  1. He has perfect skin, so *spreading* acne is not the problem... And it's hard to avoid facial skin-to-skin contact during making out. Oh well - I'll apply lots of bp and think of it as a nice problem to have. )
  2. So, anybody have problems w/ breaking out after you make out with a gf/bf? Skin's been pretty good lately, but I've noticed that after making out w/ my bf, the places where my face have touched his get really irritated, and wannabe pimples try to pop up (and occasionally do). Any tips? I've been applying bp 3x-day after making out to discourage pimples and control the ones that do form, but that's more of a band-aid solution than something that'll actually help in the long run.
  3. Hey, don't sweat it. My boyfriend is 5'6" (my height exactly!) and I think he's sexy as hell. I know height is a sensitive issue for some guys, so I've never brought up the subject with him (it would be like him saying "hey, what's with the acne?")... ...and I'm less of a menace to myself if I don't wear high heels anyway.
  4. I only iced it when it was in the painful, inflamed, growing stage. When it was in that stage, over the space of several hours I: (1) iced it (2) used a warm compress (3) iced it again (4) another warm compress I didn't really have a reason for alternating, though, and I HOPE I won't go through enough nodules to get this down to a scientific method.
  5. GONE! Yay! Now all I have is a bit of reddish discoloration thanks to holding a bare ice cube up against the spot. I'm putting Neosporin on that...I'd give it 2 days to disappear completely, which will make it a week for the whole life cycle.
  6. Hey - I can answer your question pretty well since I've been on both those antibiotics. Minocycline - be careful there because it can discolor your teeth Doxycycline - be careful there, too, because it can make your horrifically nauseous To be honest, I didn't get any good results from either antibiotic, and when I read more about long-term antibiotic use, I stopped them altogether. I really think derms prescribe oral antibiotics too readily. Your first plan of attack should be with topical
  7. Really? I've never even heard of the honey thing. Why does it work? Now my nodule is completely non-inflamed and about half the size it was yesterday. When I was icing it, though, I must have "burned" the skin a bit with the ice, since when I woke up this morning, the top layer of skin in that area was dead. It's still a bit red, but not nearly as bad as it was even yesterday. If it weren't for the redness, it wouldn't even be noticeable, the bump is so small.
  8. So, I'm continuing my routine for the shrimp nodule as described above, except I've stopped icing it. Yesterday morning, it was really awful - horribly painful, growing (eek!), and inflamed. After a little more than a day of my above routine, the pain and inflamation are both gone (yay!). Since it's no longer inflamed, I've stopped icing it. It's a smaller, non-inflamed lump now, but it's still really noticeable and embarrassing. I'm not sure what's going on under the skin, but I think it's
  9. RIGHT...I should add that I'm continuing my routine for the shrimp nodule as described above, except I've stopped icing it. I'm not sure what's going on under the
  10. Dang...does this mean I should go off my fish oil capsules? I hope not - I was really hoping they'd control my horribly oily skin. Actually, though, before losing track of things and stopping, I did a 2x daily fish oil capsule habit for a few weeks this winter, and I KNOW I didn't have this problem then. Is there actually iodine in fish oil capsules?
  11. WOW!! I had the exact same problem with shrimp and posted about it on the severe acne board just yesterday (http://www.acne.org/messageboard/index.php?showtopic=148284). I've also had a reaction to salmon in the past. What's really weird, though, is that I've had shrimp countless times before....just none in the last year or two. I'd also had salmon before with no side effects before I had the reaction. Can you actually develop an allergy to seafood? Anyway, check my thread above for how I
  12. FYI FOR OTHERS UNDER NODULE ATTACK: Since I didn't get any immediate replies, I went through ALL the posts in this forum that have dealt with nodules and found that these were the most recommended solutions for nodules (i.e., hard lumps under the skin, without the puss pockets of cysts): (1) cortisone injection (2) warm water compress (3) icing The cortisone solution was by far the most popular, but since my derm won't be in her office until Monday, I'm going to try #2 and #3 and see what wor
  13. OK, so here's what HASN'T worked: Body Shop tea tree oil.....bad, bad, bad....it just made the nodule larger and MORE irritated. I checked the label, and apparently the second ingredient is alcohol. Tea tree oil doesn't make it in until way down the list. I've also taken: - a multivitamin - a zinc supplement - a fish oil capsule
