  1. It's been almost three months since I did my last post regarding the TCA CROSS. I did consider doing it but decided not to in the end. I made an appointment with another derm to get a second opinion. Well, it seems luck was on my side since I've been seeing more improvement. I ended up getting a punch excision on a deep icepick and some subcisions on most of my scars; the doc told me we would do follow ups with 3 TCA peels starting 5 weeks after the "minor surgery" and spaced one month apart. Wh
  2. Hi Everyone, I've been considering performing TCA CROSS myself because it seems none of the doctors down here offer it as a localized option. I've read about in on the message boards but I have a question regarding the percentage of TCA. Some say 100% is the best way to go, but I've read same results can be achieved using a 50% solution. As far as the technique I still have to read. I have had erbium:YAG resurfacing before and it did improve my scars, but the time gap between treatments is not
  3. Hello everyone, First of all I owe a huge apology to those who have read my post. I've been gone for 4+ months and didn't notice the time flying by. I promised an update and it's been a long time. I also had some computer problems and had to get a new one while the other one is being repaired. Anyway, as far as the laser treatment, it's been a while and the skin returned to its normal color a month and a half ago. It gets a light pink shade if I'm in the sun for too long or whenever
  4. Hey everyone, it's been a while since I've been on these message boards, but I did get to read this post when it originated. As soon as I left the office that day, I stopped by the K-mart and bought the medium sized bottle of H&S. I can't believe how much it worked on clearing body acne. I use it everytime I shower and also wash my face with it. I didn't follow the exact instructions though. At night, I would dry with a towel and then I would apply the shampoo as if using cream. A few days l
  5. Mirrors are strange, but the light tends to have an even greater force. Which is why I keep the light bulbs on top of the mirror off at all times. I've heard on car windows being the worst reflection you can get. I'd take the car window reflection over the bathroom mirror anytime!
  6. Hi Michelle, When I was looking into which kind of laser to use, I did a lot of research on the internet. I came across this article and it did clear up a few questions. http://www.skintherapyletter.com/2004/9.1/2.html As for me, I got Erbium:Yag resurfacing done about two weeks ago. It's hard to tell if the results will be good or not when the skin is pinkish/red. The test area I did first does show improvement. A small indent from a former eyebrow piercing is still visible. My personal advi
  7. Hi The same thing happened to me when a cyst was injected with cortisone. You may be experiencing fat atrophy on the spot where the cortisone was injected. They usually go away by themselves because it's not a scar. The time frame varies from person to person but give it at least 3 months to notice a difference. My indent was on the jawline and within 4 months everything went back to normal. Good luck LabGirl!
  8. I carefully read this thread, and the idea of drinking rock juice doesn't seem too outrageous. I'm just confused as to the actual process and the type of rocks to use too. The idea of having to go through breakouts again is the part I'm not too fond of. Zippo, I'm from TX too
  9. Hi Everyone, It's been 7 days since the last update on my experience with laser. This past friday I went back to the derm and finished the rest of the areas I didn't like, the cheeks, the temples, and about one inch above the jawline. I was inside the doctor's office for an hour; the assistant told me no one has ever taken this long because most of the patients can't stand the mild pain. This time I did ask for topical anesthesia, but it burns like crazy once they re-apply it after the first l
  10. I've been trying to find information on Acne Free Scar Eraser and I'm curious as to where can I buy it. On the old thread Testosterone mentioned getting it from Wal-Mart. ss14, where did you get yours from? Thanks for the tip! Oops.. I just noticed the link to the page. They carry those products at Wal-Mart and Target. I'm getting some laser later today, so I think I'll march over to Target on saturday. For some reason I feel more at ease wearing gauze pads all over my face!
  11. It's amazing how much scars can affect the way we feel about ourselves. I, for example, always knew I had some scars, but never worried about them. Everything changed when one good night my friend and I were talking about skin problems; I took a good look in the mirror and boom! Everything changed within 5 minutes; I lost every single ounce of self confidence I had in the following days. It seems as if everytime I take a look in the mirror there's something I never noticed before. One day I saw
  12. Hi Jodie, I've been doing some research on lasers, and yes, I did mention CO3 on my first post. The CO3 is the commercial brand for an Erbium:YAG laser by Cynosure. From what I read and hear from doctors. The CO3 combines the best of both both lasers, CO2 and Erbium:YAG, into the CO3. I'm not sure as to who offers it in Canada, but I assume you could go by the manufacturer. Ask doctors who offers a Cynosure CO3 laser. A few moments ago I noticed some spots of skin are going back to their nat
  13. Hey everyone, just giving you an update now that I've reached the week and a half mark. The laser treated skin is slightly pink and has a weird texture, almost as paper. Anyway, as far as the results, it didn't get rid of my varicella scars, which was a given because of their nature. It did, however, erase the pockmarks I had on the area and some scarred pores seem to be a lot smaller. I know I will not be able to see the full results until the skin goes back to its natural color, which I guess
  14. Hey Guys. I went to the doctor this past friday and got the first Erbium:YAG/CO2 laser combination done on one area of my face (along the temple following the hairline, C-shaped). Of course I told the doctor no anesthesia so the first pass felt like rubber bands snapping, and the second one felt more like burning. So far it's been two days, the area is very red and the scabs are starting to form. I'm using an anti-bacterial ointment and a gauze pad for a few days. As far as the results it's kind
  15. Hey Dan, Thanks for the info. Regarding my skin, I have type II skin, which burns most of the time but never tans, not even when I'm wearing tanning lotion. Overall, my skin has the same tone all over my face. My scars are very shallow and I have to be 1 1/2 feet from the mirror for me to actually see them under certain types of light. I also noticed some of them were not scars but enlarged pores. I do have 4 or 5 huge scars left from a very bad case of varicella when I was kid, but those ne
