  1. Thank you so much!! Accutane was a real game changer.
  2. I was on Accutane/Claravis for 5 & 1/2 months. It sure didn't feel like it was healing fast, but looking back on it I guess it did go by pretty quickly
  3. Huge thanks to everyone who has followed my journey and helped me along the way. I apologize for disappearing for a while. I have been off Accutane for about 2 months now and haven't had a breakout in forever. I almost forgot how bad my acne was until I looked back at my gallery pictures! WOW! What an incredible difference. TOTALLY WORTH IT!
  4. From the album: Accutane Journey (Absorica / Claravis)

WOW, I can't believe the difference after looking back at my pictures from the first couple of months!!
  5. Started on Absorica and switched to Claravis. 30mg once a day for the first month and 30mg twice a day since.

  8. Oops, I missed about 4 doses because I went out of town without my meds. Still breakout free, though! For weeks now!! YAY ACCUTANE!
  9. FIVE MONTHS! Month 1 - 30mg Absorica Month 2 - 3 - 60mg Absorica Month 4 - 5 - 60mg Claravis (had to switch b/c of insurance) Symptoms are manageable, but have included the following: dry skin dry lips dry eyes red, rough patches of skin on upper arms red, spotty skin rash on tops of hands (haven't seen this in a few weeks but it seemed to pop up if I was dehydrated) dry nose (got worse around 4 months) dry scalp (only seemed to last about 2 weeks during month 2) To manage symptoms:
  10. @anotherstar I am SO glad to hear that this log has been encouraging! If acne has started to interfere with your confidence, daily life, happiness, ect. and you've already tried all of the topicals and antibiotics then I HIGHLY recommend going on it. To be honest, my only regret is that I didn't start it sooner. But definitely wait until after Summer, because this stuff will make you sensitive to the sun...even with sunscreen...and I am not one to burn easily. I'm halfway through my fifth month
  11. Hey Kim, That's too bad your Derm isn't giving you much guidance. Mine sold me the moisturizer from his office to get me started, but I found that the Cerave Moisturizing Cream (yes, it comes in that white and blue twist off top tub) works much better! And I know exactly what you mean. I never would have dreamed I could use something as thick as this moisturizing cream, but I absolutely love it. Is your skin super dry or flaky? I sometimes added small dabs of Aquaphor to the really dry spots wh
  12. Hi Kim! I felt the same way! Keep hangin' in there. The fourth month seems to have been my "magic month". Up until then it was a bit of a roller coaster. What dosage have you been on? I'm using Avene Thermale Selectoise Emollient cleansing gel. I got it at my Dermatologist's office, but wish I had ordered it on Amazon because it's cheaper...go figure! http://www.amazon.com/Avene-Thermale-Selectoise-Emolient-Cleansing/dp/B003CJHZKY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426101687&sr=8-1&keywords=av
  13. Beginning MONTH 5!! Had a cyst on my jawline injected with cortisone at my last appointment, but other than that have had NO new breakouts for about a week now. My Derm says that if I do get another flare up I'll definitely do a sixth month, otherwise I might be done in a few weeks. Other than the red spots my skin is smooth and clear. So happy For anyone having a tough time and considering quitting, DON'T! It is so worth it (unless you're having terrible side effects I suppose). But wow. I
  14. DAY 99 60mg (30mg twice a day) Nothing new to report, except that pesky rash on my hands hasn't shown up in a while. I don't think I've been doing anything differently, but maybe I've been moisturizing more than I was a couple weeks ago? Everything else has stayed the same... - Dry, chapped lips - manageable with Aquaphor - Dry skin that sometimes peels - manageable with Cerave Moisturizing Cream - Dry nose - manageable with Aquaphor (just put it up there with a Q Tip, you won't regret it
  15. I'm currently using Vaseline, but it doesn't really help and I have to constantly reapply it. I also had to give up any kind of tinted lip products, which I'm very upset about! It's much too expensive to ship to where I am, thanks for your help though. Yes, he recommended those treatments to help me clear the clogged pores quicker as those were my main issues and they were very very stubborn. The chemical peeling and PDL is to help with the scarring! 60mg does seem like quite a high dose for you
  16. My derm said we would try out 6 months first and then see how it goes. Since I'm on such a low dose, and I've read that you got to take a cumulative dose of 120mg/kg, I'm thinking I could be on it for ~9 months or so. Ah, another cyst. Mine almost ALWAYS morph into a giant monster with a head, and I'm left with no choice but to pop it If I don't, I gotta walk around with a 3D lump on my face which is.. horrifying. So far, so good! Except that lump on my cheek. I actually popped it once because
