  1. Accutane can take a while to work. I was on it 2 years ago and got real lucky. It started working within the first month. By the end of month 2, my face was 90% cleared. I think it was during month 3 that my skin 'purged' and everything that was in my pores just fell out. $20 is exactly what I paid. However, this was NOT how much it cost. Have the policy holder of your insurance company call and see how much they picked up. Health insurance is a luxury not everyone has. I am sure at s
  2. While I was on accutane I used cleansers for the first week or two. Trust me, once it kick in you will not want to touch them for the remainder of your course. Get Aquaphor, Carmex, and Blistex medicated balm. Also, try different moisturizers and see what works best. Make sure they are noncomendongenic before you guy them. Aveno Active Naturals Positively Radiant worked wonders for me.
  3. Get ready, man. Creams are 'icky' and inconvenient but having chapped lips and dealing with the other side effects that come with this drug is no party. Trust me, its worth it. Id take it every day for the rest of my life if I had to. Best of luck to you.
  4. I didnt see anything until about 1-2 weeks into it. Be patient, it takes some people months before they see results.
  5. No, I didnt have a noticeable IB. I wouldnt worry.
  6. Good to hear you are doing well. Arent you glad you stuck with it?
  7. Awesome progress. And as for the coverage: Some insurance companies are odd when it comes to covering certain drugs. While I was lucky and paid $10 for mine, my mother insurane REFUSES to cover any bills from our doctor relating to my brothers ADHD.
  8. You should put up a post in the pre and post tane thread. Your progress was the best I have seen on this website. Congrats on everything.
  9. Dry on the second day? Oh man! Oh well, at least you know its working. Best of luck to you.
  10. My derm says that they normally keep you on one more month AFTER you are clear. It just depends on when that is. Took me 5 months.
  11. There is no right answer for you here. I never got an IB. For others, the IB came and stuck around for a month. Also, I saw the benefits of accutane within the first 2 weeks, its takes up to 3 months for other people. Look around on the boards and check out other people accutane logs. They will be very helpful and will give you an idea of what to expect and when. The only universal side effect seems to be very dry lips and dry skin on and around the face. Other than that, just go with it and if
  12. To answer your aquaphor question: Healing Ointment. I found that Blistex Medicated balm works well during the day wheb you lips cant be greasy. As for other tips, just be ready for anything. Accutane does different things to everyone. Dont be afraid to come to the people on this board for help. If its happening to you, it has happened to someone else here before. I promise. Best of luck to you.
  13. I was concerned about my acne coming back and I think my derm could tell. She told me its a minimum of 2 months before you can start another course and its recommended you wait longer. (I will be off my parents medical coverage within the year and she said that I could get in atleast one more course if need be). Anyways, I wouldnt worry. I have seen 2 pimples in the month and a half I have been off accutane and they have both gone away within the week. Neither were cysts. Best of luck to you.
  14. Many people dont see results until near the end of their treatment. Im sure you can find logs on ehhre where people dont see any improvement until month 3. While my face was nearly 100% clear by the end of my first month, I didnt see any results at all on my back until the beginning of month 4. Keep it up, this stuff really does work.
