  1. Hey! Yeah I definitely think seeing a new derm is the answer. From what I have read, it seems that Accutane is the best thing you can do for chronic, life-ruining skin problems. But I also know that Accutane is a last-resort-type-medication. So it's possible that your derms don't think your skin is bad enough to warrant it, and I can't say I disagree, based on the pix you posted! I do completely understand how debilitating it can be to feel like everyone is looking at your pores. And I def
  2. I think I am going to start trying to exfoliate with a washcloth as well, that seems like a good idea. Also, thanks for the response! Glad to know I'm not the only one going through this 2-month-hump, which definitely seems to be stress-related. Yikes, this must be some serious stress, lol. I haven't gotten any new zits in the last 2 days and the ones there are drying up, thanks to BP. I'll update again soon...
  3. oh and i have posted pix of my progress and this new breakout on my profile page. feel free to check them out and/or comment if you can help!!
  4. Hey guys, it has been a long time since I posted, but I usually come on here when I'm having a problem (nothing like a foul weather friend, right? and I am definitely having problems right now. I don't mean to alarm all you hopeful BHA users...I am still hopeful...but the word "purge" is taking on a whole new meaning for me right now. I have been in Paula's 2% BHA for just under 2 mos. At the beginning I saw improvement, then there was a purge (whiteheads), followed by improvement, then a na
  5. hey, i went through this exact same thing on BHA. Actually i'm still going through it now. Starting the second week I started getting those damn white bumps. I know exactly what you're talking about. At first I assumed they were just clogs coming to the surface and I let them be. But they NEVER go away. They're practically as bad as the clogged pore itself...maybe worse? So finally I tried to pop a few and let me tell you...BIG MISTAKE. They become red and inflamed and look 1000 times wo
  6. Hey Jake, I am so sorry about the way you are feeling. First of all I definitely agree with the people who said the nose in that pic is not NEARLY as bad as you may think. It's better than what mine looks like, I swear on my life. Also, it sounds like you should definitely get microdermabrasion or whatever expensive spa treatment can help you. I have a feeling that you don't look nearly as bad as you think you do, but if it upsets you *SO* much that you are about to lose your job, then it i

    My recent breakout :(

After almost 2 mos. on 2% BHA this is what is happening :( :(
  8. I know you don't want to use powder, but would you be opposed to trying a mattifying lotion? I know you've been to Paula's website and she has a couple of mattifying gels and moisturizers. Theyre not tinted so it's not really makeup, just a moisturizer that leaves an un-shiny, almost powder-like finish. I use them because I have ridiculously oily skin and even by the time I'm done putting the BHA on, my face already looks shiny from the BHA liquid! It works pretty well, but you may have to r
  9. Hey! Congrats to you BeautifulDay as you must be a proud university graduate by now! In must less exciting news, I am now on my 14th day of BHA. My time line seems to be progressing a little bit slower than yours. The first week, I experienced an initial brightening of my skin, and more even skin tone, just as you reported. In week 2 I did not notice much change at all and began to wonder if the product was having an effect. Then, towards the end of week 2, I started to notice my pores l
  10. Paula's Choice doesn't put any "filler" in their products either. That's the whole *entire* point of her skin care line: to be completely dye-free, fragrance-free, and filler-free, unlike drug store products. The grape seed and green tea leaf extract are anti-inflammatories that make your skin less likely to become red, dry, or itchy from using the beta hydroxy ACID you're putting on it. I know that because Paula's website lists every ingredient in every product with a parentheses after the n
  11. DEFINITELY paula's choice 2% BHA. You can buy it at www.cosmeticscop.com. It is amazing. Probably the only thing that *actually* works on blackheads. Also, for scarring, check out www.greencream.com. This stuff is expensive, but if you can afford it, it's worth the money. Basically it speeds up skin's regeneration process about 6x. It's really incredible. In fact, this is just a theory, but I'm pretty sure this stuff is how people like anthony hopkins and heather locklear look about 30 y
  12. Hey Jake, What kind of BHA are you using? You should check out BeautifulDay's BHA log. It is in the blackheads forum. She details her progress using Paula's Choice 2% BHA lotion from Day 1 to Day 23+ It took her 8 days to see initial results, and 23 days to see major results. It's very inspiring. The stuff is doing its job, don't worry, and stick with it! PS, I'm on day 9 using BHA and my overall skin tone looks much better but up close the pores and blackheads aren't moving much. But I
  13. Hey hun! Aww, I feel bad, I haven't even signed onto my log in like 2 weeks because I've been so insanely bogged down w/ school $h!t!! Yay!! I'm so happy to have a friend in the fight! I'm sorry it's taken me sooo long to respond, but the good news is that I actually have some progress to report I actually got my Green Cream order 1st since PC unfortunately takes so long to ship. And even though I think you're probably 100% right about not starting 2 new products at one time, I absol
  14. Hey Andrew, I don't have the same acne or acne treatment background as you (I'm mostly here to figure out how to clear up severely clogged pores--and I have gotten some great advice and hope I am on the way to clear skin:) lol these boards are great!), but ANYWAY, one of the products we swear by in the "blackheads" forum are Paula's Choice products. And the last time I ordered from PC I picked up her Close Comfort Shave Gel and this awesome aspirin-based spray that she has for post-shaving irr
