  1. Great job Drizzler! Eating good food others have prepared is even better than eating things you make yourself (which is why I promote sharing food by cooking for friends who will in turn cook for you ) and I agree, if you'd open an healthy food bistrot people would pay you to eat that yummy stuff. So you don't cook your quinoa?
  2. Yeah, one of the most important markers of health according to many studies I mean there's a strong link between how varied one's diet is and one's health Well I am sure it has to be variety HEALTHY diet (and not junk) in those studies Still in a diet of junk food only, you're going to be less healthy by eating m&ms or mcdonald everyday rather than eating a variet of junk food

  4. Saying something over and over doesn't make it true. I mean wheat is probably inferior and some people are intolerant to its proteins, but I tested negative all the times and eating wheat containing bread doesn't have any effect on my skin of health, nor abstaining from wheat had any relevant effect on my health Well, you, being of Mediterranean descent, are possible more adapted to digesting grains than those of us of more northern European descent. 5. Hi pal! How are you doing?

    3. I eat lot of cheese and yogurt and cream and those never break me out. I guess they are a problem only for people who intolerant to casein and lactose
    4. Also eating lot of calories in a sitting is not binge eating and it's not unhealthy. I like to cycle various eating patterns. I alternate eating many times a days with eating two times a day (skipping breakfast) to fasting to eating once a day (Warrior Diet) The day I eat only my calories at dinner I give my body a revamp. At night we are in a parasympathetic system mode, so we're more relaxed, more wired for assimilating food and I have provided my body a digestive rest during the day while in
    5. When we are thin and consciously eat just clean food and little food, our body get used to it and the effect of our healthy eating starts to fade. That's when you throw in a food load, eating as much as you want, enjoying the food delicious food. It's a sort of recharge that has positive effects and kind of rivitalize your body after getting used to more frugal eating.
    6. How you felt after you ate the sugar? Muscle ache could be caused by a lack of glycogen expecially if your muscles don't adapt to using fat as fuel. Some people adapt fully while other still need more carbs. Also if one has been following an high carb or high sugar diet for sometime it's not wise to go very low carb cold turkey. You should instead reduce every 5 days 10 grams by 10 grams of sugar and carbs. Otherwise your pancreas is fine-tuned to expect a rush of sugar and release insulin acco
    7. Which is what I don't like about living in Italy, pasta everywhere. And also the whole nation is fueled by coffee, everyone from students to professionals bonk around 10 am because the breakfast is just fast acting carbs and nothing else and the only reason they can drag themselves out of the bed in the morning is coffee. I hate the mediterranean diet
    8. There are usually two causes of ravenous hunger One is eating too many processed carbs. Not your case The other is not getting enough fuel. Basically you have two fuel: carbs and fats. Protein are a poor source of energy, they're poorly metabolized and must be used to repair and grow the tissues. So if you're going to eat very little carbs and mostly veggies, you compensate with a lot more fat. Fat is also dense so you won't have the problem of filling your stomach to excess. So eat mor
    9. I eat multigrain bread but at most two slices a day and it doesn't break me out but also it doesn't upset my blood sugar or lead to bad values in my blood tests. There are indeed no signs that the bread is causing any harm. I was reading a book called "Life Without Bread" The author has cured lot of people by simply reducing carbs and sugar in their diet. His only rule: don't eat more than 80 grams of carbs. He says to his patients to eat whatever they want as long as stick with the maximum am
    10. Did you feel weird just physically or also mentally?
    11. Withdrawal symptoms should go away after 5 to 7 days. More than that and there's something that doesn't work with your nutrition.

    13. Could be. Do you also sweat, feel anxious, feel foggy and can't focus, can't remember things are sluggish or also very aggressive and irritable and you're ready to take hostages?
    14. Okay, juices must go. Keep only orange juice handy to stop an hypo attack by drinking no more than half glass. Simple carbs are worst in the morning and at breakfast and are better at night if you have hypo. So, no apple juice but expecially not apple juice at breakfast. Yogurt is easier on your metabolism than dairy even if you're milk intolerant, you will probably tolerate yogurt. I would eat yogurt with nuts at breakfast. At most you might add some crunchy oats trail mix. Skip the frui
    15. People with hypoglycemia do a lot better with rich foods than light food. For example they do a lot better with lasagna than spaghetti with light tomato sauce, they do a lot better with fried breaded drumsticks than light steamed chicken breast. I would add eggs. I would add chicken legs. I would add shrimps. I would add lentils I would add whole milk yogurt I would add avocados I would add peanuts butter I would add walnuts I would add no wheat crackers I would add bunless pork/
    16. Some extra info People with hypoglycemia and high metabolism rarely tolerate very low carb diet. Atkins is hell for them. Still they can't tolerate too many carbs and don't tolerate most simply sugary carbs. Atkins is like 20 grams of carbs. Hypoglycemics need at least three times that to recover from the feeling of anxiety and sluggishness they get from eating so few carbs. In my opinion not less than 60 and no more than 120 (can increase the days one exercise a lot) is a good guideline for hy
    17. Agree Starches are better than fruit, honey and juices if you have hypoglycemia. You should also always have fats with your carb and if you're going to eat something sweet, make the portion every small and have it at the end of the meal. Other things that works are eating veggies first, proteins second and carb last. Also combining proteins (like having 50% tuna and 50% eggs in your plate) works better than having 100% tune or 100% eggs. I really don't know why this works, it has nothing t
    18. Exactly What all the low-GI gurus don't understand is that you can turn a low GI food into an high GI food simply by eating a lot of it. That's why the GL is important. When eating pasta I think it's important to reduce the portion, add veggies and proteins to the sauce and season with enough fat either from oil or butter. Make the plate of pasta small enough so that you can eat something and don't fill yourself just with pasta. Bread also doesn't break me out, I eat at least a slice a
    19. I wonder if margarine was essentially unused before around 1900? I wonder if heart attacks were still pretty common before that among affluent people lucky enough to live to prime heart attack age? I wonder why observational studies are absolutely the least useful for advancing medical knowledge? We don't live longer, that's a myth We're being told that the average life span of humans has increased, but the average life span of humans is measured taking infant mortality into account. We hav
    20. Yet studies have shown that a normal consumption of soy have no effect in the hormonal balance of males or females of any age, from infant to seniors.
