maybe try grinding it into a powder? Or buy a drain screen and just clean it out when you're done.

I agree with the low carb results. 4 months ago I started seeing a nutritionist who recommended not eating wheat, dairy, soy, corn, or refined sugar and my skin is much less oily, inflamed and congested. It wasnt an overnight change and I still notice ups and downs depending on exactly what I'm eating and how much, but overall my skin looks much cleaner. can you give examples of your meals? I know the right foods but I have issues putting g meals together. I know the question wasn't dire

Can I Have Acne From High Progesterone Levels?
Purplestove replied to lisa13455's topic in General acne discussion
I believe there are bcp that are low progesterone, though I've never tried them. Just ortho, which sucked. My skin has the same issues, it's always a mess during the 2nd half of my cycle. My doctor mentioned that I may have pmdd, for which he suggested antidepressants. I've read good things about chaste berry and b6 so I'm starting there. The chaste berry is supposed to balance your hormones and I believe the b6 is supposed to relax you and increase serotonin levels. I'm also taking maca root -
That's great! Congrats!

Possible link between hormonal acne and endometriosis?
Purplestove replied to Purplestove's topic in Hormonal acne
According to my blood results,my hormones are fine. My doctor said my symptoms point to PMDD (basically severe PMS) and said antidepressants work really well for it. It's like a sensitivity to changing hormones (which explains why ortho tri cyclin broke me out worse than ever). The symptoms I've seen online typically include acne. Do you guys think antidepressants will help my skin? He recommended either Prozac or Celexa. -

Possible link between hormonal acne and endometriosis?

So I'm extremely anxious so I apologize in advance for my lack of helpful information, but I should be getting my results back for my blood and salvia hormone tests by early next week. The doctor was very reassuring, letting me know that if my hormones are normal there are a few other things that are linked to endo, acne and mood swings that are not hormone related. He didn't develge much on that, just said we'll see what the test says. -
What kind of scars are these? And am i doing it wrong?

I've spent a few years ignoring how my uneven skin actually looks. I take care of it, keep it clean, but I haven't really looked at my pores and marks closely until recently. Its driving me batshit! I know I've still got a long road ahead, but so far, I've gotten a couple of jessner peels (planning on at least 6), a microderm, and I also plan on using a dermaroller starting next month (if it doesn't break me out for my test patch). Anyway, does anyone know what these scars are and if I'm o -

Possible link between hormonal acne and endometriosis?

So I tried maca root and swear that the lowest dosage calmed my skin, and also gave me some insomnia. And after just over a month, the insomnia got better and the acne came back. My hormones have been extra crazy lately for no apparent reason. And guess what follows? Greasy inflamed skin. So I finally ordered my saliva hormone test for estrogen dominance (just tests estrogen and progestrone) that I will be taking between day 18 and 21 of my cycle - always when my acne and emotions go hayw -
Jessner peels/microderm; should i combine?
Purplestove replied to Purplestove's topic in Scar treatments
So I had a microderm between my scheduled monthly peels. The process was very relaxing (go figure) and my skin did feel much cleaner for a few days after, but that clean feeling didn't last nearly as long as it's felt after my last few peels. After a few more peels I'll probably get a micropeel (microderm + 7% jessner peel), but I prefer the peels. Hopefully they smooth out my skin, but regardless I think they've been helping clean up my clogged pores. Cheers. -
Water fasting + vitamin/Enzyme Therapy for scarring
Purplestove replied to JustJon's topic in Scar treatments
I commend your dedication but I'm not sure if the fasting will help with much more than decreasing oil production temporarily and allow you to weed out food insensitivies as you reintroduce solids again. A few years ago I did a 26 day juice fast (about a gallon of fresh squeezed juice from beets, carrots, celery, ginger, garlic- eveything good. I took msm and serrapeptase supplements to aid in collagen and "desolval" of scar tissue. My skin felt cleaner after, but absolutely no scar improvement. -
I just had my 2nd Jessner peel last week and this time I didn't peel or really flake. I did notice that I shed a very fine layer (i was dry and "scaley" day 4). My esthetician told me that if I'd ever like something slightly more aggresive she could do a Vitalize peel or perform microderm immediately before a Jessner peel. I'm considering the microderm before the Jessner, but I'm not sure if that would be too much for my skin. I had microderm once about 2 years ago and my skin tolerated it fine

I recently have been noticing my skin getting less oily (from almost 10 oil-blotter sheets a day to about 4), but it's hard to pinpoint what's doing it cause I changed a few things recently. I've been drinking 2 concoctions per day of water with lemon juice and msm powder and taking maca root. I also started using a mix of aloe vera and msm powder as a toner 2x daily. I thought it was also from being extra healthy lately (green smoothies, salads, fresh veggies, etc) but I had my wisdom teeth p
