for? thanks.
  3. that is just plain stupid. maybe when you wank off you sweat and then don't wash your face immediately so you clog your pores. why don't you try washing your face after you pleasure yourself. and stop stressing over it - you're probably causing the acne by worrying that your jerking off will break you out. they taught that crap in bible school when masturbation was still a "sin" - it's not true. plain and simple.

  7. my derm's smoothbeam laser broke so i am getting clearlight treatment but w/ a 1 hr long peel called "levulen" ... i did a search w/ that spelling and came up w/ nothing. apparently it will leave me pink for a few days and very photosensitive, but the levulen helps the clearlight penetrate and therefore is good for both scars AND active acne. anyone have ANY info on this?? thx

  9. i want to recommend a book to all of you - it's called _don't go to the cosmetics counter without me_ and it's by paula begoun. (she's the one who started paula's choice brand) she reviews almost every single cosmetic, toner, cleanser, etc under the sun and also explains different ingredients and terms. for instance: "dermatologist recommended" means absolutely NOTHING! the fda has no regulations on what these terms have to mean, so "derm recommended" could mean that a dermatologist who is
  10. oh honey, you are so gorgeous!! i know you feel insecure but you don't need to be! maybe that is roseacea?? (ok that's the wrong spelling, i apologize)
  11. maybe ask your derm about different laser treatments that work to even your skin tone. good luck!
  12. topamax isn't an antidepressant, it's a an anticonvulsant. i have been on: zoloft, wellbutrin, effexor and celexa and none made any difference on my skin whatsoever. everyone is different though, ask your doctor if he/she has ever seen it...
  13. ha! glad i'm not the only one who found that annoying. update: after using the puredeming soap, beta hydroxy, egg/lemon masque and baking soda religiously my skin is looking just AWESOME. red marks, but NO acne! not ANY new pimples!! i have cut down to the intense gel ev. 3 days and stopped the salt water - after 5 days it just stung too much.... i'm guessing this is because of all the intense exfoliation that the other products have been doing. didn't want to aggravate the ski
  14. a. Who the hell makes salad dressing out of baking soda? b. It's "ingredientS" - plural, not singular, oh my little brainiac. c. Why are you wasting your time making comments when they're pointless and unhelpful. d. If you actually read anything this technique has worked for others and I thought I'd share with people feeling the same way I do. http://www.acne.org/messageboard/index.php...81entry414681 http://www.acne.org/messageboard/index.php?showtopic=35135 http://www.acne.org/messa
  15. the soaps i have had the BEST result with are: purpose puredeming olive & castile (my ABSOLUTE favorite) and cetaphil if you use cetaphil make sure to use a toner to get any excess makeup traces off (if you wear makeup)
  16. For the last week or so I've left desperate posts regarding the sudden moderate acne outbreaks on my cheeks. (I'm 25 and while I had severe cystic acne as a teen, by 20 and up my only concern was my severe scars.) After reading a couple intriguing posts on this website, I have stopped my antibiotic treatment and bp. With AMAZING and FAST results. I just thought I'd share... My routine right now is: Evening: Cleanser - Puredeming Olive Castile Bar - Exfoliate w/ a paste of baking soda and
  17. hmm the weird thing is i've NEVER had acne on my cheeks/jawline/mouth . . . at least not for 10 yrs or so. how long should it take these puppies to behave?
  18. well i went on yasmin 2 months ago and have yet to see results. otherwise i'm treating w/ paula's choice beta hydroxy 2% daily, puredeming intense gel every other day, and copper peptides every other day. i'm starting to notice them dry up, but they are so RED and prominent!!!! hopefully the yasmin will start to kick in, i was told acne in that spot is hormonal. . .
  19. ok here are pictures of my adult onset acne. i had acne as a teenager but it wasn't this type. can anyone explain to me - is this cystic? why only in one area of my face? my apologies if these are too large or blurry - i'm horrid w/ computers.
  20. did anyone notice an initial breakout??
