  1. I'm on Adoxa 100 mg twice daily. I've been on that dosage for 2.5 wks and I've also been using Rosanil cleanser, Duac, and Tazorac. After 4 days I could already notice a difference, and now I'm almost 100% clear. I think the biggest thing is to use a cleanser with an active ingredient. I used Purpose/Cetaphil for a span of four months and throughout that time I continuously broke out. Regards.
  2. I've had mild acne for about 5 years, never really got bad, had a few flare ups every now and then, but around December I got about four or five cysts on my chin, from there it spread to my jawline, then my cheeks. For the past five months my skin had looked like crap. During that time I was using Differin at night, BenzaClin in the morning, 100 mg Minocycline 2x daily, and washing with Purpose products. I also moisturized w/Cetaphil and Eucerin. Two and a half weeks ago I went back to the d
  3. I've been reading about people using some cleansers containing SA. I think I'm going to try one, but my question is which one should I try? From what I've read, Clean and Clear Blackhead, Aveeno Foaming Cleanser, and the Neutrogena Face Scrub. Can anyone recommend one of these over the others? Thanks, J
  4. Hi, I've been reading the boards and using the regimen for a while and have come across some posts saying that when people start using less stuff on their face, they've had better resuslts. I'm wondring if this is true. Currently, I apply benzaclin and moisturizer in the AM, again after I workout in the afternoon, and apply Differin and moisturizer before bed. I'm wondring if this is too much. Any suggestions?

  7. lokipr, it could be possible; however do not count on it. All antibiotics with the suffix "cycline" are derivatives of a common drug. Therefore, if the bacteria becomes resistant to one form, it will most likely be resistant to otherforms, however it is not always the case. I had used Doryx for a while, seemed to work OK, swtiched to Mino, and it worked better. The mino quit working after about 1-1.5 years. Try it out, you won't know til you try.
  8. malia pretty much nailed it. It's simple actually. Naturally, there are some forms of the p. acnes bacteria that are resistant to antibtiotics. When one starts using the antibiotics, it kills all the bacteria that's not resistant, leaving just the resistant bacteria to replicate. That's why antibiotics usually quit working. Pretty soon, all the remaining bacteria is resistant.
  9. How long have you been using the Benzaclin and Differin? I ask because I've been using the D. and BC. for almost a month now and it has made me break out really bad until this point. It looks like it's starting to finally clear up. The breakout from the Differin was pretty damn bad, tons of whiteheads in all my problem areas but it looks like its starting to go away.
  10. I didn't like Zn when I was on it. I think it made me breakout more because I took it with Magnesium and B6 as a bodybuilding supplement called ZMA. It increases testosterone levels and I quit taking it recently to see if that was causing the problem. I will post an update in about 3 weeks to say if that was a problem.
  11. Has anyone here had success using H2O2? I've read that it causes free radical damage, therefore several do not use it, however any peroxide will cause free radical damage, including benzoyl peroxide. That being said, is it a good product to use to kill bacteria? Thanks, J
  12. Differin sucked for me. I started on it about 4 years ago and used it for about two years. Didn't help too much. Started on it again about 3 months ago thinking it would help, still didn't do anything except give me dry skin and whiteheads.
  13. Lactic acid is not made from milk. I've gone over that stuff thousands of times in numerous biology courses. There are three forms of cellular respiration and lacitc acid fermentation is one of them. It accumulates as a byproduct of glycolysis in the absense of oxygen (anaerobic respiration). The sugar (eg. glucose, pentose, lactose) breaks down in glycolysis, and the absense of oxygen produces lactic acid. I don't know where y'all keep getting lactic acid comes from milk, because it is als
  14. Actually, lactic acid is not derived from milk. It's a byproduct of anaerobic respiration.
  15. Has anyone, on their initial breakout, while using Differin, experienced lots of whiteheads? I seem to be getting like 3 or 4 new whiteheads everyday. I've only been on the stuff for 3 weeks.
