  1. I absolutely agree!! I always had oily skin and the more crap I put on it the oiler it got. Once I went to Pupose soap once a day (or after sweating a lot) then Dan's moisturizer with Dan's BP applied only at night the oil production has dropped off dramatically. Your results may vary but I do feel there is a reason the skin produces excess oil and that's because it "thinks" it's dry....
  2. Same excact thing for me.....nose and forehead. The purpose soap is great and then I use Dan's moisturizer. That is by far the least greasiest and smoothest applying stuff I've ever seen. No breakouts with it whatsever. Soaks right in and you can't even tell it's there. I do think there is a lot of truth in the theory that dry skin will in time become oilier do to the body trying to repair it. By moisturizing where my skin tended to be oily I've noticed a definite reduction in the oil gland outp
  3. In fact, a quick literature review would show you that there HAVE been long-term, controlled studies on low-dose Accutane. In 1993, a study was published reporting the results of a 10mg/day treatment in older adults for the prevention of new basal cell carcinoma. The relevant results were that, compared to placebo, the patients who took isotretinoin had serum triglyceride levels that were statistically significantly higher than those who took placebo; however, the occurrence was still very low
  4. I never break out as bad in the winter so dem and I decided it would be a good time to take break. Been off of it 2 months now and still clear with just mild washing once a day and nothing else. I'm guessing when the warm weather comes back I'll probably be back on it but we'll see. I agree that the low dose is a great way to go. Minimal side effects and the fact that your on it for longer periods of times allows your face to recover from all the years of topicals. Good luck to everyone!!
  5. Did the same thing for nearly 2 years. Got down to as low as 10mg every other day. No side effects and clear skin. Greatest 2 years of my life!! I'm 47 and still fighting it but the low dose accutane was absolutely incredible!!
  6. Sorry....I'm 47 and still fighting it. Accutane has been the only thing that has ever really helped. Went on a low dose of about 10 mg per day for a year and a half. Greatest year and a half of my life!!
  7. My accutane course is winding down so I've been experimenting with 10 mg about every 3rd day. So far seems to be working great. Only topical I use is a 6% BP face wash in the shower every other day. I have very oily skin and now is the best my face has ever been. If things get bad again after stopping Accutane completely I will go for the small dose long term program again just like the one I've been on for the last 18 months.
  8. From one of my earlier posts.......still getting great results on only 10mg/day. I'm 46 and weigh 180. I saw the research about the low dose option and thought it made perfect sense so I gave it try. I was on 20 mg per day for 9 months and continue now on 10 mg per day. Couldn't be happier. Minimal side effects with no breakouts whatsoever as well as the annoying oily skin problems are completely gone. I'm a firm believer in the fact that oil is the root cause and treating the symptoms with to

  10. http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp...amp;catid=21189 http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp...amp;catid=21503 This is all I'm using.....Purpose soap twice a day and Neutrogena oil-free moisture SPF 15 just on the drier areas. I've actually tried it on the areas that seem to have just a little bit of oil and it seems to dry those areas up after a few days. It must help balance the skin and "convince" the oil glands in that area to "relax" and not work so hard.
  11. http://www.acne.org/messageboard/index.php?showtopic=102353 Print this out and show it to your derm. I'm no doctor but from my experience I think the "take the high dose and just get it over with" is B.S. Since I've been on the low dose for a much longer period than my 2 high dosage courses I endured I can tell there is a lot more healing and smoothing going on under the skin. Stopping the oil flow seems to be the key for me. My face has not been in this good of shape since I was about 12. We'

  14. I started my course just as I was turning 39. See my signature. If she is a healthy person and the dr has no concerns, than she should be fine.
  15. ================ Fuzball, great to hear of some good news. Was curious if you're male or female. Seems like females might get more benefit from bs and guggul. I think the earlier thread molcat linked to was from a "chris" who was also female, but I forget now. Plus, the bs and guggul might be actually helping my oil problem at the moment and I'm male. Thx.
