  1. It's now around 4 months since i finished accutane. I suffered a little throughout the course with the usual i.e very dry peeling skin etc, but generally after the course (6 months) ended i was very happy. I was looking great and feeling so confident. But about 2 weeks ago i made a BIG mistake. I was on holiday and on the first day i decided to buy a face wash, as throughout the course and ever since, i have not used one. i was told the skin can remain sensitive for 6 months to 1 year after ac
  2. Hi all, i guess i'm not here for advice - just to tell people how i've been feeling and how i worry that it may change soon. only a couple of months ago i was unbelievably miserable - never wanted to go out, didn't want to talk to anyone, didn't get any pleasure from any of the nice little things in life - listening to music, watching films, eating & drinking - all felt meaningless. all i wanted to do was sit by myself and be miserable. But then these magic little pills called roaccutane cha
  3. I've been on accutane for about 2 months now at 20mg per day for my mild/moderate acne. I had a very minor initial breakout but then after only about 3 weeks it seemed to just stop my acne in it's tracks. I'm usually the kind of person who wakes up with at least 2 or 3 new spots every single morning but i've been so happy as for a few weeks i've been waking up with a clear face every day! (apart from old red marks). my skin was very dry for a start but what's worrying me is suddenly for the la
  4. i originally posted this under over the counter medications but i've had no replies so i'll try my luck here.... i live in the uk and i'm taking accutane so my skin now dries up like crazy. the moisturiser i've been using up until now has always been fine (it's a tesco oil free one with zinc) but it's just not doing the job anymore now i'm on accutane. i find i have to re-apply it about 5-10 times a day. does anyone know of a REALLY good moisturiser easily available in the uk which helps alot w
  5. i live in the uk and i'm taking accutane so my skin now dries up like crazy. the moisturiser i've been using up until now has always been fine (it's a tesco oil free one with zinc) but it's just not doing the job anymore now i'm on accutane. i find i have to re-apply it about 5-10 times a day. does anyone know of a REALLY good moisturiser easily available in the uk which helps alot with very dry & peeling skin?
  6. I've been on 20mg per day of roaccutane for just over a month now, and for the first couple of weeks i thought the side effects were easily tolerable. but for the last week or so it's gotten out of control! itching all over (i've had my blood tests done again to see if it's a liver problem), painfully dry and cracking lips, peeling & red face which no amount of moisturising seems to help, peeling 'down there' which is so extreme it bled when me and my new girlfriend tried having sex yesterda
  7. I've been on 20mg per day of accutane for about a month now and although it's early days my skin seems to be improving. I would normally be very very happy about this but i'm quite concerned about a side effect i seem to be experiencing... intense itching all over my body which seems to get about 5 times worse at night when i'm trying to sleep. anyone else had this? i'm very worried about it as i found out itching can be a sign of liver damage. i had my liver function tests before i started but
  8. I had a massive cyst about 3 weeks ago which i came on here and complained alot about! doc prescribed me with 5 days of penicillin and it went right down - almost completely disappeared! i was very happy about this but over the last 2 days i've noticed it's started to come back, getting redder again and swelling right back up again!?! i'm starting to think it might not even be anything to do with acne...? anyone had the same thing, what can be done about it?
  9. probably wrong website but what the hell. i was with my ex for 4 years. she built me up made me more confident despite my acne. she left me for a guy at work. i had zero confidence then met my new girl, she's been what gets me through the day most of the time. it's been 6 months but on the weekend i found out she's been cheating on me. don't know what to do, don't know what to say. don't want to eat don't want to sleep don't want to talk don't want to go to work. i'm numb. what a fucking life.
  10. I think if acne wasn't an issue for me, i'd have a full life, going to lots of places and doing lots of things. Here are some examples of the things i want to do but i feel my skin stops me ( 1) swimming - I don't wanna go swimming cos a. it could make my skin worse and b. the chlorine makes your spots glow red and look more obvious! 2) mountain biking - i'm a keen mountain biker but now i always think the helmet will rub against my skin too much. 3) going out in the sun - i don't wanna make
  11. And why didn't you say, "You really should learn TACT."
  12. Just a quickie but something i've wondered for ages, does anyone know exactly why you breakout initially when on accutane?
  13. Well i'm two weeks into taking 20mg per day and can't really say i've noticed anything, but does anyone after 2 weeks? my lips are definitely dry but that's about all side effect wise. i'm dreading this initial breakout thing but it's hard to tell if it's started, i'm still waking up every morning with 5 or 6 spots that weren't there the day before but that's nothing new for me. i'm hoping this is the initial breakout! lol. i get my blood tests done next week, which i'm quite worried about bec
  14. how can you tell if a cyst has become infected? and what are the risks of this? this cyst i have hurts like hell but it 'stings' rather than feeling 'tender'. it feels more like a cut with a deep stinging sensation. is that normal? should i go and get it checked out instead of just sitting here hoping it settles down?
  15. can you get a cyst drained by a regular doctor or does it have to be done by a dermatologist?
