  1. Finally after years of trying to find a decent GP who would refer me to Dr Chu I saw him on Thurs Nov 1st 07. Dr Chu is a really nice man. He had a good look at my skin. I'll tell you what he said after abit of background. I'm 41 now and have had acne from age 21. When i was 21 I saw my Gp at the time. He was crap and told me it would clear up by itself. I was shy, stupid and timid and did not know what else to do so I carried on using makeup to cover up. When I was 26 I moved town, got away fr

  3. really pleased for you hobbo.. I heard that the best routine for keeping acne at bay is: 1.acnisal - twice a day - leave on for few mins 2.some sort of wash/ cream with glycolic in it - leave for few mins 3. on the spot benzoyl peroxide id needed for real stubborn spots 4. good moisturiser with spf and perhaps some retinol in it I'm still looking for a good glycolic cream/wash/gel and a good moisturiser with retinol in it. Any ideas?
  4. I get acnisal from John Bell and Croydon pharmacy tel:Tel:020 7935 5555 costs about £7 ish I think you can get it on presription as well but I haven't bothered. It can be a bit drying but it really has helped to keep my blackheads and congestion at bay. My skin has much less bumps underneath since using this. I use teice a day, leave it on for few mins before washing off. I find this in conjunction with Neutorgena oil free moisturiser helps a lot. Hope this helps
  5. I use acnisal facial wash. it has 2% salycylic acid in it. It really helps to keep my blackheads and under skin congestion at bay.
  6. I also went to see my GP yesterday and asked for a private referral. I didn't have the fax number with me but gave him the secretaries number etc. I hope he gets the letter done soon.

  8. 1.Has anyone had fraxel by Rita Rakus in the UK? 2.Can someone tell me if you get Hypopigmentation on asian skin?
  9. I was at the gym today and saw a poster about this in the salon. It says it helps scarring and rosecea?
  10. I am trying to decide whether to make an appt to see Dr Rita Rakus about fraxel. I have been on this site and others and feel overwhelmed with info! Please can someone answer the following or point me in right direction: 1. Is fraxel ok for asian skin? 2. what is the downtime/ redness like? thanks in advance x
  11. you know what.. I'm 40 now.. and i didn't get acne until I was 21.. and I do so remember the carefree times I used to have.. all the time! I do so often still think how my life would have been so different if hadn't got cystic acne all over my cheeks at the age of 21. I have never gotten over the unfairness of it!. i don't want to wallow but I can't help it.. I made so many different choices because of how I felt.. how ugly I felt! I din't enjoy going out anymore.. i couldn't go on holiday with
  12. I'm not very good at saying the right thing. I know how you feel. It just seems unfair. Sometimes when i am really down I start saying positive affirmations to myself over and over again. I've read that it helps change your mood state and also you can manifest your own destiny! I AM beautiful.. I have lovely skin.. I AM beautiful.. I have lovely skin!!! I'm picturing myself how I'd like to see my skin! Maybe I will find a way for it to happen!
  13. Yesterday I managed to pluck up the courage to se the gp. I wanted to get a referral to see Dr Chu. That was my main aim for the visit. He has agreed to do it but only on a private referral not nhs. I cried my eyes out as soon I mentioned my skin! He has prescribed me oxytetracycline. I don't know whether to try this. It sems like hard work to try and have it on an empty stomach! Food is my comfort and I tend to snack all day so I don't often have a totally empty stomach! Also I don't see th
