  1. I like the Crystal. It's a natural deodorant, but can still be found at most stores/pharmacies. It now comes in roll-on or spray. It doesn't stop you from sweating, but you absolutely will not stink. I used to have to switch deodorants every 6 months because my body would get used to a brand and it'd stop working. I've been using the Crystal for 3 years now.
  2. I know this doesn't help and you weren't asking for compliments, but you are really beautiful. Good luck on finding a solution!
  3. I believe that diet does play a HUGE role in health issues like acne, however, I also believe that for some people the damage is in our genes and that proper eating and diet will not solve our problems. I have tried many many crazy diets in my life to rid myself of acne. All to no avail, which is why I decided that while my acne is in my genes and cannot be fixed no matter how good my diet is, how much I exercise, or how much I meditate. I'm on accutane now and am struggling with depression so
  4. I second this. When my acne was really bad, right before I started Accutane, for some reason I decided that foundation was exacerbating my skin problems so I tried just using powder. At first, I started by doing it on the weekends until I gradually got more comfortable with wearing only powder around other humans. It really did make a difference. I noticed that some of the clogged pores stayed clogged rather than erupting into a cyst.
  5. I've had a few BARELY visible clogged pores recently and squeezing them was such a bad decision --> even though they came out easily. My skin is so fragile that the results were visible for about a week. I really have nothing to complain about, but still... I find myself complaining. The end is almost near. Keep your chin up.
  6. For the dry lips... Here's what I've been doing and it works really well for me--> Put on A TON of Aquaphor on your lips before bed. In fact, I keep a tube of it at my bedside to put on in case I wake up dry, which is almost never now that I've been doing it awhile. My lips are still slightly dry, but definitely waaaay better than before.
  7. Sorry to hear about your bro. That blows. About breaking out again... I know it's hard, but you have to remember that this is temporary. It might feel permanent because right now everyday is torture, but it really is temporary. Keep the faith. I might not be updating my log, but I still stop by and check on yours. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that very soon you will wake up with no new spots!
  8. Awww Kel. Sorry to hear things are going so terribly. Hang tight. It WILL get better.
  9. Mandy, I would definitely get a second opinion. I have seen your pics and heard your descriptions. This isn't acne. Go in there and MAKE them listen to you. If they don't listen to you, then I would tell them, in an authoratative voice... "Look this is a real issue for me and I feel that you aren't taking this seriously". I know when I was younger I had a hard time being forceful, but that's just how you have to be. Maybe you've already done that, in which case, well, I don't know what to say
  10. Day 30 I haven't been updating, because, well, there isn't much to update. Any initial side effects I had are gone except for the dry lips, but even those are alot better since I got Aquaphor. I went to the derm today. She had planned to bump me to 60mg next month since that's apparently what I'm supposed to end up on given my weight, but she went ahead and bumped it now since I'm not having any problems. I was a little worried about my labs since I haven't been adhering to the no alcohol ru
  11. Mandy, Good to hear that your side effects are minimal. I hope that your red/purple marks are the kind that fade away with time. I'm in my early 30s and while I'm unhappy with some of my [VERY minimal] scarring, I'm actually quite surprised at how little of it there is given my past severity. I think that most of it is in my head. For a looong time, I thought I had ice-pick scarring. Turns out I really didn't. It's just that I've had acne so long that I didn't really know what normal skin looke
  12. Day 16 I'm itchy and it's annoying, especially because I'm mostly itchy on face. I just went in the bathroom and noticed that there are a ton of blackheads on my chin [you can't see them, they're way under the skin]. I know most people would be horrified about that, but I'm SUPER excited! I've had symptoms like tiredness and itchiness, but I don't know if I'm actually experiencing those symptoms or if it's a figment of imagination because I know those are known side effects of Accutane. The po
  13. Have you considered Accutane? It is used to treat persistent acne that hasn't responded to antibiotics or topicals and isn't restricted to use for severe acne.
