  1. Hi all. I have an upcoming appt with my derm to discuss methods to reduce the acne scarring on my face. They are one of the best derms in my region and I have gone to them several times over the course of my 12 year battle with acne. For the past several months I have been clear thanks to the regimen on this site and OTC products bought at a local pharmacy. I also forced myself to make "painful" dietary changes a few months ago including eating more vegetables, no dairy, drinking almond milk
  2. Wow. I just watched a video about a boy with a very bad skin condition. Honestly, watching and hearing what he said has helped put things in perspective for me concerning how much I am worried about my acne scarring... http://on.aol.ca/video/butterfly-boys-skin-falls-off-with-the-slightest-touch-519000766
  3. I think that any of us who suffers from moderate to severe acne and scarring can use some optimistic thinking. Sometimes, this involves putting things in perspective. I certainly am not trying to ignore the fact that we do suffer because of our condition. In one of my other threads, I made a short list of 5 conditions that I would never trade severe acne/later scarring for. Honestly if I had one of those conditions, I would not know how I could live... However, people with those conditions
  4. bump I am interested in your opinions concerning the stuff in the first post. Over time, I worry less and less about how my past severe acne and present scarring affect my life. I honestly do not care about 95% of people think, do, believe, etc. As long as they don't directly infringe on my rights and personal space, then whatever... What has helped me come to this state of mind over the past several months is the following belief. I first want to say that I do not want to offend anyon
  5. From experience I can tell you that it is seemingly impossible. That is the reason I wrote the post the way I did. Also, I did talk about exceptions in that post. Well there is always exceptions to things, so it's not saying much. You seem to be categorizing everyone as the way you see them, while the truth is people aren't *this way* or *that way* just because you've seen some who are. People have complex opinions, and thoughts on things that falls into a spectrum. You're argument of "never w
  6. Hi, I understand what you are going through. Though I haven't noticed other people's behaviors as you described, I have noticed "abnormal" reactions that some strangers have when seeing my face. Below is an excerpt of my first post in another thread: ************************* There are two very troubling (in my mind) behaviors/reactions that I have noticed other people (strangers) do when they see my for the first time: 1: Women will pull their blouse or shirt closed in a manner of cov
  7. Hi all. I just joined after reading threads on this site for a few months. I will be turning 30 in a few months and will give a very brief summary of my acne battle for the past 15 yrs: Junior year of high school was when I really started breaking out with cystic acne on my face, neck, back, and some spots on my upper chest. After trying the usual antibiotics and topicals, my derm put me on Accutane. The course of accutane cleared up everything, but was not a permanent cure. What the firs
