  1. hey, what about putting hydrocortisone on the dry areas at night or in the morning when you're not using the bp. I have bad excema on my hands and the pham. told me that it's the strongest stuff you can get without a perscription.
  2. Shady, I whole-heartedly know what your going through because I'm battling it right now as well. While advice like Rossignol's is provided with the best of intentions it doesn't come close to addressing the desperation you feel. The problem isn't the acne it's your loss of faith in yourself. Let me guess, you constantly berate yourself and its gotten to the point were you no longer believe you deserve to be happy. In fact, happiness is like a far off dream. I've been there and it's taken the l
  3. Yes, I had the same problem. My acne is clear at the moment, but I went through the same thing. One product I found relatively effective to use with dry skin was acnormal, which you can but at Wal-Mart. Cetiphil wash is definitely the way to go and you may want to try aleo vera gel. I only started to use that a couple of weeks ago, but it hasn't irratated my skin at all and I've noticed my red marks are fading too.
  4. Hey, had the exam this morning. It went okay, but I didn't study enough for it. I usually do really well in psych, just been having a bitch of a semester this time round. Last exam is on Wednesday, and my birthday is Thursday, so Wednesday night's gonna be a massive blow out
  5. So I have a psych final tomorrow and I'm pulling an all-nighter. I'm really having trouble staying focused on the material, so I figured I'd come on here and share so information with all you lovely people. I think it relates well to a lot of us with acne Learned Helplessness First observed in animals who recieved uncontroable electric shocks, learned helpless is a tendency found in people who have been placed in uncontrolable situations to generalize their experience to other areas of th
  6. Hey, I just bought a bottle of Aloe Vera gel and I'm just wondering how long before I start to see results? Also I bought 'The Fruit of the Earth', just wondering if anyone as used it and if they found it effective. Thanks.
  7. I have this problem has well. My paranoia has decreased a great deal over the last 3-4 weeks, as my skin is all but clear of active acne, but its not hard to tell that I did have acne. Today,I was at the mall eating supper and I noticed a girl about my age (21) looking at me. I did the look back, look away thing, expecting her to drop her gaze , but she just continued to stare at me. The first thing that ran through my mind was, "It's called acne, move the f#*k on" Its funny because I don't e
  8. Miladycarol I love your signature. I use to watch that show everyday.
  9. I also have red marks, but I haven't yet tried anything on them. Currently, I am using Cetaphil face wash, so if I were to pick up a Alpha Hydroxy Acid wash would it replace the Cetaphil or should I use the two products together?
  10. Had moderate acne, but now its mild, thank God. Still have lots of red marks on my checks and upper right check bone.
  11. I need some advice and this is the only place I can think to get it, so bear with me. I was going to post this over in the lounge, but my acne is a factor in all of this, so I'm going to post it here. Has anyone here allowed there acne to rob them of a rewarding intimate relationship? For me, acne is only part of the problem, but it sure didn't help. Last year, a long time friend and I started to explore the possibility of a romantic relationship. Actually, we had always flirted with eachother,
  12. Dove soap is not as unforgiving on your skin as other soaps, but I find using Cetaphil face wash to be more effective. I used Dove soap for months and it did decrease the number of outbreaks I had, but it did not stop them, Cetaphil did
  13. Don't be so hard on yourself. The majority of acne suffers do the same thing. Don't beat yourself up, its okay to slip, you wouldn't be human if you didn't.
  14. Hey Crooked I Yes it does, but I was sick of typing, so I figured I'd add them in later, sorry for leaving you hanging. 1. Talk back to your internal critic. A sense of worthlessness is created by your internal self-critical dialogue. It is self degrasding statements, such as 'I'm no damn good' , 'I'm ugly' etc. that create and feed your feelings of despair and poor self-esteem. In order to overcome this bad mental habit you need to do three things a) Train yourself to recognize and writ
