  1. I haven't updated in a long time for lots of reasons, but this is the main one: I finally went to a dermatologist for the first time in my life *moderator edit*, and since being on Bactrim, a steroid, and Benzaclin, my skin has cleared up about 80% of the way. I went to see her again today, and she has suggested that I begin to use both Tazorac and Retin-A, alternating every other evening, while using the Benzaclin as a spot treatment. I only have one week of Bactrim left, and it has really w
  2. Sometimes I get a swollen lump under my chin, which I just researched online because I currently have one, and I think it's a swollen lymph node...and I was very surprised (and relieved) to see that many people experience this when they have cystic acne. So I will be mentioning this to my dermatologist on Monday. I have to admit that this all can be a little scary.
  3. DAY 21: In terms of my skin, my vacation was a disaster. For the first time ever, I didn't even want to be involved in any family pictures, and I didn't even want anyone to look at me. It got a little worse after that last picture that I uploaded to here, and it has basically stayed that way, even though the sun on the beach seemed to dry it out a little. I also, however, got a bit of sunburn, even though I tried to be REALLY careful. Sigh. I cried silently in the back of the car on the wa
  4. Thanks for the reply. I hate being relatively out of control of the situation, but I know I have to be patient.
  5. I'm obsessing over this website. Have I already experienced my initial breakout, I wonder? I wish I could know. If so, it was not SUPER bad. If not, I'm afraid of what's to come...
  6. DAY 15: The bumps that are underneath are finally starting to get smaller, and there are no active pimples. I added a new product to my evening regimen yesterday: Kiss My Face Peaches and Cream Moisturizer, with 4% AHA. It burned when I put it on, but my skin is definitely calmer this morning. Things seem to be drying up and healing rather quickly. Here's hoping for even clearer skin for my vacation at the beach, starting this Tuesday!
  7. I don't know. There is one deep red spot on my left cheek that feels like it could be a doozy, and there is also one on my right jawline. I'm afraid that I spoke too soon and might be getting an initial breakout, even though my face is sooooooo much smoother than it was before. Sigh.
  8. DAY 13: The flat red bumps that are on the left side of my face (always the worst side) had a few heads this morning, so I gently popped them. Another thing that I have noticed on the Differin is that whiteheads are really READY to be popped because I only have to squeeze gently for them to release. Otherwise, the two that were active on my right cheek are not active anymore. Overall, my skin seems more red today, but it appears that everything is healing okay. I went out last night and dra
  9. *moderator edit* I posted on this message board a few years ago, singing praises of the Clear Skin Regimen, but it stopped working for me (See my signature for more details.). I started on YAZ a few months ago to combat my ever-worsening moderate acne, but it hasn't seemed to do much, except lessen the frequency of breakouts but not the INTENSITY of them. *moderator edit* I will keep this thread updated as I see changes, but what I'm really hoping for is to forget about this website, like I d
  10. I'm on my 12th day of using Differin gel (0.3%), and there was no initial breakout at all...it just started clearing me up almost immediately, with a SIGNIFICANT difference happening on the 10th day. On the second day, though, I don't remember any huge changes; I was still miserable and self-conscious from experiencing yet another horrible breakout. You haven't given it much time at all yet, but if you're still not seeing results in a few weeks, maybe you would do better with the stronger perc
  11. Honestly, I always felt like the reason that Proactiv didn't work for me was because of the harsh cleanser. And BP certainly isn't for everyone. Have you talked to a dermatologist?
  12. Thanks so much for your responses. I have a feeling that the return of my acne also has to do with my lack of exercise and proper nutrition. I have now joined Weight Watchers and am incorporating exercise into my daily routine. I hope to see my skin clear up soon (as it seems to be doing already). I'm almost 25 years old and was hoping I wouldn't have to worry about this anymore by now, but c'est la vie. Thanks again.
  13. Hi, everyone. I have been using the DKR since July of 2006 and experienced almost an entire year of acne-free skin. I admit to being lazy here and there (at night) during that year, but no major breakouts ever happened. Then, suddenly, around June of 2007, I started to get pimples again. I thought, "Uh oh, okay, I've learned my lesson: no more being lazy ever." So I haven't missed a step since, but I'm still breaking out. The breakouts are not as bad or as frequent as before I started the
