  1. Happy birthday! :D

  2. 22 and I've had oily skin for about 3 years. It started after I tried Proactive. I started having breakouts around 16 or 17 but still no noticeable oil. I used Proactive for about a month shortly after I turned 19 and then started noticing how shiny my face was (that isn't why I stopped using it, I stopped because it made my acne worse). The real "treatment" that sent the oil over the top was Carly's Clean and Smooth. After I used that (for about two months) I started gushing oil it seemed. That
  3. I've been using Humco brand glycerin, but any brand should do as long as it's USP. As for the Urea, that specific brand is used for color dyeing and isn't processed to be used on humans, so I don't recommend using it. Check this website for an alternative. http://www.personalformulator.com/wvss/pro...products_id=414 Just wondering, but I don't suppose that Urea is harmful when mixed with water? The MSDS sheet says it is an irritant and to rinse it off after skin contact.
  4. Check out this article: http://www.livestrong.com/article/195927-a...-herb-for-acne/ It is short but does an excellent job of explaining what DC just said. I actually just found out about the whole anti-androgen thing yesterday and am going to pick up some Saw Palmetto today. I had a similar reaction to B5 as you did. I saw a slight oil reduction but never anything major. So if you want to continue taking it then feel free as some have good luck with it, and I'll report back about the Saw Palm
  5. Well after years of OTC crap, I think it's time to go to a professional. The main reason I haven't gone is because my insurance covers pretty much everything except a dermatologist so it's going to be pretty expensive, but all the money I throw into products that don't work probably add up to a lot more. Anyway, just wondering if there are any tips on getting the most from the visit? Mainly I'd like to know if I should take the products I'm currently using with me for her to look at it, or have
  6. Dan sells it http://www.danielkern.com/category-s/28.htm
  7. I have been on the hunt for a cleanser that doesn't make my face tight and dry for months now. I have used he following cleansers: Acne.org, Cetaphil, Aveeno, Biore, Clean and Clear, 4 or 5 different Clearasil's, Carley's Clean and Smooth, Proactiv, AcneFree, and Neutrogena (probably forgetting a couple also). These all work great as cleansers, but fail to live up to the "doesn't dry out your skin" part of their description. Finally I found one that doesn't dry out my face and make it extremely
  8. Sounds like what Pantothenic Acid does...
  9. I will be tuning in to see if anyone has any good advice. This is also a problem I have..
  10. I also cut caffeine. I did it cold turkey. I decided one day that no matter how delicious Mountain Dew was, it needed to go. I physically feel better but I haven't seen a big improvement in my acne yet. I'm still working on a healthy diet to go along with it. I hope to see your results in the near future.
  11. The Acne.org Regimen is MUCH better than Proactiv. Proactiv made my skin worse. I blame it for a lot of the minor scars I have. Horrible product. The Acne.org Regimen made a HUGE difference. It didn't clear me 100% unfortunately, but I would say about 80-85%. Just have to be patient with it.
  12. Whey protein is NEEDED if you are wanting to gain muscle. You need 2 grams of protein per pound of body weight every day if you are wanting to gain muscle effectively. How many nuts will you have to eat to get that much? WAY TOO MANY. My advice, keep taking the whey protein. If you are 97% clear, it is not the whey protein that is causing your few little bumps. Body builders and your average Joe that goes to the gym take in A LOT of protein every day and what happens to them? They get bigger m
  13. I think it differs in everyone. Kind of like how benzoyl peroxide works for some people and salicylic works for others. I personally have tried changing my diet many times for extended periods of time only to see no results in my acne. Others swear by it and see great results. Who knows...
  14. I use the Gillette Fusion. It's a 4 blade that vibrates to stand up whiskers. It causes absolutely no irritation at all. I started out with a two blade per Dan's recommendation and it worked OK but the Fusion is really a great razor. I have dealt with a lot of acne on my chin and the Fusion hasn't bothered it at all.
  15. www.clearandsmoothskin.com The Industrial Strength "Teen" cleanser is working wonders for me right now. I have tried so many different regimens over the past 5 or 6 years I have been dealing with acne and this one is actually working. I would suggest reading through everything on their site and understanding their products and how to use them. They are great, though. I have done countless hours of research about what works and what doesn't and have tried just about all of it so please feel fr
