Currently a little depressed, I think mostly due to accutane. But in my former vibrant life I loved yoga, ballet, hiking, backpacking, camping, swing dancing, reading, and pretty much living life.

    tane and sun

Yes, wears tons of sunscreen! 4 months into my accutane regimen I went hiking. I wore a tank top without sunscreen at 10,000-14,000 feet (hiking a 14er in the Colorado Rockies) for the 8 hours+. At first I thought I just had a bad sunburn, put some aloe on my shoulders, and went to sleep. The next day I had such excruciating pain, I was in tears all day at work. I had gotten second degree burns and the only thing that would help was lots of asprin (MUST be asprin) and a burn spray. I would cry j

    Waxing & Accutane

DON'T DO IT! I was in the middle of my accutane regimen and it was my 21st birthday. I wanted so bad to have nice eyebrows for my big party. I thought it really couldn't be that bad could it? I was wrong! We waxed one side and it pulled off multiple layers of skin. The lady ended up tweezing the other side. The first day didn't look so bad, just really red. But for the next week as my skin grew back, I looked like a clingon from Star Trek. Not pretty! I was scared to go get waxed after I got off

Read This! Sexual side effects from accutane

I was on accutane for 6 months and stopped taking it August of 2004. I have had severe lasting effects that could be from nowhere else besides accutane. I'm glad to know I'm not just a complete anomaly and other people have had the the same problems too. I started to have "down there" dryness that gradually got worse when as I was on accutane and since I have been off of it, my problem has gotten progressively worse and now it is very difficult to have any wetness at all. I have used lube since

    Job problems?

I too have had all "face" jobs and sometimes it is hard to go to work in the morning. I went to school for hotel management and during school I worked at the front desk and in the restaurants. I felt like a terrible ambassador for the hotel and to make matters worse, those terrible polyester uniforms didn't help a bit. I changed jobs almost a year ago and now work in government, at the front desk. I'm an admin for a small town government in the planning and building department, so I see alot o

    Wedding in 3 months! Help!

One more thing...I have used a washcloth for years and now I have stopped using it to wash my face. Hopefully less irritation will help.

    Wedding in 3 months! Help!

I really appreciate all the advide everyone is giving me. It has been a great help and it's nice to hear that I'm not the only one without perfect skin for my wedding day. So this is the regimen that I have been using for the past week based on everyone's advice: Morning: Dan's face wash, Dermalogica salicylic acid, moisturizer, fish oil pill, vitamin a (beta carotene), Dermalogica tinted sulfer on the big ones (works pretty good as a concealer) Evening: Dan's face wash, Dan's benzoyl peroxide

    Let's talk about your genetics.

Could you tell me if your dad and mom had acne when they were your age? My dad had mild acne when he was younger, I don't know what age, but his mom worked for a derm's office so he got treatment fairly regularly. He said at that time, the 50's and early 60's, all they basically did was put you under a heat lamp and tell you to sit out in the sun in the summer (AHHH! the skin cancer). He has some pock marks and scars from acne. My mom has had mild acne most of her adulthood and even now at 48 s

So, I went to the salon yesterday and had an amazing facial (and got a cute new haircut ala Mandy Moore). This lady was so comprehensive and really focused on trying to help clear me up, instead of just slathering on cream after cream like most facials I've gotten. Those probably make the situation worse if those people don't know how to treat acne and probably clog up pores more than it helps. The lady really got in there. I thought she was going to squeeze my whole face off by trying to work o

    Foundation & acne

I use Almay (recommended by my derm) and it works pretty well. It's not very thick, so if you want full coverage it works only ok, but better than nothing, huh? In the past I have also used Neutrogena foundation and am thinking about going back to that because it has sunscreen in it and is good for being outside all the time in the summer.

"Have you ever had your allergies tested? Try avoiding common allergens. Search on the Nutrition and Holistic forum for discussions. It turned out that my horrible cystic acne I was given accutane for was an allergy to oranges and to a lesser extent, other citrus. Things I believed would be good for my skin." I had an other person suggest to me to stop drinking orange juice for my cronic allergies. Maybe there's something to that. I have a glass of OJ nearly every morning and now that it's s

I'm so sorry to hear this. Yeah, acne stinks! How many months were you on the Accutane before finishing your course of the meds? I was on accutane for 6 months and finished out all my meds. What type of horrible side effects did you get from being on Accutane? Are the side effects you're mentioning something you're afraid of getting, or side effects you actually experienced? Dried, cracked, peeling, lips. Bad nose bleeds 2 or 3 times a week. Every inch of my skin being extremely dry. Dry eye
