  1. Cetaphil cream is mega moisturizing and you can still put makeup over it. Oddly enough, Cetaphil cleanser dries my skin.
  2. I was hoping someone else would answer this, as I do not suffer from hormonal imbalances. I think that a gynecologist would be more knowledgeable about hormonal imbalances than a dermatologist. If the underlying cause for your acne has something to do with hormone production or ovarian cysts, I don't think a dermatologist would be equipped to handle such issues. I also think that a gynecologist would know more about bcp because its primary function is to prevent pregnancy. A gyn would have
  3. LA has helped with smoothing wrinkles, unclogging pores, and fading hyperpigmentation. I get dark marks after pimples go away, and these dark spots can take months to go away. Since I started the peels, I rarely get them. If I do, they take only 1-3 weeks to fade as opposed to 6 months. My blackheads are about 60% fewer. Since the shape and size of my pores causes them to be dirt collectors, I consider this an amazing success. I don't get many whiteheads anymore. What LA has not d

  5. I use a light box. I can't say for sure if it helps clear acne. I have noticed that my skin heals faster when I use it though. When I feel depressed, I go to the tanning salon. To hell with cancer! For some odd reason, it lifts my mood.
  6. Thanks. But my skin has terrible reactions to SA. If my skin stops responding to LA, I probably will begin rotating treatments with glycolic acid.
  7. Nuvaring doesn't have an estrogen, so technically it doesn't help clear acne. I tried Ortho-Tricyclin too. About 10 years ago, it was heavily advertised in the US to clear acne. I gave it a go and had mood swings. Most BCPs I've tried just gave me nausea.
  8. A gynecologist might know more about bcp's and spiro than a dermatologist.
  9. Anything with an estrogen in it could help clear acne. There is a risk of depression for every birth control pill, but this doesn't mean that any particular pill would make you depressed. The presence of side effects depend on your body. Every pill could have different side effects from the next, if you get side effects at all. You may have to try a few different pills before finding one that works for you, which is okay because there are hundreds of them. When I was taking oral contracep
  10. Agreed. Just about every birth control pill has the potential to clear your skin. They add estrogen-like chemicals to your body, which in turn, makes your skin look more awesome. Dianette is hardcore. It is not available in the US because of the risk of severe side effects. Since you are depressed on Dianette, I recommend that you speak with your doctor about a new pill.
  11. Welcome to my world. I have terribly sensitive skin, which I believe to be the root of my acne. If I use irritating products, I will break out. And, every product seems to irritate my skin. You might need to find what irritates your skin, which means stopping all products, including your cleanser. If your skin is anything like mine, it will get better in a week or two. BTW, aloe vera, sulfur, and Cetaphil kill my skin. Gentle for everyone else, horrible for me. I had to find what works
  12. I've used all those oils for moisturizing. They broke me out.* However, many find success with olive oil and jojoba oil. Have you thought about pure aloe vera? Not the gel, but the liquid you store in the fridge. Aubrey Organics sells it. The moisturizing is very light. * Somehow I can cleanse my skin with olive oil with no acne consequences. Go figure.
  13. Oooo! Your skin is looking good. Salicylic acid is better at dissolving oil than other acids. Unfortunately, all salicylic acid products including peels cause some weird allergic reaction for me. My skin is really, really sensitive. Lactic acid works for me. It has helped scarring a little. It got rid of the pigmentation and smoothed things out somewhat, but not that much. I probably need a higher concentration.
  14. I wonder how the water only method is working for her. Personally, I believe that most cleansers make our skin worse. They are way too harsh or are just crap that is marketed well. My skin become 60% more clear after I began cleansing with olive oil. Some days I don't wash my face, and I don't break out. Since everyone's skin is unique, the regimens that we use will be different. But, in my experience, the harsher the cleanser, the worse off the skin. There is no need to overdry your skin
  15. 100% CLEAR!!!!! Unbelievable! I finally found something that worked for me.
