  1. Btw, I've been dealing with mild yet PERSISTENT AS HELL acne for 24 years...and I'm going to be 40 in October. I can't tell you how sick to death I am of all this!!
  2. I've been on no-flush niacin (as inositol hexanicotinate) for almost three weeks now, and I'm suddenly beginning to see an improvement. I've also made a recipe I found for applying niacinamide topically that I thought I'd share. I found several links that discussed its use was far more effective when applied topically. I'm on my third day of applying it to my whole face twice a day, and it seems to be working rather quickly! Here's the formula: 2-oz Aloe Vera gel (I'm using Trader Joe's brand,
  3. I've been taking Schiff No-Flush Niacin (500mg) each morning for two weeks now, and I'm not really seeing any improvement yet. My acne is mild but VERY persistent, and has been for 24 years (ugh). I just recently suffered a horrific breakout right before trying niacin, but I'd also made the mistake of traveling for a few days without my topicals. Clearly, this turned out to be a HUGE mistake. Anyway, I can't decide if my regular topicals are repairing the damage or the niacin, or both, or if the
  4. Thanks for sharing this article. I think I might try this one as well. I haven't seen any impressive results from using Carlson's fish oil and eating a healthy diet, that's for sure. I have two active spots on my mouth/lips, one on my chin, and one on my cheek. I'm also drinking two green smoothies a day full of fresh spinach and fruits as well as chugging down a glass of psyllium husk powder in water before bedtime to keep my system flowing. Meanwhile, my face still looks irritated and broken o
  5. Wow, I'm surprised that so many people seem to hate this stuff so much. I've been doing 2 tbsp. of Bragg's ACV three times a day in an 8-oz. glass of water since August. The effects aren't perfect but I do believe it helps. I've also recently begun supplementing with green smoothies, so what I've been doing is getting one of my ACV servings by adding it to the smoothie. There are so many other things in the smoothie that you don't taste it at all - some of you may want to try that if the taste i
  6. Aussie Girl, This is a good post and I really identify with it. I can't say whether or not it's true, but it's a good theory nonetheless. I've often heard that you liver holds every emotion, past and present, and if it's not working optimally, all those emotions hang on and never exit the body. Moreover, I am the exact same personality type as you - I'm excessively hard on myself and I've only recently come to the conclusion (like you) that I don't really love myself the way I should. I always
  7. Thanks for the gram conversion, Toxic. I checked the bottle again and one serving is in fact a teaspoon, not a tablespoon. So it looks like I'll be doing a teaspoon in the morning and one in the evening to get a little over 3g. Calla Lilly, I don't think anyone is saying that the fish oil capsules are "bad." But the liquid might have a better absorption rate and also seems to be more potent than the capsules. Plus the particular brand I bought actually tastes good and has no aftertaste whatsoev
  8. Hi, I'll try to keep this quick since there are millions of posts and a lot of similar questions. I've been using 5200g/d of Borage Oil + 2400g/d of Lecithin with amazing results. My skin cleared within one week's time - I even got daring enough to stop all topicals, and it remained clear! However, the GLA that's so imperative for clearing skin is also an omega-6...something that has taken a lot of heat on this thread. After doing a fair amount of research, it appears that Borage Oil may no
  9. How long have you been taking it and what have your results been like? Personally, I'm not so worried about the depression aspect because I don't suffer from that. I'm worried more about getting cancer or developing dementia or Alzheimer's. Like I'd mentioned, my skin improved immediately following the elimination of dairy products, so the addition of Borage Oil brought me up to 100%. I think I'm already ready to reduce from 5200mg/d to 2600/d and see what happens. What do you know about fis
  10. Well guys, I'm back with really good news. I'm on day 5 of 5200mg Borage Oil/d and 2400mg of Lecithin/d with very clear skin! I have one small pimple on my neck and that's it. I had noticed a big difference initially by eliminating dairy a week before using the oil, so at this point, I don't know if it's the dairy, or the Borage Oil, or both, but in any case, this is fantastic. I got brave enough by day 2 to totally stop topicals. I was using Neutrogena 3-in-1 Hydrating Lotion with fair result
  11. Hi all, I'm on this gravy train too as of this morning. Here's what I bought: Health From The Sun Borage Oil - each pill contains 1300mg of borage oil and 300mg of GLA. I've started with two capsules this morning and will do two more tonight for a total of 5200mg/day. I'm basing this on prior posts that suggest "ramping up" in higher doses initially and then tapering off after a month if I'm getting results. Whole Foods brand Lecithin - each capsule provides 1200mg. One in the morning and on

    Kissing

Does anyone else suffer from a sudden (and very painful) zit after a heavy kissing session? This happens to me quite often and it's really horrible. The zits are usually right on the line where your lips meet the rest of your face, or sometimes even ON my lip itself!! If anyone else is suffering from this problem, have you had any luck preventing this problem in one way or another? The Neutrogena 3-in-1 lotion is very gentle so I put it right on my lip without too much drying taking place...but
  13. I've decided to give this a try as well based on all the positive reviews. I cannot stand the flaking and dryness associated with BP any longer (and lately it's not even working)! So far, I've done one application last night and one this morning and it's definitely very gentle and soothing. The only question I have is that although my skin isn't flaking, the product itself seems to flake a bit. For example, I still use moisturizer over top of it once it dries. As I rub the moisturizer in, the pr
  14. Well, I've been doing this for 6 days with no results. I stopped this morning. I even did it up to 5 and 6 times a day, too. Back to the drawing board...as usual...sigh. Good luck to everyone else trying this.
  15. Hi, Thanks for all the interesting and insightful posts. I've decided to give this a try as well. I started last night. I'm a 37-yo guy who's been dealing with mild acne since the age of 16, and my target area is around my mouth. I've been using Dan's method for 4 years now. I go through periods where it works 100%, but I also go through periods where it doesn't. Even when it works 100%, I just can't tolerate the excessive dryness and scaling associated with BP any longer. Every time I kiss my
