  1. Hi I was reading your post about solodyn. Did this eventually work for you?

I am a 30/f dealing with the same exact symptoms as you & have gone hermit b/c of my skin. Any info woulf b awesome. Thx

  2. I don't have the means to post pictures. My reasoning for feeling like I have folliculitis is that after shaving sometimes it looks like some of my hairs aren't coming through, almost like ingrown hairs. It's red and it sometimes just stays red and goes away, and other time they get inflammed. I very rarely get your typical white head zit. Since Feb I've been getting these huge inflammed spots, which my derm called cysts. I have only been getting 2 or 3 at a time but they are huge, ugly, a
  3. Well, I couldn't get in to see my regular derm, but I got an appt with his asst. who actually wasn't an complete asshole. He didn't rush me and answered alot of questions. First he said it's not uncommon anymore for adults in their 30's and 40's to develop acne for the first time, although I've read it's uncommon. He also said what I have are cysts, and that since they all seem to be in my bearded area around the hair follicles, he wants me to use the brevoxyl wash as a shaving cream. I to
  4. I really appreciate the help RBS. I'm scheduled for my next derm appt in 3 weeks, but am trying to get in earlier with little success at this point. I'm going to attempt to discuss this folliculitis again and demand his time. Another derm, whom I was going to last year basicly just blew me off when I brought up folliculitis. He opened up a book and showed me disgusting pictures of the worst case of this condition known to man, and said do you still think you have this. He was getting pissed
  5. Thanks for the response. How would you suggest treating this? I know nobody here is a doctor, but I'm getting nowhere with derms. I've seen 4 of them and I have mentioned folliculitis, but they just dismiss it and call it acne and proceed to just shell out all kinds of anti-biotics and topicals. I don't feel going to every derm in the city until I find someone who will help, because they have all been useless so far. What over the counter pills are anti-fungal? What should I use on my fa
  6. This is very interesting, so I thought I'd ask you guys for some help. Long story short I've had perfect skin my whole life, never any acne anywhere even as a teenager. About a year and a half ago, at age 31 I started to have some acne pop up on my face and went to the derm. Since then I've been given all types of anti-biotics and topicals, and my acne (Folliculitis? ) has gotten worse and worse. I now am developing acne on the back of my arms and back. My arm and back acne looks similar t

    Blood Tests?

Just curious if your derms have ever sent you guys for blood tests. I have developed adult acne about a year and a half ago, at age 31, for the first time in my life. I've been to 4 derms who continue to give me antibiotics, topicals, face washes, you name it. I'm currently on Solodyn 100 mg, and have 3 weeks left on my 2 month script before my next appt. All of my research points to a hormonal imbalance (androgen) that is the leading cause of male and female adult onset acne, and can be t
  8. Hey Pete, I never really knew that liver problems may cause acne. I had a spine surgery a year ago and have been taking percocet pain pills for the last year to help me with the pain. During this time my mild acne has become terrible, with the big red angry zits that leave scars. My question is do you or anyone else think the pain meds may have damaged my liver, thus causing the bad acne? Each percocet pill I take contains 650 mg of acetaminophen, and on the information sheet that comes with
  9. O.K. so what happens when you stop the antibiotic? I have recently been put on Solodyn and I'm worried that once I stop this drug my acne will come back worse than before. Do you guys know if this is true? If the antibiotic kills the bacteria causing the acne, once you stop won't the bacteria just come right back? I'm just so confused and extremely worried my condition will become worse once I stop the Solodyn. I've noticed a slight improvement in the 2 weeks on Solodyn 90mg, washing in
  10. Hello, I have moderate acne that has been getting worse lately so my derm just gave me 90mg Solodyn. I wasn't taking any oral antibiotics for the last 6 months, just washing with Brevoxyl in the morning, and applying Clindamycin lotion in the morning and evening. He told to just add the Solodyn. I'm a 33 yr old guy that NEVER had acne of any kind until about a yr and a half ago. and I just don't understand why this is happening now... I have recently been getting these deep, painfull zits (I be

  12. Hey Wynne, yes only one on the back of my right thigh. I couldn't make it to the derm today so I'm just going to monitor it for now, I noticed it did go down a bit. Are "generalized skin eruptions" just another term for zits or something else? Also after researching when I used the steroids, they were in December and again in April but they were in a pack for only six days. I think I took 6 the first day , then 5, then 4...... all the way down to the 6th and last day. It just seems like s
  13. I 've been on the Bactrim for 1 and a half days and I'm wondering if im having a bad reaction. I have this big sore/bump of purplish color that has developed on the back of my right thigh, looks like a big ugly zit but never had one there before. Is this a bad reaction? I can't see my derm until tomorrow morning, can anyone help?
  14. Thanks Wynne for all the info, but what are probiotics? My derm didn't mention that. Also, since this diagnosis ive been researching this follicultis and I am kinda freaking out because a most of the information talks about people with hiv get this. I'm a sexually active guy and for me to all of a sudden get this has now got me freakin out about this hiv stuff. Do you have any info on this because of the hypocondriak that I am I'm now worried sick. thanks
  15. Hello all, I just wanted to share with everyone here that has been so helpful to me what my new derm said today. For those of you who aren't familar with my problem.....32 yr old male, perfect skin my whole life (even teens) then all of a sudden acne started about 8-9 months ago. Been to 2 derms who said I have ance and just keep testing new antibiotics and topicals on me, with no success. So today I went to my 3rd derm and I feel like he finally found out whats going on, but I wanted to get
