  2. Screw the physicians!!! They are not out to help you, they are out to make a quick buck...there is no money in the cure! This is coming from an expert on Folliculitis, and the quacks would never give up this valuable advice I am going to give you! I just posted my current shaving regimen to The Ultimate Shaving Thread in the Shaving Forum. No dermatologist/quack has ever mentioned using Betadine to "disinfect" your skin, before, and after shaving. Think of shaving as a surgical procedure, and re
  3. My current regimen: 1 Fill sink with cold water 2 Take warm shower, and wash face & neck with Betadine 3 Slather face with Kiss My Face Fragrance Free Moisture Shave 4 Shave face & neck with a Bump Fighter Fixed Handle Razor 5 Rinse face & neck with cold water Cold water you ask? I've read on-line once, and coming from someone that works in a hospital, that you cleanse in warm water, and then shave with cold. I guess this is the prep in hospitals for surgery,
  4. Try Johnson's Head-To-Toe Baby Wash, and some Triple Antibiotic Ointment! This one-two punch has killed it for me, try it!
  5. I have tried using one, and found it too aggressive for my oily, curly, and coarse facial hair. I had to take a pass on it. Sorry, it was a no go!!!

    Very Frustrated

I've tried SP without any results, maybe try MSM instead.
  9. I cannot condone the use of antibiotics to control acne, based on my own experiences!
  10. No, it's actually methylsulfonylmethane - AKA sulphur. This is a micronutrient that has a multitude of benefits for the body. Look it up! If you want to give SP a shot, I say go for it! I would definitely try out MSM, you can get a bottle @ Wally World for just under $9 for 90 capsules. Maybe do a month trial taking 2 capsules a day.
  11. I did a month long trial of SP, and went through a bottle in a month, with little or no results. I would say drop the SP, and get a bottle of MSM, and start taking 2 X 1,000 mg a day - one in the morning, one in the evening. Also drop any crap soaps or shampoos you may be using! I clean my body AND hair with Kiss My Face Olive Oil Soap, you can get an 8 oz. bar for dirt cheap in the store. Shaving problems, too? - no problem, use Aveeno Shave Gel, a Bump Fighter Razor, and shave with cold water
  12. It could be hormonal, and you may NEVER outgrow it! I just starting taking Saw Palmetto last week, and am finally seeing some results!!! Based on some of the posts I read, I went with GNC's Standardized Saw Palmetto (a little pricey), and take 2 per day - 160mg each. I definitely think mine is hormonal, and related to DHT levels creating extra sebum, therefore unwanted ance, and oily skin. I've always had a very high sex drive, and just about 3 years ago, some thinning of my hair. I think all o
  13. The "fish oil experiment" was a bust. After about a week, breakouts on the back of the neck/behind the ears/lower scalp area. I scrapped these, and went back to the multivitamin, except I broke the dose in half (easily done). Clearing up yet again, so now I'm weary of any supplement with the word oil or containing oil. Almost immediately, the fish oils gave my skin an icky feeling, I started at 2X a day, and cut that right back to 1X a day. Eff multivitams, didn't do s***, again! Back to the dr

  15. me too. im taking 2 teaspoons flaxseed oil a day and two tablespoons of fish oil. i have been reading your posts from years ago about how bad your struggle with acne is. i feel for you man. have you ever given vitamin d a shot? It has been quite a struggle, and I've tried many "vitamin experiments" on myself, including Vitamin D to no avil. I've decided to give Fish Oil another shot. I'm glad to see you've followed my posts, I'm sure I've had some interesting tidbits, here and there. I've been
  16. I'm not surprised, because flaxseed oil contains a high amount of Omega-3's. I would try, and drop all the other supplements you're taking to see if the flaxseed oil is your "magic bullet". This may sound scary, but worth it. Last month I took a multivitamin everyday for a month, my skin was less oily (could just be the winter weather), but I was not pleased with the overall results. I'm on my 3rd day of switching over to Fish Oil Capsules, which also contains high amount of Omega-3's. I haven't
  17. Every time I've taken zinc, whether it be picolinate or gluconate, nothing good happened!
  18. Omnivium, you make some great points here! I'd like to add a few more "toxins" to the list: Stearic Acid Dicalcium Phosphate Lactose Monohydrate
  19. I've had 30 years of acne! I have been on Shitutane for 3 courses, and nothing! I have been prescribed every topical under the sun, and nothing! Even tried Retin-A, it made my skin worse, and burned like hell! These topicals are NOT the answer. At least the women out there can get BC, and some kind of relief. Us guys out there, just have to weather the storm, and suffer! 30 years is a LONG time, I'm talking about 70% of my life here, NOT FUN Every derm I've ever been to has had the brilliant ded
  20. I'm on Day 29 without using antiperspirants, I switched to Tom's of Maine Unscented Deodorant, and couldn't be any happier with the results! I don't think this is any fluke here, do some reading up on aluminum toxicity, and you may be surprised! I revived a thread in the Natural & Holistic section, and explained my theory about aluminum entering the body through your armpits, and into your lymph nodes. I had a bunch of haters and nysayers chew my ass out! Aluminum is just another poison to p
  21. I don't think it's deodorant, so much as antiperspirants.
  22. Tough question! Do you mean when someone gets acne in their '20's, '30's, or beyond? Are you talking about someone like myself, that gets it when their 13, and seems to never go away? I've been hoping every year that it will go away with age! FWIW, I've taken the following steps: #1 - Diet, no dairy, no gluten, no sugar, blah, blah, blah #2 - Elimination of antiperspirants, and all aluminum products #3 - Addition of probiotics #4 - No products w/ fragrance, dye, SLS, blah, blah, blah #5 - Using
  23. Just turned 43 here, 30 years of acne! I took yet another shot in the dark, and eliminated antiperspirants, and anything with aluminum. I'm on Day 20, and things are looking very good, for once!
  24. I just turned 43 last week, and have suffered with 30 years of acne! In the past 4 months, I've conducted "vitamin experiments" on myself to no avail! I've also been on a crazy diet for the past couple of years - no dairy, no sugar, no gluten, no caffeine, etc., etc. I'm on Day 17 of not using antiperspirants, or using anything w/ aluminum, and I gotta say, I don't think this is any fluke! Furthermore, dermatologists are NOT going to help you, there is no money in the cure, just look at all the
  25. I don't think your theory is too much of a stretch, I'll tell you why! A couple of weeks ago, I decided to give up antiperspirant, and go with an unscented straight-up deodorant. I've also given up drinking anything out of an aluminum can, and told my wife to refrain using aluminum foil. So, after all these years of dermatologists, antibiotics, topicals, cleansers, supplements, and crazy diets, I may have pinpointed the cause, for myself, anyway. I also added in taking some probiotics, as well.
