  1. what exactly do you eat/avoid?

i'm interested in going veg so i'd love to hear your story...

I avoid any meat as much as I can. I don't eat bread and dairy at all. I can eat as many vegetables, fish and fruit as I want. And real butter! I have also noticed that a tablespoon of olive oil in the morning together with the fish oil have really improved my skin. It's so soft! :D

  2. I buy lots of bags with frozen vegetables. I cook a bag in the morning and eat them with lots of melted butter. The fat in the butter helps a lot. I don't feel hungry for hours after eating vegetables with melted butter. I might eat oats in the morning sometimes, but not often.

My skin is still looking great. :D

this is not good for your health. i have been a vegetarian for a dozen years now.

if you want to eat butter, you should at least switch to smart balance. it is much healthier for you.

being a vegetarian does not automatically equate to good health. i know many who are overweight, diabetic and suffer from high cholesterol.

if you are looking for a filling breakfast, you can try tofu srcambles with gimme lean brand sausage and or morning star farms sausage or bacon. when eating cheese, please consider reduced fat varieties. and eliminate whole milk in favor of skim or soy.

there are many great varieties of un-meats on the market. but you may have to tinker with them to get them to your tasting if you are going to stick w/ the veg diet. i often buy soy burgers and cook them in a frying pan with a small amount of olive oil, cracked sea salt, garlic and cracked pepper or cajun seasoning. i eat them on whole wheat buns with a-1 steak sauce. very tasty. :D

there are also faux chicken patties by boca and morning star farms. i usually just nuke those for 1.45 and eat them in sandwiches, with pasta, make chicken salad sandwiches (using reduced fat/ lite mayo), etc.

for dinner, smart life makes GREAT unsteak strips. they are phenominal. i lightly sautee them in a pan with olive oil, sherry wine, fresh garlic, onion, shitaki/ portabello mushrooms and a-1 topped with sea salt and fresh cracked pepper.

for snacks i eat say beans, fresh carrots, celery, fruits, pretzels, etc. i sometimes splurge on raspberry sherbert.

if you are going to be a veg. it is very important you watch what you eat. even if you don't gain weight, a diet of lots of butter every morning or even a few times a week will make you very ill long term. you need to be sure you are getting enough iron, b complex (6, 12), amino acids, omega 3's etc. but once you figure it all out, it will become second nature. and remember to always check labels, serving sizes, saturated fats, etc.

I am not an unexperienced vegetarian. I have been one before from age 16-24. I know how to eat healthy. Right now I also eat fish, so I am not really a vegetarian. But staying away from meat keeps my skin clear.

  3. Wow... what a difference! What was the motivation to give up grains? And what protein do you eat now?

I noticed that grains break me out. I tested many times to make sure I was right. I get enough protein from fish, like tuna.

  5. I was a vegetarian from age 16-24. When I started to eat meat again it took 9 months before I got acne. And I've had really bad acne for almost two years now. I think it's weird that my acne started to heal so fast after I stopped eating meat and fish! Maybe it's the hormones in the meat?? I will try to add fish to my diet later, but right now I just want to enjoy my clear skin! :D
